Southgate Plaza is a smaller shopping centre just off Main South Road at Morphett Vale. It's more…read moreof a semi circle of shops with verandahs rather than an enclosed centre. Parking is usually not too bad but it can get rather hectic at times. Now they have moved the K-Mart Tyre & Auto into a brand newly built shop at the outer edge of the carpark it loses a little more room for parking. It's main attractions are Coles and Target then there are about 40 specialty shops. So a bit of everything is represented really. There's a Subway, EB Games, Priceline Pharmacy, Australia Post, Homeart, butcher, cafe, bottle shop, shoes, clothes, fruit and veg, mobile phones, a good mix for whatever you are looking for. These's even a Sushi shop I noticed the other day. I don't eat the stuff so never really noticed before. Worth a look or for somewhere different to go. I could see lots of locals using it often but the main drawcard that gets me there is Target (as it's the only one in the Southern area) or on a few odd occasions catalogues from Homeart or Tandy have made me make the trip here.

There is a subway (that automatically places it a good stead), a Baker's Delight (another good point), a lovely small butchers store, Target, Coles, a supersized Newsagency, a Pharmacy and even a nice little sushi bar. Southgate Plaza's main attraction is target, a nice department store. This is one of the largest Target stores south of Adelaide and has a great range. The other stores are quite nice too and you pretty much have one of each store type. Parking is really easy, however it gets harder at Christmas (very difficult during sales even though there are umpteen many parking spaces). They run competitions at Christmas time where you can win gift cards. These are worth entering, and the atmosphere is quite positive. It doesn't get too busy during the week, which is good too.

Which is great as a lot of the other stores only stock the school range when school goes back and it's much harder to find at other times of the year. Not here! I notice they also have an online school zone if you need a hard to find colour maybe try that. They have heaps good deals on underwear, sleepwear, babies, childrens, male and female clothes in all size ranges. They also sell some really unique to this shop attire with diffferent designs and materials available. They usually have racks out the front of the store with specials on them as well. They were one of the only stores to have any Xmas t-shirt items this year so I was thankful I looked here. They do also have clean good sized change rooms at the rear of the store if you want to try anything on before you buy it, although they have always been ok if I have ever had to return anything. I have also gotten some fantastic baby presents here of georgeous blankets, clothes and gift packs available for around $20. Definitely a store I will continue to go to often.

It's near one of the ends of the mall so not too bad access wise depending where you parked the car. It's not too hard to get around in but it is often very busy and crowded inside, especially near the checkout area, which seems to be the case with all the Cheap As Chips stores. They do not have enough checkouts or enough room at them. Not for the amount of people that go to the stores. I have bought plenty of items from this store mainly as it is convenient being in my local major shopping centre. I recently went here looking for an entertainment unit for my son that I had not found at a larger store despite their website saying it was in stock there (do not believe the availability checker on their website. If you really want to be sure ring the store first and check). The lady that helped me was great. She went out the back and checked and found one. Escorted me to the registers with a code and directed me to come to the loading dock anytime with my receipt to pick up the item. She was really nice and helpful and I got exactly what I wanted without too much trouble. When I finished shopping I went back to my car and drove around to the loading dock. I rang the bell and a someone answered on the intercom, found out the item I was picking up and told me they would be down shortly. A lovely guy came down in the service lift with my huge boxed purchase. He knew exactly which way to put it in to make it fit in the car I had with a minimum of fuss. This just topped off the good customer experience. But probably don't expect too much as they are just a cheap shop and are usually very busy. Sometimes there can be a wait for service.
