I really wanted to see a movie in English while visiting Frankfurt and while there are lots of options, I also wanted to go outside of the city a little and Festival-Kino was the perfect option. About a 30 minute train ride away from where I was staying but what a cozy nice little theater. You could tell the owners loved film from the decor and how well it was maintained. It's the only cinema in Darmstadt and surroundings that shows mainstream movies with original soundtrack, mostly but not exclusively English films, mostly whatever is played currently in dubbed versions in other German cinemas. Unfortunately, choice is limited - but judging from the all too often empty auditorium, there is no demand for more. This is my second visit in the Helia and the cinema hall, in which our film played, was nevertheless actually still smaller than that, in which I sat the last time. At first we had to palpate our seats, Braille would be helpful, I had constantly fear, someone could sit somewhere. It was stick-darkly in the hall and I cant stand horror movies. When then nevertheless times briefly the light turned on, it was to be seen that although small, this hall would not fully be occupied. We saw in love with the bride, because we are both Patrick Dempsey fans. That means, the Plot is unimportant complete, the main thing Patrick is to be seen frequent; -) The film was whole nevertheless maintenance SAM, served all plates, how is right oneself and triefenden heart the cinema left us abandoned. Nevertheless the biggest fun was a man, who, after 10 minutes after beginning of the film the titles was faded in, suddenly jumped up and escaped the hall because he noticed only then that he was in the wrong film. Average prices (5-7 Euro), pleasant environment, clean toilets, clean and fully operational showrooms. Reserving tickets online is easy and painless. Nothing else I'd demand from a cinema :) It's also one of the rare places in the Rhein-Main area where you can enjoy blockbuster movies in their original languages. Big thumbs up! read more
