My youngest daughter's Taekwondo journey began a little over 6 years ago. We initially started out at the Rancho Cucamonga KTI location. Her journey took a pause about 8 months later when Covid 19 shut everything down. The result was the closure of that dojang, but this Fontana location reached out to us and extended the opportunity for her to continue classes at this dojang. It was a bit of an adjustment for her as far as technique, style and having to almost relearn everything due to the pause forced upon her journey. Master Nick and his fellow instructors have always been patient and kind, not only to my daughter, but to our entire family. As she's grown, she's developed quite a rapport with several of the instructors. Instructor Manny has sort of taken her under his wing and guided her along the way. There's a physical dynamic to this sport, obviously, but there's also a mental aspect as well, and that's something he's been able to help her with, helping her build confidence and remove negative self-talk. They offer group classes and also private lessons, a sparring class, cardio fitness class, etc. We also enjoy the special events they have which include visits from Kona Ice, Nerf Night, movie nights, BBQ and swim parties at the local aquatics center. They also hold an annual sparring tournament. It definitely feels like a family here. My daughter officially started her black belt training the day after testing for and receiving her red stripe belt. Instructor Manny took it upon himself to make sure she had her red stripe belt prior to the beginning of training. Black belt training is no joke. It's a 10-week training on top of regular classes, a 2-day testing and 6-month probation prior to receiving. The testing was intense and intimidating, but also one of the most amazing events I've ever been fortunate enough to witness. The camaraderie these students developed was amazing to see. Parents and supporters cheering them on. We're sworn to secrecy on the process, but that black belt was most definitely earned! This past weekend, probation was over and my daughter received her first degree black belt. She looks forward to continuing on the pursue her second degree and hopefully becoming a junior instructor. Our girls (ages 5 and 8) have been going here for one year now and they love it. KTI isn't just about teaching martial arts for all ages, but they also teach about respecting one another, using your voice, being confident, self discipline and accountability. We checked out a few places before finally settling on signing up with KTI in March. All the instructors, along with Master Nick are very nice and knowledgeable. They teach the class while also making it fun for the kids, and my daughter looks forward to her class each time. We have been with KTI Fontana for over a year and absolutely love it. I have an 8 and 4 year old who attend two sessions a week. We are still new - My son started a week ago. And the instructors, Manny, Billy, Alana, and some of the others, I still haven't gotten all their names yet, have all been so good with my kiddo. He is being tested for being on the spectrum and ADHD. They are all so good with him. He has gone 2 times so far and every time he is gets out of the class he feels so good about himself. I just can't explain how much that means for us. For my son, it is good to get up and move around since he is homeschooled and the social interaction. My experience at this facility WAS great, we loved Master Nick... I had to cancel because my son was overwhelmed with school & other after school activities. They kept debiting $120 out of my bank acct numerous times after I cancelled. I had called and reminded them that we cancelled 2 months ago and weren't attending, so why are we being billed??? Then I would get an apology and after a few weeks billed again! It was very upsetting to see they weren't professional about it. ** Update ** It is now December, I still have not received the 2 months credited. And Ms. Sunny lied to my bank and told them I was in an agreement after I cancelled to restart in the fall. Which is false! She said they would call me first to confirm if we wanted to start back up again. She did call, we told her it wasn't working out & we were not going to continue. Yet, we were billed again. I have called Ms. Sunny every week for the past few months, leaving messages at both offices. Not once has she returned my call. This has been so upsetting not to be resolved. As a parent, I cannot say enough positive things about Kim's Tae Kwon Do. The respect they hold for our children and us parents is exemplary. The Dojang is always clean and upkeep. The most positive impact they have had has been with the discipline and respect they have instilled in my son. It's a great experience and my daughter and my boy had great time here. Every time when my son couldn't go to Tae kwon Do, I called and I told them I don't have time to take my son to make up class the same week or the following week and asked if he can make up classes at the end of his contract. Every time, they said yes. And I told them how many classes my son missed in total. So every time, they said missed classes can be made up after the current contract ends. Today, it's my son's contract last day. Master Nick said he did said he agreed before, but he said they now changed their agreement details and missed classes can't be made up after the contract ends. So he said today is the last class for my son. But my son missed for about 16 classes in total including the dates they had for testing. It's about 2 months (2 classes one week). It's disappointing as they did promise my son can make up those classes but Master Nick denied it at the last day. read more

This is a great martial arts studio. Master nick is a fantastic instructor, he's very passionate and knowledgeable about the art of Tae Kwon do. My kids just started here last week. They were in TKD for 4 years back in Texas. Master Nick is so amazingly energetic that the kids feed off of it. He is strict and funny. I am returning to update my review 8months ago. The reason I have drop it down to 3 stars is because this do-Jo is starting to fall short of focusing toward teaching for the love of Taekwondo but shifting toward Kids = $$$. Every marketing strategy is toward $$. Here are some examples 1) refer more friends gets u a better and more patches uniforms. Need to say that a simple logo short sleeve t-shirt cost $25. 2) I was one of the few original sign ups in August 2014 and actually paid $1200 (supposedly for 2days/week. However I found out that my neighbor (whom signed up 1month before) was only paying $1k. 3) he markets bringing a friend for sleep over events but it cause $$ 4) every belt test cost $$ (yellow and orange belt $75, green jumped to $85 and who knows how much blue and purple would cost... not to say there might be strips in between each belt). My concerns is after speaking to different TK do-Jo their belts cost about $35-$55. And remembering when I took TK (as a HS kid) my lower belt test was only $25. So only if this was disclosed at the beginning of paying the annual fees upfront, I would not have paid In full. 5) he test kids every month and some kids I felt was NOt ready for advancement. So my opinion is most belt should be 2-3 months. Lastly, to join the sparring team , this would cost u an addition $600/3months with only 2hr/Saturday . 6) when I took TK, each belt has a pattern of their own so to advance the kids to higher belt and not able to master the simple stands would beat the purpose of technique and patterns of TK. Lastly this do-Jo doesn't start breaking boards until green belt...hummm, I think this is To late but I am seeing Master nick allow the white belt students beginning to spar. I think he should have them pair up separately to practice their sparring with more instructors to guide them. So I like to upfront new members with all these cost before you commit your child into KTI. . This review is strictly the approach of how this do-Jo is targeting parents to pay for young kids trying to learn how to protect themselves.
