Outstanding lentil soup with bread and great value for money at 4.5euro. A solid lunch. But the mixed grill was delectable and showcased what this place is about--grilled lamb, kebab, kofta and chicken with rice and couscous. Open until 06:00h, cash only.

I've had mixed grills here and they were very good, but what sets this place apart (and please…read moredon't confuse it with Gazi Antep, which is on the same block) are both the döner kebab and something most westerners never think of trying, the işkembe çorbası, also known as 'panzensuppe' or tripe soup. A brief word on the döner kebab (which I get in the dürüm döner form, where the bread wrap is thin like a flour tortilla): for some reason, it is, for me, the most consistently satisfying rendering of the classic German version of the classic Turkish kebab sandwich. The combination of meats and veggies and flavorings has always been perfectly balanced. But now for the something remarkable, the işkembe çorbası. Everywhere else I've had it, and I do mean everywhere, there is far less meat, and the flavor tends to be way more dishwater. The işkembe here is loaded with both substance and flavor. You can get it with garlic, which means a spoonful of a garlic sauce, and then add red pepper flakes ('urfa biber'). You can also indulge in free veggies (like onions and whole peppers) on the side. Not only is it the best işkembe çorbası you can find, but this is one of the most delicious and satisfying soups you'll ever experience. Köz Antep is on a nice, leafy, out of the way street; it is close to the 'Dom' fun fair; it is a bit of a walk from public transportation (S-St. Pauli, or the Reeperbahn), but for me that walk whets the appetite something enormous.

In Germany you have several spots where you can find Dönerbuden - small little, mostly Turkish…read moreplaces, where you can get Döner (a pita filled with lamb or chicken meat). Normally i would eat those around the main station in hamburg. But this time i took the chance to try a spot way out of the Turkish comfort scene. In Osdorf. As i know the turks don't need any MSG to give their food any taste, so i always enjoy an original place like this. And i was absolut delighted. a modern restaurant with very friendly guys. and good food, i had the Grill Platte it would translate to mixed bbq/grill plate. and i had to try the chicken döner and the falafel. Start with the bad one, the falafel wasn't good at all, try and i can tell it wasn't made fresh, i would say it was frozen stuff. The Chicken Döner was just perfect and fresh. And the mixed grill perfect. But it took them a lot of time to prepare the mixed grill. This is - of course different - to the hot spot in the Citycenter. But after all, i was absolut surprised to find this spot with friendly guys and good food that fare away from a Turkish neighbour hood. After the dinner i had a turkish tea, i had to pay for it - in the city this tea is mainly on the house. but thats ok. They earned there four stars!
