If the project goes South, KHS will ghost harder than Patrick Swayze. TL;DR - Breach of contract, took deposit and ghosted. Unable to locate or contact, skipped court hearing (discovered later this is a pattern). Edit: I encourage all to visit https://micourt.courts.michigan.gov/CaseSearch/Court/D46 to search for KHS or its owner Lamar Mixon to see KHS's pattern of dodging accountability. Lamar, a breach of contract renders any stipulations of that contract null and void. You had an opportunity to make your case and provide this evidence to the court, but failed to show to our hearing as well as others that day and prior. At best it shows severe negligence of accountability, at worst intention to fraudulently deceive your customers. I'm not the first, and it appears not the last, that this has happened to. It's a pattern and anyone considered using KHS's services should steer clear. Edit 3: Case has been closed with default judgement. Updated the court search URL for the more searchable location. Searching for KHS's owner, you'll soon find a pattern that is increasing in frequency. Edit 2: "Lets look at the facts" Love to. I've uploaded the same documents I provided in my case against KHS. "The work completed in the photo alone justifies the security deposit in full" Interesting. Let's do math. Deposit: $2200 Line item 2, specifying cut-and dig: $1589 Deposit - actual = $611 This all assumes line item 2 was completed, which it was not. No extension from rear of garage (only length of asphalt cut), incomplete digout (other landscaper still had to come in to dig away material to properly space and grade), no fabric lay, no debris haul. I uploaded a photo of the state of the project when it was taken over by another landscaper after breach of contract was issued to KHS, which was sent to my by that same landscaper at project kickoff. I also uploaded the itineraries, sent to me by KHS, which were both no-shows without warning. The itineraries were set in the first place because all previous call or text communicate that set up firm dates on KHS's honor suffered the same no-show without warning. Please, reader, please. Just avoid KHS. ------------------ Original post Originally contracted for a French drain install and repair of water damaged wall. Company repeatedly missed dates for various reasons without warning. After attempting to set timing commitments twice in the same month (failure to show without notice on the first attempt), Breach of Contract was issued and request for deposit return, minus costs for work performed (based on costing provided by KHS). KHS insisted they could complete the work, but the lack of communication and constant missing of appointments gave us no confidence. Last words to me from the owner were "let me get back with you" and he never heard from again, despite repeated email attempts to contact. Deposit paid was $2200. Photo attached to this review is all that was accomplished. For reference, that trench is approximately 1.5' wide and 6" deep (not even deep enough for properly bedded drain channel). The owner, Lamar, was a pleasure to speak with in person and their price was quite competitive. However, their lack of responsiveness and failure to show at a conflict resolution session shows at best a lack of competency and professionalism, and at worst unscrupulous behavior where deposit is held after a breach of contract when a project goes south. ---------------- In responses to other reviews, the company claims ownership, accountability, and professionalism, but in my experience they didn't live up to any of these qualities. Court case (initially a mediation, so not even before a proper judge) was scheduled for 1/11/2022 and was a no-show from KHS. To get to that point was a struggle, as a skip-trace needed to be performed just to locate a servable address for court documents. The company wasn't available at the address the have posted on their site (16291 West 14 Mile Road, Suite 4 Beverly Hills, MI 48025), and the owner wasn't residing at any known address on record. I've seen a couple other posts here regarding the company not residing at the location, wherein they claimed at one point to have updated to a current residency. read more

Scam! Be ware! wished I read the reviews before hiring him. Lamar made promises, took your money and disappeared. Apparently, it's a pattern that he ghosted after he got your money. Do not hire this company. read more

I have contemplated doing this for the past two days. After receiving the silent treatment from not only the owner Lamar Mixon of KILMAR HOME SOLUTIONS but his team leader for two days and an unsatisfactory email response to my request to amend the terms of our agreement, I want to let the community know to tread cautiously with this company. I could go on and call him a scam artist as some have done on Yelp. However, I am trying my best to support black businesses in our area and be patient with those who practice in such a way I feel is unethical. Our community is very diverse on so many levels, including ethics. As much as I want to be angry with the owner and team leader for leaving the perception of deceit, I am extremely disappointed because I was patient, understanding, fair, and transparent through the many obstacles Lamar brought to me each time he apologized for the inconvenience. Moreover, experiences like this makes it just that more difficult for the black community to gain trust in our ability to conduct business. I wish I can share pictures of how this company left my home and the additional money I will be out correcting a job he promised would be completed in 2 weeks. The pictures are not uploading into this review. I am advising people to tread cautiously when dealing with KILMAR HOME SOLUTIONS. read more

