My daughter in law has been admitted for two days. The nurses turn off the call button without checking on the patients. They are rude and lazy. They took her food order, ignoring all of her restrictions, gave her food she couldn't eat. Then at 7pm she was very hungry. Someone said they'd get her a turkey sandwich, 2 hours later she finally gets someone's attention and they tell her the kitchen is closed. She can have one packet of saltines. We ended up having to order food to be delivered. They went through her stuff and treated her like a criminal for no reason. I called to tell them she needed help because they were ignoring her, they hung up on me. Awful hospital. read more

This is Kingstown Hospital in London, UK not in America A total nightmare. We are visiting from the USA, waiting for 7 hours in a filthy, small, packaged, old, hot ER room with hundreds of patients waiting to be seen by ONE doctor from Africa (third world mentality) who didn't order any exams to a 18 year old patient with possible blood clots who got injured in his arm and had some symptoms of possible vain injury. Social free health care sucks. You get what you pay for (zero payment = zero treatment). American terrible health care system is way better and more effective than the english free system. Third world countries have better hospitals and treatments than the ones in the UK. Btw doctor from this hospital said young people like our son with not family history of blood clots can get one. I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding my recent experience at Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) Urology Department on March 24, 2025. As a paraplegic woman with no bladder or bowel control, I require specialized and compassionate medical care. Unfortunatel, my encounter with Dr. Mars was disappointing and disheartenin. During my appointment, I felt that Dr. Mars was curt, dismissive and lacked the level of care and professionalism that should be extended to all patient. She did not seem to review my file and when I attempted to provide my medical history (essential for my treatment) she disregarded my input. I had to insist on receiving prescriptions for necessary tests, which should not be the case for any patient in need of medical attentio. as a public hospital serving a diverse population, I sincerely hope that the quality of care is not being compromised based on a patient's economic or educational status. everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their background and medical condition. I urge the hospital administration to review the patient care standards at KPH, particularly in the Urology Department, to ensure that all patients receive the compassionate and professional care they deserv. Reggie a counselor from the bridgeback of Kingston is very unprofessional and inappropriate. I'm a girl and he made sexually suggestive comments towards me when I asked for a few days off. I haven't reported him yet because im scared of repercussions. For a methadone clinic it's pretty good. The other counselor are professional. It's just Reggie that is inappropriate. I was really impressed when I went to ER after a fall. Seen immediately and ushered through an exam and CT scan. Nurses, doctor and CT tech all very knowledgeable and kind and gave great explanations. I am a doctor myself and was very impressed with this hospital. Thank you!! read more

we unfortunately went there as we were petrified I our daughter was having a stroke - wish we had gone to poughkeepsie or albany this is the most incompetent and mismanaged hospital we have ever had to use. we had one great nurse, Jessica and a very sweet and earnest neurologist intern who really researched and was kind .. but the rest of the staff and the hospitalist we had was clueless and could not explain and did not help us at all ... I had to prompt asking them to help us! also was not very clean. I've visited Kingston Hospital for several mishaps over the years. They replaced my dislocated shoulder numerous times before I had it replaced. Generous with the pain meds in times of distress, they aren't stingy like some places can tend to be. Whenever I've been hurting, they see to it my pain is alleviated. Once I arrived with my finger sliced open from a fall on shale while hiking. Dr. Dan doesn't throw in the best stitches one could hope for, (several unraveled over the course of days), but he was affable and prompt to treat me. I've never had to wait long or had a bad experience here. All of my treatments have been minor, mind you, but I came away with a good impression and would be apt to use this hospital again in a time of need. Staff is friendly and compassionate. You can't go wrong with KH. read more

