No one very excited about it like what we saw at LA or London where they are more interactive games. This place feels like and an outdated science lab with a smell of decay. What is great: Earth crust and wall of difference crystals are well described and with many information not seen elsewhere, and with extra description, you can see what stone/crystals are form at each layer. What cause fossils form in 3D vs the more bend 2D version. We didn't even learn this at Tar pit museum where tons of fossils are still being dig today. Excellent! Museum platform style chairs like art museum. Since AC is almost not existed there, those chairs let's you sit down and read each description leisurely. Issues: We went to LA and London's natural history museum, this is not quite as big and as imaginative. First many exhibits came from NY, second the way Frankfurt present is very textbook and boring glass boxes, while in LA, you see each animals in their fake habitat. London's displays is a more artistic approach. Museum only label 50% of its exhibits with English. Description of exhibits are not very well thought out. Dinosaurs are not to scale but they won't tell you what the scale so you think why 50ton animal is same as the 5ton one. For exhibits with English, description is much less. Theme of each room and wall has not much thoughts puts to it. Price: 10€ for adults and 5€ for kids.

In the "Bring Your…read moreDaughter to Work Day" episode, Dwight mentions the name Struwwelpeter--a cautionary tale written by Heinrech Hoffmann, who was born in Frankfurt. While in Frankfurt, yelper Sigourney W. and I decided to take a look at this Struwwelpeter Museum as it was a fairly short distance from the hotel we were staying at. The museum has many levels, and each level has different exhibits, mostly showcasing some of the originals of Hoffmann's works and very ancient copies of Struwwelpeter. What I found to be amazing was that Struwwelpeter has been translated into many languages--and there are just a few samples of these translated books showcased at this museum. The lady who works here was really friendly and welcoming. She didn't speak much English, so she and I had to speak German (well, I tried my best). She even gave me a souvenir Struwwelpeter postcard, free of charge, for which I was very grateful. She also gave us a mini tour, in Spanish (because Sigourney W. didn't speak German, and the lady happened to know some Spanish), which was really nice. This museum caters to families and children, as on the top floor there is a children's activity area. This is where I found pieces of paper where you could color in Struwwelpeter (Sigourney and I did this; it was a nice, therapeutic group activity!) And even better...there's an image of Struwwelpeter with his face cut out, so that you can put your face through and take a picture. It was totally AWESOME!!! Admission is a few euros, so it's a good deal for the history and the family-friendly atmosphere you get. A lot of the exhibits are not written in English, but I was able to read for the most part with the German I knew. I don't think many tourists come here, hence the lack of English materials available. All in all, I highly recommend this place as it was definitely a unique experience. I always lamented that Frankfurt didn't have much to do, but after coming here, at least I know there's this quaint museum that's worth anyone's time to visit. Come check it out! :)

Loved this museum...if you like history and technology. You don't have to be a geek…read more It's a walk through time staring from earliest forms of communications. It's mostly a German view of progress with little attention to British, American and other contributions. Part of what makes this interesting. For English speakers only, you will need the audio with a iPod device. All exhibits are in German...my only gripe. The audio quality is very good, and each track is about 2 mins long. And kinda follows the layout of the museum. Helpful staff. This would be 5 Stars if the exhibits were also in English. I'd estimate that the English audio covers only 1/4 to 1/3 of the exhibits in German. One fascinating fact: Hitler required every family to have a radio to listen to his propaganda broadcasts. Also learned that the Germans routinely stole telecom patents much like the China of today. A bargain at 4.5 Euros including audio headset. TIP: the exhibit portion will have no interest to small children.

This place is great for both kids and parents, and they're adding more projects over time. They even have farm animals for kids to enjoy. It's a fun experience for adults too. This is the only hilltop castle on the Middle Rhine not to have been destroyed. It has beautiful views of the Rhine River looking down. When walking up to the castle from the parking lot, there's a stairs path or uphill incline- definitely moderate walking with the uphill and stone paths so bring proper comfortable shoes to walk around in.
