Big communication issues. They dont return calls so it takes weeks to make an appointment, no…read moreappointment confirmation either even after leaving voicemails, except 15 mins before my scheduled appointment. When I arrived they didn't have my doctor referral anymore, and brought me to the next door office to take my payment. After a little bit more wait, the doctor announced they had to reprogram the monitor and asked me to either reschedule or come back one hour later. As I only went there twice in 3 years (same organization issues) and only to install a monitor on my arm, I am not in a position to assess doctors (they seem knowledgeable and competent, from my experience) but just was disappointed by the organization issues, when it is also challenging to plan 1.5 day off at work.

After years of feeling infantilized and patronized by doctors I am very happy with his approach to patient care. I need to give a shout out to nurse Helen as well. She's personable, professional, and makes me feel taken care of. She's lovely. I see a lot of frustration on here about wait times, this is an unfortunate reality for walk-in patients in the downtown core. As a registered patient I am fortunate to rarely wait more than 10 min when I come in for a booked appointment.

I was surprised as this was the first time that I don't have to wait for a long time so I was feeling kinda positive. Then the doctor assigned to me, Dr. Calvin Lei came into the room and this is where everything downhill. He checked me for a mere 5 mins and diagnosed it as a viral infection. I asked him what to do next as I'm taking OTC medicines and his reply was "to do whatever I want to do". When you come to see a professional you defer to their expertise and have high hopes that doctors will help you heal. Well not Dr. Lei. When you're at your vulnerable times and hurting he will definitely rushed you and your illness/symptoms dismissed. Most likely will not even provide you with the answers to your problem. This experience further inflamed my deep frustration and dissatisfaction with our health care system. Most medical professional nowadays lacks empathy and compassion and are mostly uncaring people who simply wants a pay check. So sad but true that Canada's health care is now at its melting point.

Usually the good doctors take a bit more time, but the bad ones will rush you off. I had a doctor once who told me that I could only ask one question per visit, so I asked about my infection, but couldn't ask about my nose congestion. She demanded that I go back out into the lobby, and ask the secretary to swipe my health card for a second time in order to ask my second question about my nose. I should also add that some of the secretaries are clueless, and when I say clueless I mean clueless. It took her a year to update my telephone number. I had 3 visits in one year, and each visit she would ask me to confirm my information, and I would ask her to update my number. Finally on the third visit she was able to get help with making the update.