With a healthcare emergency I landed in Kingston Hospital for emergency surgery. The admissions process was simple enough, but that was where simplicity ended. The nursing staff was a mixed pot. The RN looked panicked to insert an IV port and the other RNs seemed to not communicate as one rounding healthcare team. The medical Drs on call each round asked the same basic questions that Would have been answered with the ease of reading my chart and ultimately, I was discharged with a prescription that was inadequate for pain management. During the stay another RN didn't follow Drs orders and again did not manage my post surgical pain until a Dr confirmed that she wasn't giving me all of my Rx pain meds when I'd just come out of surgery! Those issues aside the low patient #s made for an intimate and quiet feel during the stay. With all of the attention given during the hospitalization, one would havr had a stellar experience had the pain management alone been at least what was ordered without having to fight for your meds when needed. The hospital rooms didn't have hot water--at all-- so there were many days of not being able to shower comfortably or PERIOD. As an institution of cleanliness, hygiene and sanitary conditions for healing, I'd not think expecting hot water would be an issue. The food was not the greatest tasting but there are many places to order from close by. I didn't eat the food bc it was pretty bad, even the simple things like oats. Depending on who you get, the nursing care ranged from outstanding to wondering how'd they graduate clinicals. I guess it all depends on luck... I'm just GRATEFUL I was able to get thru it alive, and that itself is worth 5 stars. read more

Bilking medical bills , beware On July 2 I had the experience this summer of visit to Kingston hospital emergency room. The care was awesome from the triage nurse to the doc and the insurance lady. So they looked in my daughters ear and gave her 1 pain pill. Guess what , a 3,000 dollar bill. No IVs , no procedures , no blood work. I think this is a bit crazy. my insurance gave an out of net work check of 1300 dollars which is overly generous. My Mom recently had surgery at Kingston Hospital. Her Surgeon and staff were great. But once in her room, it went downhill! No nurses available. Short staff or what? Almost pulled her out. My Mother was here today. She was admitted this morning from the Emergency Department with Atrial Fibrillation. I am a Registered Nurse. I arrived to my Mother's room at 7am. My sister was with her. I am horrified by the vulgar language and lack of awareness by the nursing assistant. She proceeded to tell us about why she has not become a nurse yet, saying, "Excuse my french, but it's not who you know, it's who you blow." The conversation was peppered with other unprofessional language as well. I was mortified and embarrassed for my mother as we left her so this "healthcare professional" could get her ECG discharge strip. On another note, the RN and cardiologist were wonderful, professional, compassionate and well informed. I am dumbfounded by the behavior of the NA. So disappointing. read more

I had heel spur surgery here yesterday and I could not have been happier with the ENTIRE staff and their treatment of me. From the receptionist in the lobby, to the nurses station nurses, to the RN Donna (who quickly became my buddy), to the Anesthesiologist, to the very caring and calming surgical technicians, to my surgeon Dr. Dunham....each and every person was very kind, efficient, and knowledgeable. The hospital was very clean as well. I was a nervous wreck and they really made me calm and did a fantastic job! I would recommend this hospital to anyone and everyone!!!! read more

After a few treatments in the emergency room in this hospital, I seem to have mixed feelings about this place. They seem to be knowledgeable, but when all you are told is that the symptoms the people have who are in there are told to us by doctors as (unknowledgeable symptoms), something seems to be up. For other times on other people, they seem to be okay. They treat scrapes and bruises with the care many people need and deserve. For other things they try to make some minor fixes and ward these problems off on specialists. The rooms seem to be guarded by their staff who are strict at following their own rules. read more

