I do not frequent pawn shops, but my identity was stolen and all of my accounts were frozen for about 3 weeks. I needed CASH IMMEDIATELY. I went to a few other shops before I found NEW LIBERTY and they took advantage of me because I was desperate. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID. IF YOU GO ANYWHERE OTHER THAN NEW LIBERTY, YOU WILL BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF. This is the ONLY Pawn Shop to go to in NYC. Roni is a stand up guy. Whether you are looking to SELL your items or PAWN them, you have to be careful with other shops. They are not looking to form long term relationships. Rather, they prey on the needy and will take advantage of you when you need help the most. If you are LOOKING TO SELL...Roni will give you TOP DOLLAR compared to anyone else. His quotes were 20%-30% HIGHER than his competitors. Not only will you get MORE MONEY, but you will also feel COMFORTABLE. He will not pressure you to sell anything and he always has your best interest in mind. No, you are not going to get retail prices, but he will show you what the retail price is and then give you a quote that all parties are happy with! If you are LOOKING TO PAWN...again, you ARE going to get TOP DOLLAR. Most likely 20%-30% MORE than other shops. He also gives one month, NO INTEREST, for new clients. I have had terrible experiences at other stores where items go missing, are not in the same condition as I left them, or take 30 minutes to find. When you come back to New Liberty to get your property, you will be in and out in two minutes and everything will be in the same condition as you left it. Roni will talk to you like he's known you for years and you will be on your way, smiling, as you walk out. Thanks Roni for the exceptional experience! If I ever come across tough times again, this will be THE ONLY place that I go. I cannot thank you enough for helping me out! I hope that other people read this review and decide to use NEW LIBERTY instead of the other crooks that prey on those in need. -Tyler

After negotiating and re-confirming a new and firm price, he then offered to pay less. I am not planning on going back. Seems like these guys will run you in circles, and even tell you that you have a deal, just to keep you in the discussion and investimg more time into it. They make all kinds of chit-chat like to learn more about the history of the items which is irrelevant. I am avoiding them and not going back. If you can sell your stuff to someone you know who can appreciate it and not try to take advantage of you. And if you have gold to sell, you can send it to costco (see online) and other reputable places that will give you 90% of the value. Updated Review: October 2014 The experience of having a deal with them and then returning back to the store only to be offered notably less was a true waste of time and effort. People, your scrap gold is probably worth more than you think it is. And no, we can't "work something out and fix this the negative review." The review stands because it was a horrible experience. Next time we'd go to 47th Street and ask around go to 5-10 places for the highest price, which should be 90% of the gold value based on a fair review of the karat quality and weight of the scrap gold. I used this shop to sell some jewelry and I was disappointed by their inconsistent information…read more First I went to the location near me and was told that I needed to go to their other location in order to get full price for the items I wanted to sell because they could only give me a price for the gold, not the jewels (precious stones). I explained that I'm disabled and that getting to the other location would be a hardship for me, but they insisted that's where I had to go. So I made the difficult trip to the other location and they told me there that they had no way to figure out the worth of the stones, so they would only give me a price for the gold. This means I could have sold the jewelry at the first location and didn't need to go through so much trouble and pain. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to sell to them because it's not possible for me to get around and check other shops, but they deceived me so I don't trust them to make another sale.
