Kmart Tyre and Auto

I seem to have really bad luck when it comes to mechanics and this is yet another place I have been…read moreripped off - although at the time I didn't realise. I got a flat tyre fixed here. I drove in, told the mechanic my problem and he directed me inside. I was told to come back in an hour or so and I paid around $30 or something close to that for the tyre to be patched up. The service from the staff was ok, nothing incredible but they were friendly enough. I left satisfied and with a nice plump tyre. Later that day I headed into work only to find my co-workers discussing Kmart Tyre and Auto. One of my fellow workers had been there earlier that day and the workers had bragged to him about how much profit they make because they overcharge all their services and products so much. They told my friend that they didn't know why people came to them when they could get much cheaper services elsewhere very easily. That was quite frustrating to hear but at the same time I don't think I've had my tyre patched for cheaper anywhere else. The garage/shop is outside Coles on the bottom level Knox and is underneath Kmart. I wouldn't avoid going there if it was an emergency but after hearing about the upscaled prices I am hesitant to go there again.

Kmart Tyre and Auto at Knox is a handy place to have your car serviced. The staff seem reasonably…read morecompetent (to me, so far), and the prices are pretty decent. The target demographic is people who treat their car as an appliance, though. If you drive something remotely interesting (I'm looking at you, mister or missus low volume import enthusiast), you'll probably want to find someone that specialises in your car, because KTAS is pretty generic. You might find yourself having to specify what oil filter you need, that sort of thing. Chances are you'll probably do your servicing yourself, anyway. If you're just a Commodore, Falcon, Camry or Magna driver, you'll be fine. And no, if you drive a bog stock front wheel drive, Australian delivered Lancer, you're not driving something exotic. I don't care how big your wheels are. Mum's had her car done a few times here when I've been to busy to do the servicing her Honda has needed. They've been reasonably comprehensive in listing what they've done, and like I said, the prices aren't bad.
