When it…read morecame time to refurbish and remodel my own home about a year-and-a-half ago, I chose YBC State College for much of the work. They were to replace my wall-to-wall carpets on one hallway, on two flights of stairs, and in three bedrooms. Two different carpets were ordered, but they installed the wrong one in one of the three bedrooms, so it does not match the rest of that floor of the house. They partially remodeled my master bathroom, and were to replace the floor with a new waterproof subfloor, topped with a new wood-like vinyl floor. Unfortunately they forgot to put in the waterproof subfloor. They partially remodeled another full bathroom in my house by replacing the shower stall with a new panelized multi-part one. The installer showed up and told me on the day that he started the installation that he had NEVER installed one before. I should have stopped him right then and there but I didn't. He completed the installation, but did it all wrong and the shower stall did not work correctly. After sending YBC a registered letter citing their failure to fulfill their performance contract, they sent a different installer to rebuild the shower stall. When he showed up he told me that he had NEVER installed one before either. It still never worked correctly after that rebuild. The manufacturer told me that it was installed incorrectly. I complained to YBC again, but I was told by a State College employee that our problems were caused by our son who used the shower, with him being too tall. (Of course, this YBC employee, who is much taller than our son, said he had the exact same shower in his own home, and that it worked perfectly.) Now recently one of the panels popped out of the shower enclosure, rendering it unusable. When I contacted the YBC employee, he told me that they would have to order a "repair kit" from the manufacturer, and then be charged for the time and labor it would take to rebuild the shower a third time. So I contacted the manufacturer a week or two later who told me that they do not offer any repair kit for this shower, and that none had been order by YBC at any rate. I sent a very detailed analysis of this entire experience to my local YBC employee, to the State College store manager, and to the President of YBC. I received no reply from any of them. In short, I do not recommend YBC to anyone for any purpose or need whatsoever. And I certainly do give them the worst possible rating.

They were able to fill the remaining items that we needed and have them delivered to our house within 28 hours from placing the order. The staff was knowledgeable, professional and courteous. One of the items we needed was out of stock and unlike the big box store which simply cancels your order without telling you they offered us the next length up. That may not seem like a big thing but after 2.5 weeks of getting screwed around it felt amazing. It was really nice to deal with a company that actually cares and has employees that are capable of doing there jobs. Please consider shopping with this company. They are locally owned and have earned my respect and future business.

This business recently completed a bathroom remodeling job for us at a very reasonable cost. We got great advice on materials and costs all along the way. We really appreciated that the workers cleaned up after themselves each day and hauled away all trash and detritus from the job. Not only was the whole job done on schedule, but management kept us apprised of each day's worker arrival time and estimated length of the day's tasks. Our phone calls and text messages before and during the process always got a prompt response. After completion, a couple of items required followup visits, and the business responded promptly, addressing our concerns. I recommend them highly.

(the one positive "customer" review written here is by Chris who works at the decorating center, who enforces the above policy and retaliated against me for pointing out that it is a violation of FLSA.)

Bought hedge trimmer in April in anticipation of summer pruning. Got it out to use and it lacks power or cutting ability. Only cuts needles off arborvitae spiral tree after multiple passes with blade but not the small little branches the needles are on. State College Rural King refused to accept as a return despite inspecting trimmer to determine in perfect condition quoting their 30 day return policy that no one can show me. Even had receipt for item. Willing to accept it as return if I will buy a better, more expensive trimmer. Don't need, already have gas trimmer. Was looking for something lighter to use. They did inform me they could take it back if was defective because manufacturers warranty would then apply. Very unwilling to work with customers. Will not do business here again. Trimmer was $139.99 plus tax. What a waste of time and money at this store. Do business somewhere else. All other stores in the area accept returns for 90 days and give refund or give store credit after 90 days. Rural King should post return policy in store so customers are aware. All I could find was a QR code on back of receipt to scan if I wanted to know their return policy. Other stores have a sign clearly posted for customers to see.