I was in the ER Sunday night. I have been to this ER many times aa i battle chronic illness. I have been shown such a disrespect before. Not this time. The care i got was amazing. The dr said he could see that i had dealt with crap before and not been treated well and he was not going to be another doctor to do that to me. It took about 4 hours to get my pain from a level 9 to a level 2. The doctor never gave up like others have before. He even kept me after the pain was gone to make sure it stayed home. He said if the pain did not go away or it came back he would admit me even though my test came back fine. He was amazing. And the nurse was so attentive. I felt truly cared for. My pain was validated and i was not seen as a drug seeker but a person with true pains. Dr. Miller was simply outstanding and a true doctor who obviously takes his Hippocratic oath very seriously. Came to emergency room and was very pleased: registration was quick and they quickly brought in my husband who was in immense pain; provided a thorough assessment through physical exam and questioning (three nurses attended to him simultaneously); they quickly alleviated the pain; provided an ultrasound and CAT scan all within an hour of arriving; followed safety protocols...constantly confirmed name and DOB of patient, washed hands, etc.; a friendly woman came in to handle consent forms and billing bedside; all staff were friendly, compassionate and professional and communicated openly, honestly and often. My daughter came to er for extreme pain. ER doc told her it might be pancreatitis and in americans that came from severe drinking. First off, my daughter does not drink!! Second, how professional was that for you to say even if you thought that. So, my daughter is admitted with an unknown diagnosis. She was seen by a few doctors and Kingston OBGYN. Needless to say they told her she when need to have surgery Thursday morning at 8am. Guess what?? It is almost noon and she has yet to go down. Meanwhile, she is still in severe pain and cannot have meds because of her having to go under anesthesia. We would have went to Vassar, but the pain was too unbearable and she was throwing up!! Went to the ER, Horrible treatment, spent over 4 hours while nurse very rude on several occasions, unattentive, uncaring, did not provide test results paperwork upon discharge that was needed for a follow up appointment the next day. I'm a pregnant visitor, I waited hours until the cafeteria finally opened at 4:30pm and at that point I was starving so I ordered soup and my husband got potatoes and fries. Everything was ICE COLD like they just took it out of the cooler and sold it to us. Stale fries, greasy cold soup..all around just disgusting and not helping me or my baby get any type of nutrition. I'm extremely upset about this since we will be here for the rest of the night without any food options. What a horrible hospital! Please if you can make it to another hospital please avoid this hospital. Its not the lowest rated hospital in the area for no reason. Be prepared not to be listened to or respected as a patient and to at all times not know what is going on. They have no system of obtaining information and keeping you informed. I was admitted from the ER because I needed emergency surgery they said I could not go home that the surgeon saw pictures of my wound and would be there at 7am. I was held under those false pretenses for 16hr and when a PA showed up looked at my wound ans said I don't know why the admitted you we are not doing surgery . I went nearly 24 hr with no food and I'm a diabetic. The kept me for a day did unneeded treatments and when I asked who pays for this mistake the head RN and a Hospital administrator said "oh your insurance will" I have still had no follow up treatment and had to seek medical care else where. I just had an urgent surgery and my surgeon sent me here. I have been hospitalized about a dozen times over the years. I have never had such a positive experience before. The nursing staff is competent, caring, and positive in attitude. I was so well cared for that when I came home I missed the attention. I know that my recovery was hastened by their expert care. I was particularly impressed that every single employee I interfaced with had a smile and earnestly did their best to meet my needs. While no one wants to be hospitalized, if it has to be, the Kinston Hospital is the best place to go, without a doubt. read more

