This bookshop is like something out of a film (or a book!).
Floor-to-ceiling bookshelves are filled with everything from gardening manuals to rebound first editions of Hugh MacDiarmid's work. You will find things here that you wouldn't find anywhere else!
This is run by Sally and Ian King, two literature experts who have been in the business for a long time, and know a LOT about Scottish writing in particular. They are poets, publishers, and bookbinders as well, and Sally is a trained librarian. What this pair don't know about literary and book culture isn't worth knowing.
The first weekend in September is Callander poetry festival, which is run out of the shop.
The shop also contains cats! It sells seasonal tomato plants. It is also home to some beautiful chickens who live in the big garden (which is open to the public, Sally and Ian will show you if you ask).
This is a home-from-home for many of the poetry community in Scotland, and a great place to buy books. read more
