The staff was all very friendly and helpful. Kerri checked us in gave us maps and great tips about where to eat and things to do while in Te Anau as well as for our trip to Milford Sound. It's on the pricier side for Te Anau but this is a great option if you appreciate a nice suite, a convenient location, want a kitchenette AND a great view of Te Anau right from your room!

Hubs and I enjoyed having our own apartment like space and shopped at the local "dairy" (grocery store) where we were good citizens and returned our "trundler" (cart) (I digress, but I love all the new vocab we've been exposed to in NZ); after many meals out, it was nice to enjoy some low key time and slightly healthier food at home. The staff is very thoughtful and made recommendations about places to go and things to do while we were in Te Anau. We took most of the recommendations (Milford Sound with Real Journeys, the Fiorjdlands Movie, Redcliff and the Kepler Track) and were not disappointed. We enjoyed the little touches such as finding a mint on our bedside tables each night and the way the tub included candles and scented bath water sachets. We made use of the DVD lending library in the lobby and caught up on some New Zealand based films ("The Fastest Indian" was adorable). Finally, free wifi was a wonderful thing as well! Location wise, the Radfords is great and is an easy walk to town. It's a little spendy at $200/night even during the off season, but we truly enjoyed our stay!

This city is beautiful and very cozy. There are tons of places to visit all around this small town. Milford Sound, Key Summit and the rest of Fiordland National Park. Word of the wise, most hotels and stores here close before 8:30, so if you've booked a hotel make sure you either check-in during the day or arrange for a late check-in. I seems like nothing was open after 10 pm, so if you're traveling late, make sure you have your dinner plans in advance. They have a Gas Station with decent prices. A Fresh Choice grocery store to restock your food supply, some great restaurants, and some amazing places to visit that are close. Enjoy! Oh, and make sure you touch a sheep.

Only complaint would be they definitely to need to upgrade the TV. Rooms come with a free breakfast buffet, awesome! We also ordered room service one day, which arrived quickly and tasted delicious. Small town with some shops, good restaurants, and nice motels like this one. I stayed in a Bella Vista in Wanaka on the way down. I guess it's a chain in NZ? I dunno but I've liked both rooms. In Te Anau, you get a small little apartment suite with a small kitchenette and my room came with a spa/tub. Very clean. Very quiet. The motel is about 1/4 of a mile from the town center where all the restaurants are so you can easily walk there by crossing the park across the street. You're about the same distance to the lake where you can walk along the lakeside trail to your heart's content because it connects to another lake way down in the distance. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. But stayed out of your way if you didn't need anything which is a plus. There are coin operated laundry facilities on the grounds but they require NZ two dollar coins. Enjoyed my time in Te Anau. Everyone suggested I skip it or just use it as the gas station to Milford Sound from Queeenstown, but I loved it.

Three of us stayed in cabin #2 and two stayed in a lovely room in the lodge. All accommodations were very nice. Beautiful views, clean rooms and comfortable beds. The reservation came with hors d' oeuvres, a delicious dinner and then breakfast in the morning.

The lobby was dark and looked like it hadn't been repurposed since the 70's (not in a charming way). As we arrived to our room, we found the lobby's essence of a Reno motel to be true to the room as well. The lighting in the bathroom was that of a horror film and the shower curtain did not meet the tub, so some flooding took place after each shower. Due to the difficulty in finding lodging the owners are getting away with charging top dollar for a subpar product.

There is a kitchenette, which is really handy when prepping meals for days in advance. Everything is clean and thoughtfully done. Bathrooms have all kinds of heating contraptions, which come in handy if you need to do laundry and want to hang dry some stuff. The staff at the motel are really helpful and kind. We even were able to leave our car parked right out front for four days. Highly recommend this motel.

The place has a laundry and ironing area although only one washer, and one dryer, which may mean a build-up in the queue, but definitely a welcome feature. There is ample parking as well on the premises, and some rooms face the beautiful lake. Do say hi to the receptionist, he was kind and very welcoming.
