I think it was much much worse a years back, but it's actually good. The food isn't the best but it's bearable. I did love the staff. They made me feel more at home and did help me as much as they could at night. It can get really cold and I'm saying really cold like before I got there I never wore socks in the bed, but you might want to overall the day was good. The staff are nice. It's more the patience there that you would have to worry about they can be very chaotic and drama filled. They definitely do help with the mental health part, but it will not fully go away especially for me because I didn't get to stay there long. I was in acute and I was supposed to stay around five or six days but ended up staying around 10 to 12 it's not half bad and hey, we get 12 hours of sleep and it's clean. I didn't see one bug my whole day. There are a lot of young staff there though, and let's say the young staff some of them have attitudes so just stay quiet and out of the way of them they will put you on a medication they always do and if they don't well I don't know at least my first experience to It was really nice. Get better soon much love me

It's a little confusing when you walk in because the Renova Wellness Center is two stories and has several different facilities within the building, including a gym, a tea bar, and a hyperbaric therapy center, all on the first floor. Because I was running a little late (It's a little difficult to locate their parking lot because it's on the rear of the building, and the only entrance is from Wilson Rd), I didn't have the chance to wander upstairs, but someone saw me frantically searching the unlabeled map on the wall and very kindly directed me to the float center. The man who helped me make the appointment was seated at the front desk, and he extended a warm welcome and asked my name, signally that they were expecting me. I thought that personalized touch was quite nice. A woman brought me to the float room, and upon learning that it was my first float, showed me how the features worked, explained the benefits (theta wave relaxation brought on by sensory deprivation and deep relaxation), and explained how to work the shower, the vitamin D lights, and put in the ear plugs. One complaint: The shower head was on the end of a flexible hose, which was awesome, except there was nowhere to place the shower head to keep it hands free, so I had to awkwardly hold it the whole time I was showering. The herbal shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were delightfully aromatic and sufficiently thick. The float session itself was nice, but I was not prepared for the small amount of motion sickness that I initially experienced. I think the slight, almost imperceptible movement of the water is what did me in. Once I was able to lie completely still, I did better. I did eventually get to a state of deep relaxation, but it felt like it took me about 30-45 minutes to get there. Another thing I wasn't prepared for was the amount of salt crusting that accumulated on body parts that were above the water. By the end of the session, my face was crunchy and stiff. I probably should have used the spray bottle and small face towel more often, but I wanted to get into the deep meditative state, so I only used it at the end of the session. All that aside, the weightless sensation, although slightly disorienting, was quite nice, and I feel like I would probably get better, deeper, more relaxed states with future floating sessions and continued practice. I loved that nothing felt rushed. The recorded voice gives you an 8 minute warning prior to your 60-minute float session beginning, and it calmly alerts you to the end of your session, as well. I could easily hear it even through the silicon ear plugs. No one knocked on the door as soon as the chime went off, and no one was standing immediately outside the room as soon as I was done. On the other hand, I was able to walk out of the float room and across the hall to the tea bar without saying a single word to anyone. The introvert in me didn't mind in the slightest, but others might find it a bit odd. The tea bar is a tad confusing, and it was completely unstaffed when I was there. Maybe they were short-staffed today, or maybe it was because it was a Saturday. At any rate, there's a sign saying to help yourself to some tea, and there are cups, tea filters, stir sticks, a hot water dispenser, various kinds of sugar, and a metal tin of loose leaf tea simply labeled "K-B tea." I'm still not sure what that means, but it was herbal and delicious. I put a few dollars in the "Donations appreciated" basket, but I was confused by the abundance of other tea bags that were evidently for sale, since they had "$2.99" and other prices hand written on them. I would have liked to purchase one or two, especially since there was a sign advertising a BOGO deal, but again, there was no one in the tea bar. I sat down for a few minutes and leafed through one of the many tea books on the tables in the room, but when no one made an appearance, I gave up and wandered out. So, overall, I had a very good experience. The facility is quite nice, and the staff (the few of them that there were) were very friendly and helpful; however, I wish the building was more clearly labeled inside and out, and I wish the website had a map clearly labeling each of the facilities, so newcomers would be a little less lost and overwhelmed.

They whirled her away & wouldn't let me even talk to her. I will definitely be filing a complaint because their sign clearly says an exception can be made in this instance. Who knows what they are doing to her back there? She is all alone & I'm sure she is afraid. I HATE THIS HOSPITAL! I asked the nurse guarding the front door to speak to a manager over her & another nurse came out being of NO ASSISTANCE & blaming Covid for all of this. I really don't care. I only care about THEIR SIGN which shows the exception that I clearly meet. How do you take someone who has a memory issue away from the 1 person that cares for ALL of her needs? They told me if the dr needs to talk to me, HE will call ME. WTF??? They are back they asking her a million questions, I'm sure. She is going to get flustered and upset, causing her to have even more of a medical issue than the one I brought her here for today. This place has no clue how to handle the elderly or their families during this Covid epidemic. I will never bring her here again & I'm filing a complaint everywhere I can. 8/24/20: Updating after my family member's discharge & have updated the rating because of the communication I've had with the nurse and case manager. My family member was very distraught not being able to communicate with me while in ER, but as soon as she was placed in a room, the nursing staff their helped her call. I don't know why the people are so nasty compared to the ones who handle inpatient stays, but I appreciate them trying to help her. Feeling defenseless while in physical pain is not something I wish on anyone. I'm glad she is going to be on & is back with me. I still would think a million times before bringing her back to this hospital's ER.

Once I passed the background check, I was given a parking pass valid for the next few days. I parked in the parking garage as instructed by my nieces husband. I got turned around the first time, and it took a little extra time to find the maternity ward. But the next time it was easier and I never got lost again lol. On one of my visits, I walked through the oldest structure on campus which was the original hospital built in 1827. This is the oldest military hospital in the US. It still had the original stone exterior (outsise of original hospital) which had been closed in with hallways surrounding it. I checked out some cool paintings throughout the hospital. I learned a lot of history by reading the captions of the paintings. This biulding was turned into an administrative building. The campus was huge! And very pretty as it sits on the bank of the Chesapeake Bay. There was lots of green space which was beautiful.

The handicapped parking is extremely convenient & plentiful at the Leigh Orthopedic Surgery Center. The spaces face the entrance & continues around each side of the building. I've never had to park in the spaces that require a short walk. A covered circular drive thru is a convenient drop off point at the main entrance. No valet parking is available. My Shoulder & Elbow Orthopedic Surgeon does outpatient surgery in the building. But my recent Elbow Surgery, although outpatient, was scheduled at the hospital itself. The practice requires anyone who has a Cardiologist to have surgery at the hospital, where emergency personnel are more easily accessible. My experience with both therapy & the MRIs has been excellent. The equipment & facility is state of the art in this excellent sparkling clean Medical Center. Technology is sophisticated, extending as far as doors being opened by a sensor activated by the wave of a palm. There are also hand sanitizer stations in plentiful supply in the building. I'm very impressed by the Leigh Orthopedic Surgery Center. It's now my location of choice for both Physical Therapy & Advanced Imaging,
