Consistently doesn't pick up the garbage. No customer service AT ALL. Phone system is designed to frustrate customers.

The walking paths are wide and well packed down, we only ran into a few muddy spots. It is mostly flat and only a few small areas of minor incline. There is a main pathway that leads to the several side trails throughout the park. We kept on the main trail this time, based on the All Trails app. It's a beautiful park and made for a great outdoor walk. We plan to make this our new regular walking spot!

You feel them in the eerie stillness, the odd way sound carries, how you hear people talking but never see anyone, and how easy it is to get lost even on trails you could find your way on blindfolded. Whatever you do, do not remain here after dark. There are numerous interdimensional portals found throughout Banner, and even if you choose not to enter them, they distort time and space as you near them and animate them with your life force energy. The Banner Spirits have guardians that will attack you if you fail to show respect--or even if you do, but somebody else didn't and they happen to be in a bad mood. Thus, the bear mauling. Thus the two (at least) wasp colonies that change locations every year. I've become acclimated to weird things happening in Banner: strange sounds and smells, the lack of birds and small mammals, the confusing, poorly-signed, interlocking trails, the wasps, abandoned bicycles and a rusted car found deep in the forest, far from any road, a picnic basket and offerings left upon a mossy tree stump 300 ft from the nearest trail, Kitsap County Fire paramedics with full kit but no vehicle, miles from either entrance. These things are normal here. Some safety tips: I always thank the spirits for allowing me temporary access, immediately on arrival. I carry two-way radios, in case my partner and I get separated (happens all the time), and if I encounter an opened portal or a guardian (like wasps), I take the hint and hightail it the hell out of there. But if you can show respect and avoid stepping into a portal, Banner is a great place. The restlessness of the spirits creates stillness in the forest as a byproduct, and does not keep people away. Dog walkers, mountain bikers, cyclists and hikers all coexist here on far friendlier terms than most places. There is dog shit everywhere, but fewer off leash douchebags than many other places. Tread lightly in Banner, and by the grace of the spirits, you will leave it intact, unmarked, and better refreshed than when you came.
