Some people were dancing but I feel like there were still too many people on the sides and in other rooms just sitting around. The place can feel pretty crapped given that the ceilings are so low in some areas. I think this place is connected to another place (?) or at some point it was separated because past the toilets you'll see that it takes you to a completely separate place with a different DJ/music. I didn't really like this area too much, but it was easier to get a drink since there were less people. The place overall just seemed tacky and as if any DJ could come and perform here. I wouldn't really return, although I hear the gay club scene in Stockholm is not really much to talk about as there isn't any really solid places.

The Swedes have a feeling of natural, open confidence & assertiveness that seems less pronounced in the other Scandinavian countries possibly because Sweden retained its militaristic spirit up until very modern times. Like in Berlin which also gives off a confidence that is so important for making a hot scene, the milieu at SLM exudes a very playful, experimental willingness to have a good time. It is also a very international scene with many players especially from all over Europe & North America. The first time I went was in the summer of 1993 where I went down a staircase and was met & welcomed by a young moustached member of SLM in a Swedish Navy officer's uniform. The entrance fee was nominal, & there is a bar where you can get good Swedish beer so you can cruise the bar w/ a beer in hand and check out the scene. There are plenty of different spaces to play in for those w/ different fetishes & inclinations. And you don't necessarily have to speak Swedish to join in. Sometimes body language, the look in the eyes, & wearing leder or a police uni speak louder than anything being said eloquently in any language. In 2002 I went down the same set of stairs, but found they had changed the set up enough that I couldn't relate to the way it was before. I suppose SLM changes the interior to keep the site from becoming too familiar & boring. However, the same friendly openness was still in force. I encountered two men from New York City, a bearded Sir & his bearded boy where 3 Americans met respectively 6,000 & 3,000 away from home. Later we accidently met at Drottningholm Royal Swedish Palace, which had a theater much like in the spirit of Teatro Olympico by the classical Renaissance architect, Andrea Palladio, in Vicenza, Italia, so the stars seemed aligned to our meeting. Nothing but good memories of Stockholm from visiting the Swedish Royal Palace, Kunliga Slottet & old town on Gamlastan Island just to the north of SLM. There is sophisticated culture of all different levels, but the happenings at SLM for me were the fondest to remember on my visit to Sverige. I want to thank the volunteer members of SLM who have really set up a great, welcoming space for all who come here. Skål! 5 Yelp stars for exceptional, warm hospitality.

Being a leather and fetish bar it requires dress code by the patrons. For women and straight people interested in BDSM and fetish there are other clubs and bars available. A 12-month membership is 400 SEK, a trial for a month 150 SEK, while a single entry for non-members is 50 SEK. A couple of times SLM hosts open houses where non-members are welcome as well, e.g. around World AIDS Day and during Stockholm Pride. The bar is located in a basement of a house and one has to ring the door to be let in. Wardrobe, bar - everything is run by members. Kudos to them for helping others to enjoy themselves. To some a visit to a BDSM/leather/fetish bar may be perceived a scary and frightening but I have to say that this is one of the friendliest gay places I know in this city. Yes, there is a tough and cruisy attitude but also the possibility to actually talk with someone. I am not a member myself but I am always very delighted when I have gone during the open houses.

The night we went, DJ Ferronato spun while playing the sax and it was a recipe for dance floor magic. The venue is quirky and fun, being on a ship (complete with sharks and pirates hanging from the ship's hull) and the wrap around deck offers a bit of fresh air with a Stockholm waterside skyline. We only came for the nightclub, and the diversity and energy made for a memorable evening.

At the first bar, we met with the pub crawl leader and paid the 250 SEK there. We got 3 shots one at each of the bars and the third club and a small discount on drinks when we show our pub crawl wristbands. Also, entrance to these bars and clubs were free. There were a lot of expats and tourists as well with varying backgrounds and ages. So it was a great way of experiencing the Stockholm nightlife, and to meet people from all over the world. We went from Gamla Stan to the Katarina area. We met up at around 8:30 - 9pm at the first bar and arrived at the last club at around 12am. We ended the night early at around 12:30am. Definitely worth it if you don't have much time in Stockholm and want to experience the nightlife here!

As it was mid afternoon, the place was very quiet, although there was a band setting up for a later performance and it's clearly a very popular live music venue. There were lots of decent tunes being played on the PA while I sipped my reasonably priced pint and it was a very comfortable experience, sinking into comfy red armchairs and admiring the wall hangings that offset the dark wooden interior very nicely. The staff were very friendly and happy to pass on the Wifi password too. A decent pub that would be well worth returning to when the live music gigs are on.
