Klutts Lumber Company gives you a rare excuse to bypass big-box "home improvement" corporations. They stock a wide array of wood types, from exotic all the way down to domestic, and they operate as if their customers matter!
I'm a lightly trained hacker who wanted to make backyard live-edge cedar benches for our kids' families; finding Charles Klutts and his team was like a free guarantee of success. The benches are now assembled -- thanks in part to some additional planing they did for me -- their recommendations for choice of finish are in, and the three or four trips to their shop along the way were an undiluted pleasure.
These are good folks who treat you so well that you may end up buying some exotic lumber just for the pleasure of doing business there.
Another reviewer called Mr. Klutts' shop a hidden gem, and that's well said. A stroll through those stacks and piles and bins of wood is, by itself, worth the price of admission -- or would be, if there was one.
For product quality, old-fashioned friendly service and a memorable experience overall, they deserve six stars. Unfortunately, Yelp allows only five. read more
