My mother has picked up my daughter twice this week with a soiled diaper. On Wednesday just pee but a full diaper. Thursday pee and poop. No teachers has asked to change her until she goes back to the front desk. She now has diaper rash. I called the school today and she tells me we are investigating this because the teachers should ask do you want me to change the child's diaper before you leave. I have spoken to the teachers and they have stated even though they have a changing diaper schedule if the child is soaked they change in between that schedule. My issue is the lack of empathy and understanding from the front desk manager. She feels it's perfectly fine if the last diaper change of the day was at 3:30pm to not change diapers from that time. I gave an example of if my daughter pooped at 3:45 why would she sit in a poop diaper for two hours or even one hour? She stated that the teachers wouldn't know unless they picked up my child. You can smell poop from across the room and more importantly the teachers should be interacting with the kids so how would you not smell a poop diaper. How can you not see a diaper sagging towards her knees in the back from a pee in diaper? This woman tells me that she has two kids and NO parent checks diapers every twenty minutes. I explain to her I'm not asking for that but her diapers are full from peeing MULTIPLE times and she has not been changed. I also expressed concern that if this is happening during pick ups then this is probably going on during the day as well. More importantly the office manager states that she has called my mother for more information. My mother is not the parent of the child. What clarification do you need that wouldn't go through the parent first? I have not received a call and this has happened two days in a row. This is not insuring me you are on top of anything. All I am seeing is you are not holding your employees accountable and you are not taking any type of accountability as well. My son who is three has had no issues but he is also potty trained and enjoys the school. I don't feel this is the best place for kids under two or who are dependent on diaper changes. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. My daughter went here about 5 years ago, and my son has been going here since he was less than a year. Every teacher has been wonderful. I took my daughter to a few places before I found this place; my only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner. She went into kindergarten ahead of the class and still is. Before I tried kinder prep, I visited Challenger. As a teacher, I feel the instruction and curriculum were equally as rigorous, and Kinder Prep is way more affordable. This place is family owned and run, and that's the vibe I feel when I'm there. The facility is clean and safe. They just recently had a security code door put in. Despite a previous review, you do sign your child in and out on a classroom roster. They always have a folder for each child organized into each child's slot. This is where notes home and any other communications are found. They also do text communication. I wouldn't consider taking my kids anywhere else. 100% do not recommend this care facility. The director, mrs. shrodes is extremely unprofessional. My son learned to put himself in time out, even though the staff says they don't give time outs. My son also learned to hang his head low when he's done something wrong. It took months to get my child to undo these issues that he learned in a mer couple of months he was enrolled. I took him out immediately when I noticed problems. I believe this school is completely under-staffed & the teachers don't give their full attention to the children. I was initially excited to place my child at this facility. They had a good location and a long history of ownership. On my first visit I met with the owner and when I asked what the curriculum was for the 6-12 month old children she told me there was no set curriculum and the qualification of the care providers was "love," or something to that effect. Okay, sure, maybe that age range is a bit young for all of that. I was asked to provide food, drinks, diapers, wipes, and a pack-n-play for my child. Okay, that was probably worked into the lower price. On his first day at the facility my husband picked up our child and the care providers were across the room on their cell phones. These young women were later let go, and I was told it was because they were not being attentive. Chock one up for addressing the issue I suppose. A month or so into care I drop my child off in the morning and the care provider asks me how my kid is feeling. A bit puzzled I say, "Why?" She tells me that my child had hit his face two days prior and had a mouth full of blood. They applied ice and didn't call me, which is fine, but I was also not notified of the injury until this passing conversation. Which brings me to communication and safety. You do not need to sign your child in or out at this facility. The door is unlocked and, sometimes, there is a woman at the front desk and sometimes there is no one in the lobby at all. When a policy changes or something needs to be communicated it is put in a note and sent home in the child's belongings to be found at some point in the future. Overall, most of the care providers were qualified in "love" and were very sweet to my child. The breaking point for me and my family was the unprofessional behavior of the owner. As with any facility you sign a contract. This contract, as most, states that the facility will be closed for holidays but that payment will still be required. This is standard and perfectly acceptable. However, the way in which the policy is written allows for, effectively, any day of the year to be determined to be a holiday by the owner. Therefore, when we received notice that we would be expected to pay the full rate for care over the two week period during Christmas and New Years, when the facility would be closed six of the ten days (inclusive of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, the day after Christmas, New Years Eve, New Years Day and the day after New Years Day), we were more than perturbed. Technically only two of those six days are holidays. The reasoning was to give the staff long weekends as Christmas and New Years Day (again the only two holidays) were on Thursdays. I was instructed to use my vacation time (if I had had any) to cover their staff's vacation. Classy. I wasn't the only person perturbed by this and was told that many families withdrew their kids due to this application of the policy. As a result, the procedure for withdrawing a child changed and you were now required to give the two weeks of tuition (in cash) directly to the owner. Notice via red paper sent home in child's bag. And good luck scheduling that exchange. But the scheduling isn't as bad as the interaction with the owner who immediately goes on the defensive, interrogates you as to what you did with your other (teen) children on the dates they were out of school over the holiday break, and berates you for not thanking her for caring for your child. This facility is okay. It doesn't have a waiting list, which isn't a huge surprise. The rates are reasonable, but you get what you pay for. If you deal solely with the care providers they are mostly professional and pleasant. If you have to interact with the owner, watch out. And beware of potential last-minute closures on Groudhog Day and maybe even the day after Groundhog Day ;) read more

