This was a wonderful dining experience - from the food to the ambiance (to the amazing bathrooms!)…read moreto the friendly staff - I can't say enough about this place. My girlfriend & I were visiting Berlin for the first time and we were wandering around after visiting Fotografiska Berlin when we came across this place. As soon as we walked in, I knew by the delicious smells that we were in for a treat. We ordered Estragon/Pear to drink - wow! It was so perfect to balance the meal. They gave us delicious pickles to start. We ordered Khachapuri Adjarian With Tuna & Egg. The bread was heavenly. We didn't know what we were getting when we ordered it with tuna, but we were so glad that we did. It was perfectly savory and delicious and the texture and flavors melded together so perfectly. We also had the Kin-Za Special Lamb & Beef Kebab - hands down the most uniquely and perfectly-spiced kebab I've ever had. we also had the Spinach and Cheese Dumplings. They were delicious but a little too heavy since we lit into everything else so fast. First of all, we didn't expect nearly as much food as we got. We couldn't finish! The food was perfectly spiced, not too heavy, and perfect for a drizzly October afternoon. We had a lovely conversation with the young woman who brought us our food. She was so friendly. I can't say anything about the ambiance, though - just go and experience it for yourself!

I love Caucasus food - but Kin-Za left me pretty flat. The food IS filling be there no doubt about that. Think carefully before you get an appetizer and a main course Because both of those are full meals. I had Soko which are mushrooms stuffed with cheese. These felt like the appetizers that might be passed at a catered wedding. They were solid but not much more than that. Khachapuri - baked turnovers that are one of their featured dishes Were less interesting than the mushrooms. On the plus side, They serve Chacha, which is Georgian brandy, made from grape leavings rather than the grapes themselves. I am guessing they serve popular everyday brands here, But popular everyday chacha is just fine. I drowned my sorrows in brandy, and left happy enough.

Which is awesome coz this is still the best Georgian food I've ever had. I've visited a few Georgian restaurants in NYC but so far, none has compared to Genazvale in Berlin. I really ought to visit the country though.. This time, my husband was with us also and we were a party of 4. Meaning, more dishes to try! We started with a couple of chilled salads, kachapuri, and a couple of entrées. Georgian salads are fantastic and rather unique in comparison to other cuisine I've had. Everything we ate was delicious and even made more so by their house wine. Georgian wine is getting trendy in NY and it is truly excellent wine. And now I'm missing this food also. I wish we had better Georgian restaurants in NY.

Pchali Mix as starter (spinach, beetroot, aubergine, walnut w/Georgian herbs) with excellent bread & cheese, also shared Khachapuri "Imeruli" - a pizza sized bread stuffed with melted cheese - very filling. The Georgian kebab (main) was also nicely spiced and the house red surprisingly good. Basically everything had an original taste, even though the ingredients were familiar. Service was also quick and we all left well satisfied. Highly likely to return.

My favorites were the Abchasura (minced meat thing), the eggplants with walnut paste and the bred w/ cheese and an egg. We also had Ajapsandali (roasted eggplants, bell peppers, ....), which was the only letdown as it tasted very bland. I wouldn't order it again. Besides, we liked the red wine a lot (see photo). The service wasn't very attentive as mentioned in other reviews, too. However, that wasn't a big issue for us.

Only reason I socked a star was because service has been excruciatingly slow. And not even so packed either. It has taken a lot of attempts to catch the waitress's attention and I've had to walk up to the bar multiple times to make requests. If they were super busy, I would understand. But so many tables are open here and I just felt like it was a result of neglect. Now, for the food. Overall it was well-prepared. Presentation is awesome. Clearly they put a lot of time into making their dishes. I ordered the abchasura, which was tasty, but ridiculously salty. I had a hard time finishing it because of that, and I came super hungry. It's served with bread. I would still probably come here again and try other dishes, in hopes of speedier and more attentive service. Maybe it was just a bad night or something was going on, so I don't want to make a final decision based on a single incident. But, for this experience, I give it 3 stars.
