I filled up my car on March 10 at King Petroleum 353 Salem St Medford MA. After I drove out, my car stalled approximately 1/2 mile away and would not restart. After being towed to the dealership, they found the fuel badly contaminated with water . What more can you ask for, other than not taking credit cards? OK, maybe offering up more products on your shelves other than antifreeze would make it a little more inviting.....but I'm not here for a Snickers bar, I'm here for the cheap, imported oil. Right off the highway. CHECK! Easy left and right turn once you are done because of a stop light. CHECK! Cheapest gas in the entire area. CHECK! You never have to get out of your car because it's full serve. CHECK! There are six pumps and you may end up waiting for a cycle or two of vehicles to get done. But who cares, turn off your idling engine as to not waste the precious gas you have and fill up on the cheapest black gold on the north shore, or at least a few cents within it. Wow, I am extremely disappointed. This is a full-service station and they will exploit their services to gain some extra cash. I asked for regular. I didn't even think of asking for a specific amount, I thought the attendant could assume to fill it up. He comes back to the window and asks for $5, I give him this confused look and I keep looking at the meter because I didn't understand how a fill-up for an empty tank could cost $5. He says, "you asked for 5 right?" and I chuckled and kindly said, "oooh. no, I need a fill up!" He fills up the tank and comes back to the window and requests $27. I keep looking back at the pump meter again and it says $22. He then responds that he had to "reset" the meter and added $5..... Such a PUNK I gave him the benefit of the doubt and even gave him a dollar tip. I should have read the reviews!!! 5 days later, I see that my engine light is on. I take out my manual to see what's up. One of the causes is driving with the gas cap open. I ignore that for a day. Then my curiosity got to me and I unlocked the fuel door. This SCUM BAG had the audacity to place the gas cap loosely on top of the opening. I am still so infuriated by this malicious act. I wanted to drive in and talk to the manager or even give the place a call, but it seems that this place has been running like this for years. And my concerns would fall upon deaf ears. Do you remember way back when, gas was well under $3/gallon? I remember. Then I recall when it spiked (directly after I bought my new car...) and just kept edging ever higher. In order not to get nasty flashbacks of those times, and have my wallet, bank account and I all feel comfortable about filling up, I try to find the least expensive gas stations around. If you are driving down Salem Street (quickly accessed from 93 and 16) in Medford, King's is the place to go. They have the lowest prices around. This means that sometimes there is a line to wait in, as they mostly only have one attendant, and it's cash only (at least I'm pretty sure it is, I've only used cash assuming that they don't take cards) so get your green together before you go. The guys I've interacted with have been consistently nice at this location, they are always good at directing people up to the furthest pump so they can get more people in and out of there in a timely fashion. Final favorite feature? They are open early in the morning. This means that before rush hour gets all crazy and takes over your life, you can stop and get gas. read more

I don't remember the last time I pumped my own gas. 100% at your service! Pump and go? What else could you need? My Honda Civic cost $30 to fill up, I miss those days when it use to be $20... But, that's neither here nor there. I just know that, there isn't any other place in this whole area that I can get it at that low cost. When leaving this gas station, and you hit the intersection: For the love of Holy Hell, PLEASE hit the censor that triggers the traffic light green! Stopped by this gas station at 2:15PM 12/19/20. Told the guy I wanted $40. He put in $20 and stopped. Then I told him I wanted $40. So he reset and I told him to fill up. The meter read $26.70. So in total I owed him $46.70. When he came to my window, I gave him two $20 bills from my wallet and first, then gave him $8 ($5, $1,$1,$1). He took the $8 and drop that back to me with a $20 bill. Then say that he's confused that he needs a $20. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and gave him two $10 bills. He was still acting confused. At that point I know this guy was trying to con me. So I told him I gave him such as such already. He started pretending to get mad and said that I want to take all his money. Back and forth continue, he said he would go inside an check. 5 minutes later he came out saying that he only has $8 dollars. Saying that If he stole me money he will not feel right the next few days. I guess this is not the first time they pull this stunt based on other people's experiences. This guy sold his character for $20. There are 5 King petroleum gas stations in Malden and Medford. I'll never go to any of these places ever again. I stopped at Kings this morning to get gas and put air in my tires. There was no one at pump so I walked inside and sitting in a chair was a man counting his money..I asked him if he could assist me with putting air in my tires..he abruptly said "no, it is not my job", I said "what is your job?" He said "pumping gas". To which I replied "but there is no one at the pumps, can't you help me?"he shook his head and said "NO"..I left without getting air or gas...I will never go back! read more

