One of the really great things about this store is that the staff genuinely know what they are talking about, they are full of advice and information to suit all pet owners. They also have some books too, which is useful if you if you are thinking about getting a pet. It is quite impressive in comparison to the bigger chain pet stores that are around and it is also so much cheaper! Very rarely do I go into pet shops. But never have I seen reptiles being available to buy from a…read moreshop. I know that sounds crazy but what I saw in this shop was a real shock I have to say. Children under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult to enter this shop. From snakes to lizards, these are some of the reptiles on show at Pets and Aquatics. The shop itself is small and there is not exactly much room to move about in. Because of this, you are actually quite close to the reptiles on show. Children under the age of say for instance eight could be scared by the reptiles featured in Pets and Aquatics so my advice would be not to take them. However that is just my view and parents still might want to take their children to see the snakes and lizards. There are however fish tanks to see so it's not just about reptiles. Not a bad place in my view and Pets and Aquatics might well be a place where you want to purchase pet food from.

Organisation is a bit of a problem inside and finding what you need could take you a good while, as nothing seems to be organised into any particular order and it's near-impossible to browse the store without stepping on several things along the way. The staff are unfriendly and ignorant, paying little attention to customers unless questioned and everything inside seems to be covered in a thick layer of dust. On my recent visit to purchase some pet food, the man who served me didn't say a word and failed to even make eye contact. The shops product range is impressively extensive, but its unpleasant atmosphere and dirty interior rendered my shopping experience one I'd definitely like to forget.

I freaked out and ran down to the pet centre to ask for help on this unpleasant issue. The staff were friendly and did not try to oversell products in an attempt to increase their profit margins. I was sold a spray, a flea comb and a solution to rub into my kitten's skin and fur. Two days later and my kitten is flea free. Thank You Kings Heath Pet Centre. They also have goods for all types of pets and animals, ranging from dogs to your more exotic pets. It is also a great place to bring the kids if you have any. The Cockatoo is one of my main reasons for coming here on un-cat related issues. He/She will quite happily mimic your words if you don't mind looking a little bit silly in front of the other customers. Kings Heath Pet Centre also sells your regular supplies such as litter and food pouches. Their prices are competitive with the larger supermarkets that have the pleasure in buying in vast stock quantities. If you own a pet and live in the vicinity, then Kings Heath Pet Centre is the place for you.

There is a wide range of products for each type of pet, all of my cat and guinea pig needs were well catered for. The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices are reasonable. My main reason for visiting the pet centre was always to see the cute animals, especially the furry little bunny rabbits! *Awww* So cute! There is always a large parrot who occasionally gives people a fright but suddenly squawking or flapping his wings as you go past. Any excuse to go in and I'm there!

Things may cost a little more here than your average little pet shop, but you do get the sence that the animals are all healthy before they are sold, and they even give you a 2 week guarentee on your pets if they decide to die!

Our cat was diagnosed with Chronic Renal Failure secondary to Hypertension. This is very common in elderly cats and can be managed for many years with anti-hypertensive medication and diet. We were looking for suitable food and (regrettably) asked the manager. We then got a 20 minute lecture telling us we had been killing our cat because we had fed him Gourmet Gold for years. Apparently it is made from feathers and bones. Really? So how would he explain this in cats who had not been fed Gourmet Gold or indeed the many humans that have never eaten cat food! I work in Medicine so know how frighteningly ridiculous his statement are but can you imagine telling an elderly woman that she is killing her cat? On a separate occasion, he came up to our dog whist we were browsing and said she was ill because her coat wasn't glossy. Her coat is white and has never been glossy. He tried to sell us some dry food that I had no intention of buying. He then went on to try and sell us some ointment for her warts that was used on World war one soldiers in the trenches. What? Again, another unbelievable statement that shows this man has absolutely no idea that warts and caused by a virus and unless they bother the dog, there is no suitable treatment other than surgery and even that will not eradicate the papilloma virus. And as for my dog been ill, she is now 17 and perfectly healthy and happy despite her coat isn't glossy. Sadly, although the other staff are lovely, I have stopped going there because of the obnoxious owner. If the manager is reading this then I suggest you stop accusing owners of killing their pets and gain some knowledge in basic animal medicine which you clearly haven't got. Your comments and "advice" deeply concern me and if you were a health professional, I would have reported you to the GMC/NMC for gross misconduct and dishonesty. I now shop elsewhere and would suggest others do the same if they don't want to listen to this man spouting utter idiotic nonsense.

They also deliver which is great and saves me having to carry a 2-stone bag of organic dog food home on the bus. Staff are really nice and helpful and there's also a big selection of daft squeaky toys in a variety of mad shapes available. Other animals are catered for - rabbit food, cat treats, budgies bells etc are can be purchased and it's all very reasonably priced.

The staff are always very pleasant and helpful, they know what they are talking about and have previously recommended vets and grooming services to me before, which is always very handy to know. The prices are not too bad as I have been to more expensive pet stores in Birmingham before. I am not sure what the other items are like, but my cat certainly likes the cat food from here, so that is great. I would recommend this store to those in the area who have pets!
