With the support of Smith Point Sea Rescue (SPSR), we conducted a ceremony at the site of the collision, which is in the Chesapeake Bay near the mouth of the Potomac River. The owner of Britt's Garden kindly provided a beautiful wreath with 11 red carnations to honor each of those who lost their lives and this wreath was placed over the side at the site of the collison. As it turns out, Jensee, the owner who made us the wreath, found out her grandfather, Petty Officer Ray Rogers, served on the Cuyahoga in WW2. With her help, we had her uncle and aunt and another family member join us today.

The presentation that had been planned was ruined, when the flowers were delivered to the person we were trying to surprise, hours before anyone even knew if she would be successful at the milestone that we hoped to celebrate. Multiple times I contacted Smith's to ask whether they could offer me a partial refund, in acknowledgement of their mistake. The owner did not respond, despite having my contact information. When I did finally got her on the phone, she was defensive and took no responsibility for what had happened.