I came to King Petroleum with my boyfriend to get an oil change. The person working in another department told me to go to the oil change section where it would get done. He told me the worker was "sleeping" and he had to go wake up him. THAT WAS STRIKE ONE. 2. We drive up to the garage. The worker tells my boyfriend in creole to put his foot on the gas and drive into the garage. ok. 3.After we drive in, he starts to raise the car up so that he can do the oil change, WHILE WE ARE IN THE CAR. I tell him no. I don't feel comfortable being in the car while you're doing an oil change. Its not safe. STRIKE TWO!. -So my boyfriend and I get out of the car. The first worker that was working in the other department comes and asks us why we drove into the garage....and I try to tell him that his co worker told us to........ (I guess he wasn't supposed to). THEN He tries to charge me $60 to do an oil change for my 2014 Toyota Corolla. Then I tell him no, I usually pay $30 elsewhere. Thats a lot. Then he goes no I'm sorry actuallly, $80 not $60. Yes I'm a young woman and look young, but I'm 24, and know some things about cars. An oil change is not $80. Sorry. STRIKE THREE ! Wrapping up, I will never ever go there again, and I absolutely do not recommend this place. I am disappointed in their gas services. I went to get gas and the attendant forget to put the gas cap back on and did not close the gas lid all the way. If I had not noticed that the lid was not closed then I would never have noticed the missing gas cap. I was able to go back and they found the gas cap. And while I understand while I understand that people make mistakes it is concerning that they forgot to put both the cap on and close the gas lid all the way. read more

These guys are absolute con artists and should be under investigation. They WILL try to scam you if you get your inspection sticker there. And no, I'm not talking about the typical "We recommend changing your air filter, we can do that for you for $X" to try to get a little more service. I'm talking about refusing to pass your car unless you buy parts from them - for me it was wiper blades and new rotors (parts that aren't even relevant to a car inspection). Yes, he said there was a problem with my rotors (there wasn't) and he couldn't pass the car unless I bought them from him. When I said no he threw a fit and passed the car anyways, but only if I promised to bring the car back for the new rotors. Dream on pal. I brought the car by a year later (giving them the benefit of the doubt) and when the guy pulls the car into the garage he took my wiper blades off, threw them on the ground, and put new ones on without asking! When I asked him what he was doing he said I needed new blades or he couldn't pass the car. I told him to put the old blades back on and pull my car out, and after a little hissy fit he did it. They're purposely looking for people who don't know what they're doing so they can scam them. DO NOT fall for it. On top of that they will try to scam you out of gas by rounding up, pretending they don't hear the amount you wanted and charging you whatever they want, etc. These guys are total scammers so please don't go to them for anything. They are by far the closest gas station to me and I go out of my way to avoid them. There will come a time when they try this on the wrong person and the police get called. read more

I have never been treated so rudely. I pulled up for full service and the attendant stomped over. I politely asked him to please fill it with regular. He grunted at me and spat back "I have to lady". He proceeded to slam around my gas cap. Had I not been coasting on fumes I would have pulled away at that point. When he came back with my credit card slip he was swearing and going on about the other customers and what idiots everyone was and couldn't we see he couldn't go any faster. Saw a good price for gas and pulled over to fill up. Was a full-serve station, so I let the attendant pump my gas. He had a handful of cash when I gave him the full dollar amount on the pump--that I counted twice before he came to collect. I was digging for change to finish paying when he turned around for a half second and said I had shorted him $15. I know I gave him the full dollar amount because I counted it twice and remember feeling lucky that it didn't cost any more since I was out of cash in my wallet.. I asked him again and he waved two 5 dollar bills that I did not have (let alone give him) as "proof" that I had shortchanged him. Now I know to: 1. never come here again and 2. always count the amount i give out loud to the attendant so that this never happens again. read more

