Spoke with the folks at the FBO, after leaving a message at Wilco. They said they have the phone number of Steve at Wilco, and said they would contact him also. Steve promptly contacted me. We spoke briefly about the problem. He assured me he would take a look very soon, which he did. He called me a short time later at the Airshow, and informed me the issue was resolved and I was good to go. Between the on field FBO and Steve at Wilco, I could not have had a better experience at any airport. Truly a first class operation all around. Many thanks to both parties involved.

Can't recommend Spectrum Aero Maintenance enough. They took care of my best friend and I when we…read moreended up stranded with engine issues. We were flying our Cessna 172 across the country from South Florida to California when one of our cylinders went out on our Continental 0-300 engine. Bobby who is the owner and manager of Spectrum took care of us with his team and prioritized getting our plane fixed so that we could get home safely and in a timely manner. After a new cylinder replacement we were able to fly 25 hours back to Southern California. Huge recommendation for this team and Bobby and Carlos who are by far the most helpful and honest A&P's I have worked with. Wish Spectrum Aero had a facility in Southern California. I would get any work regarding aviation maintenance with them in a heartbeat.

Bobby explained to me the flat rate cost and projected timeline of 3 weeks if things went smooth and no parts delay. My drop off date was Nov 31st near holidays so I was expecting some delay. To my suprise the crew delivered on time and everything went smoothly. I have 1964hrs on my original io550g which has been very well maintained and she was still very strong showing compression in the 70s. Brakes were due but Bobby said only 1 as other looked like it was fairly fresh. I thought I needed a costly battery but he figured out it was a relay issue and corrected. Battery tested good. He never up sold me and saved unecessary costs. Thats a sign of a honest group. My plane flew extremely smooth event free on way home. I feel completely satisfied with honesty and quality of work. I am already on schedule for next year and will recommemd Spectrum Aero to anyone needing aviation maintenence.

Did an…read moreoil change on my Piper Archer, and did a decent job (although oil change is not exactly a tough task), then blacklisted me as a client due to the fact that I wrote about my bad experience with the Orlando Christian Flying Club on my blog, he apparently felt that meant I would write bad things about him at some point (well I guess you ended up being right, but it was pretty stupid to think that calling me, yelling at me about a bad review that had absolutely nothing to with you, without even fully reading it, blacklisting me and treating me badly would prevent that. I was actually going to write good things about you until that happened). Very flaky individual. The SouthEast ramp is a close knit community so he will surely get people to rush to his defense. Although I believe him to be competent mechanic, his behavior towards me was unprofessional and unnecessary. With other choices out there ask yourself if it is worth risking being treated like I was treated. I shudder to think about what I would have done if this had happened while he was doing an annual inspection and the plane was in pieces.

Essentially they rebuild, restore and maintain World War II aircraft- to FLYING CONDITION! At any given time, there are several aircraft- with so much history- in some state of repair. Just walking through the hangar, you can see, smell and touch some incredible history, and seeing these planes in this state- with panels and parts missing, the ability to look inside and see the working parts- is fantastic! And if you're lucky- you will see them fly, which is such a joy to see and hear these historic warbirds! This is a hidden gem in New Smyrna, and I highly recommend a visit if you are near- you will not be sorry!