I have nothing to say but good things about this hospital and the care my Dad has received. From the ER to the floor, not only has everyone been polite, but also compassionate. He has been admitted here twice, and both times, me and my Mom have been very impressed with his care. The attentiveness of the nurses, aides, and other staff has been wonderful. The doctors have been very open and honest about his treatment plan and prognosis and have even thought of things we haven't. I was in Kingston Hospital with my dad. The ER Dr. was so rude to me and unprofessional. She comes in checks him out I told her he was hard of hearing. She got nasty with me told me that he's in critical condition and it does not look good. It was how she said it. Then she comes back in eating a bite size Hershey's candy bar instead of putting it in her pocket when she came in to check on him. She kept on eating it.So unprofessional.Then she stands there and stares at me.Really!!!!!! A male Dr. came in and told me what they were going to do if that's ok because of the high risk of his neck being broken. I agreed to have the tube put in. Then the female Dr. came in and after everyone left. It was just me and her in the room with my dad she has the balls to say " He can die".....What the HELL!!!!! The male Dr. explained everything to me I understand but she had no right to talk to me that way. I was so upset if he was going to make it. In the back of my mind to what the female Dr. said to me.We should feel safe and trust the Dr.'s when they are taking care of your loved ones.But she didn't make me feel that way. Terrible. Very cold and condescending doctors. The rooms themselves are always filthy, and the trash cans dont get changed enough. They request a urine sample but will leave it on the counter for several hours, and treat you like you've done something wrong by showing up. The wait times are ridiculous. I had a doctor hurt me badly during a pelvic exam and become very annoyed that I asked him to stop, as well as a nurse quite literally rip an IV out of my arm IN THE WRONG DIRECTION. I would recommend Kingston hospital labor and delivery unit to anyone in the area looking for a professional hospital to give birth at. The nurses are all so nice and supportive of decisions you make for yourself and your baby. My nurse Indigo was knowledgable and professional. She was extremely supportive throughout my entire labor. She walked the hallways with me for over an hour when I was in labor and just talked with me. I felt really comfortable having her as my nurse. Overall it was a great experience! read more

I went to the hospital for a super dense headache mixed with weird visuals and mental confusion. I tried to open the car door handle with the window buttons, and I had a hard time finding simple words, that sort of thing. I knew it might just be a raging migraine but you don't want to mess around with a possible stroke. I got to the emergency room and my husband and I were ushered right to a private curtained area and examined. They ran all the labs and placed IVs and started monitoring my heart in just a few minutes. They turned the lights way down for me because I was very light sensitive and the headache was terrible. Everyone was quiet and respectful while also doing their job. From the nurses to the residents to the attending I felt well treated. A few hours later the headache subsided and they suggested I get MRI and cat scans to see if there had been any brain involvement. The tests were right in the hospital and there was no waiting. Finally, they suggested that I stay overnight because they like to keep heart monitors on for 24 hours after an event. I knew by then that it was really only a vicious headache, but I choose to follow medical advice and stay to be sure. My overnight stay and care of the hospitalist was actually relaxing. Everyone was so nice and caring and BONUS I got a break from my 3 small children at home for one night!! I would recommend this hospital highly. read more

My complaint lies with the billing department. I was not billed for over a year following surgery in 2015. Now I am being extorted with threats of legal action because my secondary insurance has a 90day cut off to pay for services! Many phone calls and collection agency action is now a threatened lawsuit. All because Kingston aka health alliance- failed to bill in a timely manner. To make things worse the lawyer they hired is aggressive and rude-threatening my home with liens, my credit and insinuating I will have to pay for all their expenses if I don't agree to terms. Who has the means to hire a lawyer to fight this? I certainly don't. So am basically forced to acquiesce to the extortion. And I used to work for Kingston hospital! There should be some kind of "timely billing" rule. I should not be backed into a legal corner because of their slow billing process! I'd love to fight them but they clearly have the means to come after me for $1200 that should have been written off as THEIR MISTAKE! read more

Honestly the worst place to bring an older person. We brought my grandma who has dementia to the hospital when she had a dizzy spell. They found something in her stomach so they admitted her. The day staff was the best but the second the night shift took over it became a huge joke. My grandma was scared and she was yelling and trying to take our her IV and not one nurse came in to help. She was the room directly across from the nurses station. There was some blonde RN making googley eyes at another nurse, she had no problem talking about her puppy and texting away. My grandma tried to get out of bed and take our her IV at least 5 times not one time did any member of the night staff come in to check or offer us help. It took them 15 minutes to come in to help her go to the bathroom because we were told we cannot help her walk they have too. The whole hospital was a joke because no one actually cares about the patients. If we hadn't stayed the night with her she surely would have hurt herself by either falling out of bed or pulling out the IV or Both. Not one nurse even looked the direction of the room while she was yelling because she wanted to get out. How is that right. 10 out of 10 would NOT recommend coming to this hospital. read more
