Absolutely delicious!! Little red food truck in the parking lot of Harbor mall. (Not sure about the name) There's a couple of outside tables and benches next to truck which have shade so you can eat freshly prepared plate outside. I ordered "Hawai'i club" with salad. (You can choose fries or salad.) It's a decent size of rice roll with fries chicken, bacon, lettuce and avocado. Fried chicken was so juicy, tender and flavorful, salad was fresh. The dressing was yummy too. Highly recommend it! Definitely go back :)

The portions here are definitely large enough to share. The ahi tuna wrap was both fresh and refreshing. The ginger chicken sandwich was crispy and delicious. The pulled pork was so tender and had a nice mild kick. Be prepared to wait for your food for a while as everything is made fresh to order. Husband and wife team here do a wonderful job and everything is shareable (aka large portions) if you want to go that route.

Great local kine grinds! Quick, hot, and full of flavor. Right across the street from the Marriott, between the Harbor Mall and the Ocean Front shops. Easy access and plenty of free parking. The pork bun was hot and fresh, but actually tasted better without the overpowering, spicy sauce that came with it. Go clean and natural. The Ginger Fried Chicken was very onolicious! A definite come back for kind of dish. Fries were hot, fresh, & crispy. Good job.

This is an amazing bang for the buck on an island where that doesn't seem to exist. Delicious fresh ahi tuna in a tightly MEGA-sized maki type wrap makes this food truck a standout. (Look at the picture for size reference). Your choice of side salad or fries. I also got a side of a very good potato salad. Owners are a cute couple and very nice, remembering me on my second trip. There are picnic tables if you have a moment to relax or you can take it on the go. Highly recommended!

Ginger Chicken Sushi Wrap w/ Fries & Potato Salad

When you're in Kaua'i, you notice that the best food typically comes from food trucks, and Kikuchi's is no exception. Located near the amazing Kalapaki Beach Hut, Kikuchi's is a small food truck that serves fresh, local food. They have a small menu, so we ordered their Seared Ahi Tuna over salad, and the Ginger Fried Chicken Sushi Wrap. They give you a hefty amount of tuna for the salad, and overall they had a nice variety of greens, a perfectly good salad. The chicken in the sushi wrap had the same deep fried batter feel of soft shell crab, and had a strong ginger kick to it. The flavors were delicious, and you can choose either fries or a side salad. The reason I'm docking a star is because of how the owners treated the poor chickens. Everyone knows that Kauai is home to thousands of roaming chickens, and some gather around Kikuchi's hoping to pick up some food scraps. The owners are a couple, and the man came out of the truck, picked up small rocks, and started throwing them at the chickens. He even threw them near customer's car, and I'm fairly certain he hit ours. But oh no, it doesn't end there. He kept periodically coming outside to throw pebbles at the chickens, however one clueless baby chick stood near our bench, and he WENT TO KICK THE CHICK. Ate only reason he missed was because the chicken had ducked and ran away. Disappointed in how they treat their wildlife.

We love coming here to get the chicken sandwich. The bao bun just goes perfectly with the chicken! Must try!

One of my favorite meals on the island! A little bit of a wait for food but so worth it! This is the bbq pork bao with a side salad (instead of fries) and my choice of fruit (instead of potato salad) $9.90 including tax!

This place has THE BEST sushi on the island. The ginger-honey dressing was TO DIE FOR as well on the salad. We tried to buy it but they don't manufacture products! It's too bad..it was absolutely delicious!!! Maybe you'll see us in the future when we are back to visit

Love the ginger chicken steamed bun sandwich. Comes with salad or fries. I always order the fries as it comes with seasoned salt. So yummy! I think it's the same seasoned salt that Ono Char Burgers uses for their fries too. The ginger flavor is definitely present but not overpowering. The chicken is very tender and moist. Not sure if it's thigh or breast because it seems lean but still juicy. The steam bun is so yummy because it's bao and I love steamed manapua. The sandwich and fries comes with a potato salad that must have namasu (Japanese pickled vegetables) mixed inside because it has a unique flavor that I absolutely love! I especially love that I can preorder it by calling ahead as sometimes they can get pretty busy or I can verify if they sold out for the day. I know some food trucks that don't offer that option and it's very disappointing when you're on your lunch break and go somewhere only to find out they are closed.

Seared ahi roll and side of ginger chicken

This place was amazing such a surprise walked down from the Marriott for lunch and got the seared ahi mega roll!! And the ginger chicken. Both incredibly fresh and delicious! Even the fries were amazing nice seasoning and cooked to perfection we'll be back I'm going to try and eat the whole menu before we leave!

