They have fantastic pre packaged meat off cuts really cheap and the dogs LOVE them. Like the ends of the hams and deli type meats, so good quality meat still. You can just as easily cut them into pieces and use them in salads or on pizza's. I have also bought really cheap, still in date, school snacks here. They have a huge range of lollies, chips and soft drinks but I try and avoid that section. Toiletries and deodorants are cheap here too. And I always buy my plastic BBQ plates here. They have the oval ones, which are heaps better size, for only $2 for a pack. Bit of everything here really so worth dropping in at least one a month to see what you can pick up cheap. I could not believe how huge it was the first time I went in there. You could spend hours browsing in this store. They have everything pre-loved from clothes, furniture, electrical, toys, games, books, curtains, towels, bedding, shoes even some special things in a locked cabinet near the checkouts. Some of the smaller items, like kitchen utensils and small toys, they have wrapped together and sell as a pack for only a few dollars. I managed to get a fantastic game for my son there that he just loves and it's so simple but i have never seen it in a shop before. He has had hours of play from it and will continue to use it for a while linger yet and it was only $4.00! No problems with returns as long as you have your receipt and it's within a timely manner since the purchase date. All the electrical items they sell have to be tagged and tested prior to sale so I haven't had any issues anyway. Even better if you have stuff to get rid of at home they have a bin at the front of the store you can deposit items into. And to take it one step further when the store is open so is the back door and you can just drive around there and they will take any donations straight out your car for you. Makes it easier than trying to shove a garbage bag of stuff in a donation bin somewhere. Plus you can take items that won't fit in one of the bins so you can get rid of anything there. Definitely a place I will visit every now and then just to see what's on offer as stock is always changing. And as they say - someone else's trash may be your treasure!

Escorted me to the registers with a code and directed me to come to the loading dock anytime with my receipt to pick up the item. I rang the bell and a someone answered on the intercom, found out the item I was picking up and told me they would be down shortly. A lovely guy came down in the service lift with my huge boxed purchase. He knew exactly which way to put it in to make it fit in the car I had with a minimum of fuss. This just topped off the good customer experience. But probably don't expect too much as they are just a cheap shop and are usually very busy. Sometimes there can be a wait for service.

Also has a not too bad food court in the centre with a bit of every culture represented. In the holidays they do some really good activities for the kids in the hall or foyer area's of the centre. One school holidays they even had a mini ice skating rink set up and you could take your kids in for a free lesson. They actually have quite a lot of stuff and if it's not good enough they can't sell it so it always checked items for sale. Mostly clothes and some minor bric a brac, not much furniture really but a little. However I did manage to get some great second hand clothes for my kids. An amazing shirt for my youngest which he wore ALL the time. Absolutely LOVED it! And some really cool Holden pyjamas that were still in great condition. I picked up some really good bargains and walked out with a few items for each child and only spent about $30.00. Kids grow out of clothes so quickly that you can pick up really good second hand stuff that is barely worn. After getting some great bargains here myself I always donate what my kids grow out of back to them to sell to another person looking to get some good pre-loved clothes and save a few dollars.

Clothing and furniture remain dominant though, which is a good thing if you are looking for some penny-pinching home-ware items. They also have a good range of kids toys, most of which appeared basic staples when I was there but nonetheless can be quite useful. At the end of the day, the money does go to a good cause and I am sure that there is something to suit everyone in the shop (at some point or another).

Now they have moved the K-Mart Tyre & Auto into a brand newly built shop at the outer edge of the carpark it loses a little more room for parking. It's main attractions are Coles and Target then there are about 40 specialty shops. So a bit of everything is represented really. There's a Subway, EB Games, Priceline Pharmacy, Australia Post, Homeart, butcher, cafe, bottle shop, shoes, clothes, fruit and veg, mobile phones, a good mix for whatever you are looking for. These's even a Sushi shop I noticed the other day. I don't eat the stuff so never really noticed before. Worth a look or for somewhere different to go. I could see lots of locals using it often but the main drawcard that gets me there is Target (as it's the only one in the Southern area) or on a few odd occasions catalogues from Homeart or Tandy have made me make the trip here.

Southgate Plaza's main attraction is target, a nice department store. This is one of the largest Target stores south of Adelaide and has a great range. The other stores are quite nice too and you pretty much have one of each store type. Parking is really easy, however it gets harder at Christmas (very difficult during sales even though there are umpteen many parking spaces). They run competitions at Christmas time where you can win gift cards. These are worth entering, and the atmosphere is quite positive. It doesn't get too busy during the week, which is good too.
