Five stars because this will push your sensory boundaries. The one photo of the appetizer is the…read moreonly food you will visually see. The appetizer of vegetarian potsticker had a little heat added to the flavors. The swirl lightly pickled zucchini that accompanied was a nice start of the flavors to come.
They had 3 menu offerings: all were for an additional 3 courses. Vegetarian, Meat and surprise. We made our reservation 2 days before and had requested fish. Which they did accommodate. My boyfriend decided to go with surprise. I went with fish surprise.
Before going into the restaurant They had asked us to remove or put away anything that gave off any light. I removed my Fitbit and watch, put my phone in my handbag.
Once done in the lighted bar area with the appetizer and complimentary drink we were taken downstairs, brought into a small dark room, closed the door we came through. The guide rapped on the white door. Our waiter Jung opened the door, greeted us in perfect English. Guided my hand to his shoulder, and told my boyfriend to put his hand on mine and he lead us into COMPLETE DARKNESS to our table without mishap.
If you want more details ask.
Jung, was helpful and amusing. "Trust me the food looks just as good to me as it does to you." Jung our server is blind. As the waiters move about the restaurant you hear snaps or clicks.
Consuming my meal took time. I came up with a method that resulted in a clean plate with every dish and nothing on my lap or the table.
Eating slowly we both enjoyed the flavors and our company.
Salad course for me had the addition of falafel, a tangy vegetable cream and hummus on a bed of spring greens. Discovering textures, flavors, the size of the bite I had somehow assembled on my fork: only as they touched my lips and tongue was part of the experience that made this evening great. My boyfriends salad had slices of veal with falafel.
My salmon had a cherry sauce, with roasted potatoes and a medley of other fresh vegetables. My boyfriend had beef with a rosemary sauce, same vegetables. Both were cooked perfectly and delicious. Vegetables still crisp.
Desert was a rhubarb cake, that I think was on top of fresh very ripe mango and tart strawberries with Vanilla ice cream.
If you need your waiter, need to use the WC (restroom) or are ready to leave, you call out the waiters name and your table number. They will escort you out. Do not attempt on your own.
That night they had a pianist and singer. Which added to the sensory experience.
We did here a young girl of 9 in the restaurant who sounded like she was having a fun time.
Would go back.