My friends and I were staying at the Marriott across the road and wanted a cheap and quick lunch before heading to the airport. Kikuchi's was the perfect stop! They serve their food in buns, sushi wraps, or salad. Buns and wraps come with a side of fries or salad. My friends got the Philly cheesesteak in the bun and the ahi wrap, while I got the island garden wrap with a side salad. What I loved about their menu is that they had three (!) veggie options! The workers warned us that there was a big order ahead of us and we would have to wait about 30 minutes before we put in our order, which we really appreciated. We walked around the little shopping mall and came back later when our food was ready. We all loved our food! We decided to eat it back at the Marriott, but they have ample picnic benches under canopies if you'd like to eat there. Fair warning though, if you don't like the wild chickens I would not recommend staying there to eat lol. There were a bunch and they hover under the tables waiting for food. The food itself was delicious! I loved my garden island wrap. Plenty of food for $10! My friend who got the steak bun liked the taste but did not like the thickness of the bun(too thick for her preference, but she doesn't eat steam buns often). The ahi wrap was good as well. I am glad they included soy sauce with wasabi. We even had someone in the hotel come up to us and ask where we got our food because it looked so good. All in all, a great lunch!

Food truck on rice street across from Nawiliwili Bay

Thanks to my Yelp friend Chai I bookmarked this place before heading to the islands and I am glad I got to try this place out. I would never have thought of stopping here because it's in one of those super touristy areas where ships come in and there are a bunch of scammers selling you on everything from helicopter rides to excursions where they promise you that you will not get wet.. No Thanks! Therefore, I usually drive by all this stuff but this time I made a stop in the parking lot right before the truck. It actually is a paid parking lot and you take a ticket. I went ahead and grabbed the ticket and hoped that maybe the food truck would validate it since it was right next door. This place specializes in sushi rolls and steamed buns. It's no frills where you order at the truck and then they have 3 or 4 tables where you can eat with the roosters roaming around you. Looking through the veggie items I saw basically 3 items which was actually pretty good considering. One was the garden veggie steamed bun, the island greens sushi wrap, and the local market salad. The buns and rolls come with either french fries or salad. I decided to get the rolls and a side salad since the rolls already had a starch in them of Okinawan sweet potatoes so the bun seemed overkill. the salad comes with two dressings one was a lemon honey ginger and the other was a coconut almond lime dressing. I got the coconut one. My friends got the bun with Ahi and the bun with pork. Guy who owns this truck was nice to validate my parking and add jalapenos to my roll and he gave me some wasabi soy on the side. Got my dish after about 10 minutes which was good considering the place got super busy when I was there. When I got the dish I was like wow how nice these rolls look. I mean super fresh ingredients and beautiful colors with the purple potatoes. It also came with rice, carrots, bell peppers, sprouts, cucumber, and local avocado which is always so good here. The side salad was really fresh and the dressing was tasty with the coconut and lime going on. These rolls were gigantic and for the price 5 stars for sure. Even my friends were like what did you get? That looks great. They on the other hand were a bit disappointed with their buns. They said they were too much dough and very thick compared to the insides. I'm glad I didn't get the bun option and I would say go for the sushi rolls to get the 5 star experience. Very happy to be able to find vegan sushi options in Lihue and will definitely come back to visit minus all the touristy things going on across the street. Oh and what's funny is when I left the parking lot there is no attendant even there when you drive out. Just a box to put your parking sticker LOL. Got to love the Aloha spirit! 4 1/2 stars +++

Just picked up my car from the dock at Young Brothers and spotted this bright Rooster Red Truck next to the Harbor Mall and in the Harbor Motors Inc. Parking lot. There was quite a line of local and tourist-type of crowd and they also have a FB & Twitter Page advertising their grinds! It appears their sweet and authentic Steamed Buns are made from scratch and for my first visit, so I had to try the Smoked Pulled Pork first. I went with the fresh green salad instead of fries and was rewarded with a very healthy and nice bed of greens garnished with cherry tomatoes, shredded pickled radish and carrots with a light citrus dressing on the side. The Smoked Pulled Pork was tender and full of flavor. It comes with a side of sweet BBQ Sauce that enhances the sandwich. The rsoft not so sweet steamed bun, looks more like a fluffy gyro. Honestly, I did not care for the steamed bun, I prefer more of a baked or toasted kind of sandwich. However this sandwich is a WINNER! I can see why this is one of their specialties! The dish also comes with a creamy potato salad served on the side! Very light and satisfying! I'll definitely be back to try some of their other entrees!

After reading all of the reviews, I really wanted to LOVVE this place but after having the ahi wrap, I just "liked" it. The pros: *great service *great presentation *fresh *huge portions The cons: *the ratio of ahi to everything else was a little off. The portions look huge but its mostly "filler". *I was hoping for a spicier sauce but the only option I got was a sweet dressing and soy sauce. I grabbed some wasabi from our hotel and that made it better. Don't get me wrong; this food truck is quite tasty and Id still go back to try other things on the menu. Giving 4 stars because it was still pretty good. read more

The fried chicken sushi was awesome. Then charge for CC which I understand as square CC system is hard to work with and if you have an issue its hard to talk to a person. Food great and the fact that they use recycle to go boxes is worth the little extra charge. Make it easy pay with cash. Take food across the street and sit on the beach. read more

Came here for lunch with my kids, it was across the road and convenient. Honestly, it's amazing and I would have driven across the island the get here. On a rainy afternoon they already had orders stacked up and we needed to wait a while before we could even order. My sons had tuna / rice rolls and pulled pork, I had ginger fried chicken - it was all amazing (and I hate ginger!!) These guys work hard and it shows - well done, and highly recommended read more

