I really wanted to see a movie in English while visiting Frankfurt and while there are lots of…read moreoptions, I also wanted to go outside of the city a little and Festival-Kino was the perfect option. About a 30 minute train ride away from where I was staying but what a cozy nice little theater. You could tell the owners loved film from the decor and how well it was maintained. Snacks were tasty and well priced and everyone working spoke English without any issues.

It's the only cinema in Darmstadt and surroundings that shows mainstream movies with original…read moresoundtrack, mostly but not exclusively English films, mostly whatever is played currently in dubbed versions in other German cinemas. Unfortunately, choice is limited - but judging from the all too often empty auditorium, there is no demand for more. The auditorium itself is nicely tiered, i.e. even short people have no problem looking over the head of the person in front.

I went to see Star Wars tonight and my ticket said it was in the Festival hall so I waited there…read morewith some other people for it to open and it never did. Turns out we had to go to the lobby and get different tickets but we only found that out from another customer when it should have been management. They could have just put up a sign. After the movie I tried to get my parking ticket stamped for reduced parking because they have a deal with the parking lot across the street but they had already closed the cash registers so they wouldn't do it. So parking cost me 8Euros! While I enjoyed the movie it altogether cost me 22Euros which is too much and in the future I'll stay home and watch Netflix.