Pump sprayed gasoline all over my car and the attendant just walked away. This is a full-service (hah) station. The very slow attendant was running my card after the pump stopped, and I was on my way to work (with this stop already taking longer than anticipated because oddly he kept trying to return my card to me and closed my gas tank before filling my car), so I decided just to remove the pump and close my tank on my own to speed up this slow endeavor. Now, I'm in my thirties, and have been a car owner for decades, so I've pumped my fair share of gas - even used to drive for work. As soon as I started lifting out the pump, gas starts spraying out everywhere. I may be a blonde woman, but I know how to pump gas, and this was not my fault. I checked the pump screen to see if it had somehow started running again and see that no, it was still stopped, but it read 14.85 gallons dispensed. I drive a Honda accord. Small sedan. My tank was low, at about 1/4, but almost 15 gallons??!!! In the years of owning this car, even when the gas indicator light is on, I have never put in almost 15 gallons. Clearly my tank was grossly overfilled, hence the spewing gasoline all over me and my car. Not sure if the attendant improperly placed the pump in my car and walked away, or if the pump's fill indicator is broken, but either is disconcerting, not to mention the rude lack of apology and failure to offer to help clean anything, didn't even give me a paper towel. Even if I had been a first-time driver that sprayed myself when attempting to pump gas, gasoline is flammable & dangerous and the customer should be shown a bathroom to wash hands and the car should be wiped down. This man just glared at me and walked away. When I attempted to show him that 15 gallons were pumped into my not-empty tank, he just said "I don't know," and turned away. Totally dismissed me, didn't even look at my gas tank or so much as glance at my car. I don't know how safe it is, to drive with an overfilled tank. Beware scammer gas station! Gave the guy who pumped gas $20 to pay for $19 gas, turned my head and the guy said I gave him $5. I got confused paid the gas by credit card, not realizing that the guy had hid my $20 bill. Didn't realize I got scammed until I got home and counted money in wallet. Called the cops on these guys today. Handed them $10, asked for $10. Attendant fills my tank (I did not know) walks over and demands $48. Said I never game him $10. Points out to other motorists who were spending $40 or more. Threatened to call cops if I did not pay. So I call cops. Attendant said "everything is cool" , begins to visibly get nervous. I found this place on the "Gas Buddy" app and stopped on a trip north on 93. I advise to stay away!! I filled up my car with diesel fuel (about half a tank) Now my otherwise perfectly maintained and fairly new car is completely destroyed. I got some miles, to the next state even. Then car conked out and had to be towed to a dealership. The dealership found VERY tainted fuel (they showed me and it almost looked like oil and vinegar) as well as a lot of metal bits in the fuel, the lines and filters - definitely from the bad fuel source according to the mechanic, it certainly appears that this place is the cause. I am told that in no way were the car mechanicals a cause, it was from bad fuel. The car now may need a new engine, all fuel lines, gas tank etc. This will be many thousand dollars, lots of time and headaches. I believe it is prudent to avoid this problem for yourself, and do NOT go here!! read more

On March 23rd around 12:40, I filled up my car at the gas station on 353 Salem St.. The payment was $31.39. I felt it was a little weird: usually the attendants working in the cash-only gas stations are good at making the number even. He knocked on my window and I handed him $31 first. When I was digging out the change, he knocked on my window again and showed me that I gave him $22, not $31. Did I count it wrong? So I took one dollar back and gave him another 10-dollar bill. I just went to bank before the gas station. I remembered that I had four 10-dollar bills. I sat in my car and counted my money again. All 10-dollar bills were gone. Yes, he knows how to pick the right person: a mother with a 3-year-old sitting in the car always tries to get the things done asap. He made $9 more by playing magic games with me. Shame on you! I will never go back to the gas station, neither will my husband. The gas station will loss over $2000 business annually by hiring a magician. read more

Make sure when you get gas here that they start the pump at $0.00 . Just got ripped off for over $10...they kept the pump running from the last customer. This is the second time this happened to me. I caught them the first time and figured it was an honest mistake, this time I was preoccupied and they took advantage. I drive a camry, and know for sure it does not hold 40 gallons. read more
