On the picturesque HWY 197 between the Red Woods and the Northern Bank of the famed Smith River where there is never a damn and truly Salmons come up to spawn every year, the county's well maintained golf course sits with one of the best hidden restaurant that offers many interesting foods including best French Dip with absolutely gorgeous flavors and plenty of Delicious meat and Áju, and simple but flavorful salad with coldest beer from the tap and variety of bottled beer and cans of beer. The grass can be inconsistent in length, and there are holes where the ground can get swampy or rock hard depending on the weather. The golf carts have maps & GPS. So that's awesome. Good driving range w $3 buckets. Clubhouse has a good beer & drink collection, good little kitchen. Lounge area & shop are good too. All around, if you just want an inexpensive place to hit the range or play a round, it's a good option. Especially considering it's one of 2 public courses in the county.

It's also the place where the legendary golfers likes of whom you had only heard about walked and played rounds of this game meant for Gods such as Bobby Jones and PGA champions of old! The real true PGA teaching pro is the new GM and gives lessons. The new chef for the Restaurant reserved for the members only can whip up some mean Club Sandwiches and plentiful Cesar Salad. The back nine is totally different from the front nine, each of the holes more challenging than the other with narrow fairways lined by the giant Redwoods and old pine trees. The par threes are rare and longer than any that I am used to and par fours are very long. The bunkers are located where you can't hardly escape one or two per game. If you're long distance driver and shoot straight, this one is for you. Nice quaint pro shop with limited offerings but they have everything you need! The social membership is available for limited golf but full access to the outdoor pool and the rest of the amenities and unlimited golf and practice range balls for the entire family for the fairly cheap monthly membership around low $400's. If you're an avid golfer and you want the best golf course anywhere in the Northern California, I recommend this quiet, historic country club that will transform you into the glorious past where your money went little further and you can actually play in peace!