I LOVE this daycare! It's the only facility I have found that accepts Urban League that I can trust! Helps that it's in a great part of town. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of minor things like the following: teachers are not very educated on breastfed babies.. how to bottle feed them, etc., there have been a couple of instances where I had to stop the teachers from overfeeding my daughter. And secondly, they let go one of my favorite teachers she had. She was the only one who was extremely consistent with teach sign language to the babies. She would go out of her way to send me home with tools to teach my daughter myself. It was the little things that really showed she loves her job and cared about the children instead of it just being a paycheck. Last but not least, whenever I pick up or drop off, I'm always hearing the teachers in the older kids rooms yelling or raising their voice to the kids which really bothers me. Makes we second guess keeping my daughter there after she moves up from the rainbow, orange, and purple rooms. These are minor things to me that can be improved. Overall I trust and respect the women at this school. I have and would recommend them. read more

Very positive experience for my 3 year old as well as my 9 month old. Each child is different in this world and each child has their own personality so to label a place as bad because your son or daughter may have had a bad experience is unfair. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the staff members from the owner down to somebody who just came in to clean. My children enjoy going there my son especially loves each time he gets to go outside and play in their play area. This school is great if you want your kids to be taken care of, loved, and taught at an advanced pace. It is a family owned business and you can tell that they all treat each other like family, the students included. The daycare age (6weeks-2years) does not have a curriculum but they are loved beyond words. The teachers back there are so pleasant and love my baby and the other babies like they are their own kids and grandkids. The 2 year old class up to the kindergarten have a curriculum that is very advanced. When the kids move on to grade school, I believe they are more than ready. Kindergarten is being taught 1st grade work. The classes below them (2 years old to 5 years old) are being taught things that no other daycare offers. They don't just sit around and play all day. They learn computers, colors, shapes, how to spell, days of the week, months, holidays, about other cultures, about careers...anything you can think of, it is on the lesson plan for them to learn. They do art everyday, the play games, they go outside and the kids love it. The have special classes here like gymnastics, dance, PE, karate and more (different companies come in and teach these). You do have to bring your own lunch in for your kids and I do not mind this because my baby is picky and I get to pick what she likes and what is healthy for her. So if you're a health nut, this is great for you because you won't have to worry about what they are serving. They do offer breakfast for the kids for us parents who drop off early and they also offer snack. The only thing bad I have to say about this place is that the owner can be a little sassy sometimes but if you really sit and talk to her like I have had the chance to do, she has a heart of gold. She wants the best education for our kids and that I admire. She loves every single one of our kids. I have read previous reviews and they don't do this place justice. Kids must be signed in and out everyday. The whole building is filled with cameras inside and out. My kids and everyone else's kids are watched carefully. If a teacher can not have their undivided attention at the moment, everything is caught on camera and can be replayed. I feel as though my kids are safe and having fun. read more

This is not what I would consider a school by any means at best a subpar daycare. The staff and owner are not attentive to the kids needs and not friendly. Anyone can walk into the facility at anytime with zero security for the kids and with a staff that is nonexistent. On a number of occasion when I was there to pick up and drop off my child there was no one around and if they where they didn't even look up and acknowledge me. My daughter was enrolled there for 5 months. This place is a mess, clutter everywhere. You can not walk down the halls with out tripping over the kids back packs and lunch boxes because they said they have nowhere to put them.The owner and all the staff with the exception of the teachers ad in the PreK are rude.After catching the teacher for the PreK class yelling at the students and bringing it to the owners attention to have her tell me she supports the teacher and those kids deserve what they are getting, I was done with this school. This school is really an amazing place. My three little ones started at this school in February and I just can't say enough good things about this school. The infant room is very warm and inviting. Ms. Meno is very kind and is always so inviting every morning when she greets us. Ms. Ruby is so sweet and always has positive vibes every morning.I have stopped by during the day multiple times and everytime I do the kids are always doing an activity or dancing. My little one loves Mrs. Cruz! She is very nice and is very good at communicating with me about my daughter.The teachers are very active with the children and they dont just "babysit". My toddler comes home every day singing a song that she learned at school!! The preschool side is AMAZING!!! My four year old has learned so much in the past few months I wish I would have brought her here sooner!! Ms. Zambon is a great teacher and she really loves the children like they are her own. Ms. Hartley is also an awesome teacher and is very nice.My preschooler really loves both of them! Ms. Sharol and everyone that are teachers in the evening are all so nice and helpful when I come to pick up. I dont even have a child in Ms. Pat's class yet, but she is also an awesome teacher. Poor supervision, my 16 mo old has been injured so many times I lost track but aproaching 15 times in 3 months, and it was 90% bites from other children. when we complain or try to find out why, the staff and owner blame the child. they actually said that our baby doesnt cry when she's bitten so they cant do anything about it, what rubbish. Blamming the child for poor staffing and supervision. then after complaining and pointing out the poor supervision the owner she said to not bring her back. only problem kids with parrents who never complain can attend here. stay for away. When we first started bringing our daughter here at 8 weeks old everything was great. I am not sure what has happened over the past 3 years but this facility has become a constant disappointment. The owner is more worried about making money than the safety of the children and the moral of the teachers is horrible. The way that the owners treat their staff is not worth the minimum wage they are getting paid, and the way that they talk to parents is degrading. Their "bite policy" is a joke. They rather keep children that are harmful (drawing blood and leaving scars) to others than lose money. I have made many recommendations along with numerous other parents on how to make the rooms better and they laugh us off like nothing we say matters. They are a great at "showing" how caring they are, and how well their establishment is run.....this is a joke. While some of the teachers are AMAZING, it is not worth the trouble of dealing with the owner and there "policies", or the other teachers that are there for a paycheck and do nothing but yell and scream at the kids all day. My daughter's self-esteem and attitude have changed drastically in the past few weeks after removing her from this establishment along with the other children that have changed locations. I highly recommend looking at other locations, and comparing their policies, price sheets, and looking into more reviews about Kinder Prep Academy. I do not recommend this place! read more