Whatever you do, do NOT hire this joke of a "company". I have never experienced such disrespect, unprofessionalism, and blatant incompetence in a company. I'm convinced that every positive review online was written by the owner himself using fake accounts. I hired this company on 9/17/21 to do a simple tree trimming job. I spoke with Lamar directly, we agreed upon a fair price, I paid the deposit via Cashapp, and he said his guys would be on site same day. Once Lamar received my deposit, all of the issues began. The entire business day went by and I did not hear a word from Lamar or his "guys". I checked for an update and Lamar said his team would be on site first thing tomorrow. Sure enough, the exact same thing happened the next day. No call, no show. I called for an update, but Lamar ignored the call and texted me that the team got held up again. Same thing happened the next day and the day after that until I finally texted Lamar that I was becoming uneasy and asked to cancel the project / reimburse my deposit. Lamar completely ignored my refund request and just kept texting me "we'll take care of it". He was extremely dismissive, did not pick up any of my calls, and even his voicemail was full. He kept telling me his "guy" was supposed to call me. He kept promising me that he would call me, that his "guy" would call me, and that I'd get my refund. None of these promises were fulfilled. At this point, it was September 29th (almost 2 full weeks after he said he'd have the job done). All of the sudden, he told me that his Cashapp would not allow him to refund my deposit (which I originally paid via Cashapp). This is where I lost a lot of patience and told him this was looking like a huge scam. I expressed my frustration with the process and with his company. Instead of empathizing with me like a competent business owner, Lamar decided it was a better idea to berate me and belittle me for being worried about my deposit. He took an extremely aggressive, sarcastic, and condescending tone with me, advising that it was a "joke" that I'd be worried about the status of my deposit. I was absolutely baffled by the lack of professionalism. We went back and forth for a while, and at one point he actually threatened me and said "I'll deal with you." He added that I was a "headache" to deal with and he took the opportunity to remind me that he didn't need me as a client anyway because he charged me too little (again, we negotiated a fair price based off of another quote I received). He told me to have fun paying double or triple with someone else. Good news is that I hired a much more reputable company and got the job done for $200 LESS what Lamar quoted me. Not only that, but this new company arrived the very next day after I called and scheduled the appointment. More good news is that after an agonizing amount of calls, texts, and threats to take him to small claims court, I finally got my deposit back in the form of a Cashier's check. Apparently other victims of Lamar's were not as lucky, based on the other negative reviews. Long story short, please I beg you NOT to hire this disgraceful company. I will be warning my friends and family about Kilmar Home Solutions, but I sincerely hope this review reaches as many people as possible. Since I'm sure Lamar will be replying to this review and attempt to discredit me as a "competitor", I'm attaching a series of text screenshots between me and Lamar directly. You can clearly see I was a trusting, hopeful, respectful consumer who just needed a simple job done. I admittedly lost my patience, but only once Lamar continuously lied to me, ignored me, made false promises to me, and essentially tried to scam me. Thank you! read more

This guy totally scammed us. Lamar Dixon of Kilmar Home Solutions was hired to install a hot water tank in our rental property. After he was done, we paid him $860. A couple weeks later the tank was not working and Lamar was not returning our calls. So, we hired someone else to fix it. When our other plumber arrived, he told us that the tank was 19 years old!!! It was NOT new but it was SPRAY PAINTED. As a result, Lamar has not returned our money or our calls. Do not hire this guy or this company. We are currently pursuing him via the legal system with both civil and criminal complaints. read more

Kilmar Home Solutions appears to be a fraudulent business that has scammed several people in Metro Detroit (see the company's Google reviews, BBB page, and other Yelp reviews). I hired this company to do an electrical job that was supposed to be done within a couple weeks, signed a contract, and paid a deposit. Months later, they never pulled the permit, let alone did any work, and of course, now Lamar Mixon (the owner who I paid) is nowhere to be found. He seems to respond to his negative Google reviews from other customers who've accused him of scamming, but regardless of his excuses as to why he dissappeared after he got paid, any real and reputable contractor wouldn't have so many different people from different cities in the area accusing them of such things in the first place. Pretty much all of the addresses that this company uses on their registration paperwork with the state of MI are fake, including registered offices in Beverly Hills, Troy, and Chesterfield--the people at these addresses claim to never have met anyone named Lamar Mixon, but are sick of people coming by asking for their money back. He presents himself as a professional who has a strong track-record in home reno and real estate investing, but it appears that his actual track-record is just in stealing from those of us who are actually real homeowners and investors. I would strongly advise anyone who is even thinking of doing business with this company or its owner, Lamar Mixon, to literally run! It's unfortunate that he's chosen to make his money by harming people who have actually worked hard for theirs, but what goes around, comes around...... read more
