I've always enjoyed exploring the Garden City Center, an open-air shopping center in Cranston, and…read moreI've seen signs for Garden City Center Farmers Market around. I had the opportunity to visit on Sunday, September 14th. Garden City Center's historic gazebo green transforms into a vibrant, open-air Farmers Market. The Farmers Market is every Sunday from May 18 through September 28 from 10 AM to 2 PM. I wandered and checked out the local vendors. There were a great variety of them. I purchased a really cute coaster from The Book Emporium RI. The Book Emporium RI sells books that are wrapped and you have a blind date with a book. I also purchased a lavender sachet from 15 Lavender Place. I spoke with the owner and she told me all of the lavender is lovingly home-grown and hand-harvested, ensuring the highest quality and care go into every product. There were soothing lavender eye pillows, relaxing neck wraps, sprays, and bundles of dried lavender. I also went to Fully Rooted to purchase two bottles of freshly pressed juices-Watermelon Slice and Golden Greens. There were also local food trucks, farm booths, and local makers. The Garden City Center Farmers Market is a market for everyone. Either if you just want to stop for coffee, get produce for the week, flowers, dog treats, see alpacas, and so much more.

I have been a fan of PROVIDENCE MALL ever since it Opened in August 20, 1999!…read moreI used to visit often but in 2017 H&M OPENED at the Mall, I had a few good Friends working there so I would drive down and shop more often! One of my favorite haunts to shop is Williams Sonoma and still one of my places to shop! I have seen this place mobbed with shoppers and I have seen this place struggle at certain times but in all it has been a big draw for shoppers with plenty of parking! The massive food court has always interested me to sit and grab food while I take a rest to shop again! What really peaked my interest in the Mall was in 2024 while home I watched a documentary called SECRET MALL APARTMENT on Cable which was a true to life story of 8 Rhode Island Artists who actually built a 750 square foot Apartment hidden in the hidden spaces of the Mall! In 2003 and supposedly lived undetected and unnoticed by anyone for about 4 years! It was fascinating to see in the movie the amount of furniture and items they got past security or anyone ! To think I was there shopping and had no idea this was happening under my nose while in the mall! So, since the discovery of said Apartment This Mall has been something of a surprise and I will continue to enjoy my shopping experience here always! I hope that all the stores get lots of foot traffic to continue being a staple to the Mall!

We have been many times to eat, shop and relax...the area is in a residential setting, so for those who live nearby, it's like a block or two away walk to get a French croissant, grab the latest bestseller novel or get a funky lamp from a home decor store. GREAT LITTLE AREA OF PROVIDENCE…read more============================== My family and I checked out some of the stores in Wayland Square before having lunch at Red Stripe yesterday. It reminds me of Old Town Pasadena, but on a much smaller scale. I really like it. We went in the West Elm store and my in-laws bought some things for their home. We also went in a cute ladies boutique on the corner. My sister-in-law has purchased some things there. Great area to dine and shop.

There are a few interesting food stops, including Lobanton, and even a shop dedicated to H.P. Lovecraft merchandise. I also appreciated the historical photos displayed throughout. A couple of things to note: Parking isn't free - there's a garage across the street and paid street parking nearby. Also, accessibility could be an issue - I didn't notice a wheelchair ramp on one side of the mall (maybe there's one on the other side?). Overall, it's a neat place to explore, especially if you appreciate history and architecture, but it's more of a quick visit rather than a full shopping experience.
