York Manor

Highland Park

We had our wedding here back in late November and we are so happy with how everything turned out…read more The York Manor's DIY approach was perfect for us because it was extremely important to have the freedom to select every single one of our vendors and to have full control of our wedding costs to make it uniquely OURS. The space was so cool, so intimate, full of charm, and most of all, a fair price for a wedding venue in the heart of LA. The best kept secret (or secret no more??) is definitely the speakeasy downstairs...all of our guests still cannot stop talking about it! With all that said, I would say that the only thing that really worried me about this venue was the parking. It's not a surprise that this area is extremely dense, so for some of our guests, parking was challenging. The York Manor did suggest hiring a valet service and after talking to a handful of valet service vendors - the prices were just really unreasonable for what would have still been the same parking situation. But all in all, everybody eventually found parking, everything was on time and the day was PERFECT.

Built in 1913, The York Manor was home to a Methodist congregation before transitioning into the…read moreYork Blvd Church of Christ in 1963. It sat vacant for a few years and briefly reopened as a performing arts space in 2013 but was forced to shut down. After being declared a historic monument, it underwent a complete renovation by new owners in 2015. The building changed hands again in 2023 and functions as an event center and a shared common workspace. This three-story venue has rooms upstairs. Downstairs is the main room with lofty ceilings, large windows, wood floors, a kitchen, bathrooms, and a stage for a DJ or live bands. Downstairs is a speakeasy style bar and the backyard is also a nice spot for an outdoor reception. I've driven by this place numerous times thinking it was just a church. I recently saw that there was a Holiday Market Place being held here so I stopped in to do some shopping. There was a man on the front lawn making pupusas and people sitting at tables enjoying them. Inside is quite spacious and there were several vendors selling their merchandise. The tables were nicely spaced apart, so it was easy to browse. This realty is a nice spot for an event or to use as a shared workspace. *Street parking only.

This venue was perfect for our baby shower! It was about $900 for the four hour time window to rent…read moreLa Casita, which included an hour to set up and clean up. I could have booked more time but I chose to save money. I ordered food from an outside restaurant. I originally tried getting Mexican food from a place that cooked the food on a grill outside, but I was informed that this was a fire hazard and had to choose another place to deliver food instead. There's a big kitchen to cook stuff if you need to. La Casita is beautiful and it comfortably fit about 70 people. When you book, they say 70 people is the max, but honestly I think it could fit 80-90 people. It's fairly simple to book online and you'll get a liaison to email you if you have questions. The venue provides enough tables and chairs for 70-80 people. I had to rent tablecloths to make them look nicer. I also hired a couple people to help set up and clean up. Overall, I'm glad I did the baby shower here instead of at home. Some other things to know: -If you're serving booze, it's an additional $70 bucks for liability insurance. -Liability for food to be cooked at the venue costs about $120 through a company the City of Pasadena uses. -I set up a photobooth behind the building and it worked out great! -There is free wifi, but when it's shared among 70 people its kind of slow. -There are about 40 parking spaces, but there is neighborhood parking too. You're not encouraged to do neighborhood parking, but it is free and unrestricted, FYI.

Ambassador gardens is a luxury residential community with beautiful homes and condos. The grounds are beautiful with big trees, water features and seating areas. We even saw turtles and big birds by the waterfall. Really lovely place to take a stroll at. We parked on Green Street and walked towards the ambassador auditorium... see my videos and pictures. So pretty.

The territory is incredibly well maintained, with huge mature trees, beautiful flowers, fountains, mini waterfalls, and small ponds where you can see fish and turtles. There is also a lovely grassy area in the center where you can sit, relax, or have a small picnic. Geese walk freely around the gardens, and colorful parrots fly overhead, adding even more charm to the atmosphere. In April, the garden looks especially stunning -- the pergola and trees are in full bloom (I wish I remembered the names of those gorgeous flowers!), and the whole place feels alive and magical. Honestly, this garden is beautiful in any season of the year. You can come here with dogs, which is a big plus, but it's important to respect the property rules: pets must be on a leash, owners are responsible for cleanup, professional photography requires a permit, and activities like skateboarding, drinking alcohol, or organized sports events are not allowed. These rules help preserve the calm and cleanliness of the space. There is also a secondary school located on the property, which adds to the unique character of the place. Parking-wise, we were able to find free street parking nearby without any issues. This is a perfect spot to slow down, enjoy nature, and escape the city noise for a while. Highly recommended for a peaceful walk or a quiet moment surrounded by beauty.