We visited Kauai, from foodie-jaded San Francisco. Kikuchi is the best food truck ever. The food is extremely delicious and fresh. The mixture of Asian and Hawaiian ingredients they use is amazing match. Be prepared to wait for a bit for food being cooked, it's not a fast-food. Personnel is very polite and helpful too. We came twice, 2nd time - in purpose, from Princeville. Yes, 1 hour drive just to have a lunch at food truck. I'm not kidding. Viva Kikuchi! read more

We stopped by Friday 9/15. The area was jammed because of a cruise ship. We weren't planning on going here but it was the closest thing to my parking spot. Lazy and hungry set us up for what can only be one of the best meals I have had off of a food truck in quite a while. I had a ginger chicken steam puff bread sandwich with fries and my wife had the pulled pork salad. Both meals were delicious. The generous portion of french fries came with seasoned salt. First time here, waited about 25 minutes, well worth it! Had an order of Ginger Chicken, delicious you can taste the delicate flavor of Ginger, not to over powering, crispy coat on the chicken was light, not heavy and the chicken was not greasy. Also ordered the sheared Ahi Tuna sushi roll, can't remember the exact name, however it was very tasty, fresh, light and the r olls were huge, it's more like a "Sushi" sandwich. Really GOOD. On this side of the Island, your food opinions are so, so, this good truck is very inviting and something different. I will come back. Try it, you'll like it read more

First off, my wife and unfortunately got into an accident right outside the food truck. The owners were nice enough to give us iced tea and water while we waited for a tow truck and police to show up. The next day we went there to actually try the ahi tuna wraps and pulled pork. They remembered us and felt so bad for us they comped our meal! So nice! Aside from being very nice people, the food was delicious, I would say the ahi tuna wraps are some of the best I've ever had. The only recommendation I would have is to be careful of the incoming traffic down the hill.... it's a blind corner and the flags/signs don't help. read more

I give these hard working folks extra points for taking our number and calling us when our order was ready. This is a popular place and they informed us that it would take 45 minutes for our food, which we were OK with. We were hanging out on nearby Kalapaki beach anyway. A quick walk over to their food cart took a few minutes. We all went for the pulled pork sandwich with sides of fries and salad. The pork is wrapped in a white steamed bun (possibly made of rice). Pork is delicious as is the bun and the supplied BBQ sauce. The fries were really fresh and coated with a paprika like spice. Salad was good as well and supplied with a homemade dressing which I thought was very good. Fries came with a big slice of pineapple and a slice of papaya as well. You are provided with a good portion of food so be prepared to be full. read more

My ahi roll was great- fresh seared ahi with sprouts, lettuce, wasabi mayo, and a side salad with a small cup of yummy potato salad. This was one of our favorite places in Kauai and thank goodness we found it before we returned back to NYC. The pork doesn't look the most appetizing but it is wonderfully flavored and had been marinated for 12 hours. The ginger in the fried chicken (karagi, Japanese style, extra crispy and not super greasy) is subtle. My husband who doesn't love ginger, raved about the nori wrap with seaweed, rice, avocado, fried ginger chicken, and vegetables. Perfect proportional balance of meat and rice. Potato salad is a combination of mashed and chunky, with bits of cabbage and carrot for crunchy surprises. read more

My husband and I were on Kauai for vacation and we too have an affinity for food trucks. :) This one rocked it! We were starving and ordered the Philly pepper steak steam bun with fries and the ahi tuna sushi wrap with salad and potato salad. Both were beautifully presented and completely delicious. The Philly was piping hot and the bread was melt in your mouth softness. The tuna was fresh and exactly what I wanted -- though a bit messy. Only negatives - the seasoning on the fries wasn't my favorite (a little sweet) and I'd switch out my fountain soda for a big bottle of water. Otherwise, it's fabulous! And just so you know, we eat at a lot of food trucks. You could say we have an affinity ;) read more

Hands down, the quesabirria tacos and flautas are as good as they come--absolutely amazing. We happened upon this place on Yelp, and I was a little skeptical, but after the first bite, I felt transported back to Mexico. My entire family agreed that these are the best quesabirria tacos we have had outside of Mexico, and possibly even in Mexico. The flavors were amazing, and the consommé was absolutely delicious. We are regulars on the Big Island and normally do not eat Mexican food because we have never found a good spot, with the exception of Shaka Tacos. This place was really busy, and there was only one person working. She was doing it all--taking orders, collecting money, and making all the delicious food. She was never rude and was so pleasant. She said the cooks had called in and she was the only one there. Talk about dedication! She made sure everyone got their food, and it was made perfectly. I cannot commend her enough for all the work she did and for putting out an outstanding order of food. She is a real gem and should be treated as such! It is so hard to find good employees today, and her dedication and attitude inspired me. I wish we had gotten her name, but she said she is always there. If the food takes longer than you like, just be patient, because you are in for a treat when it comes out. Good food takes time, and the food is definitely worth the wait. We will definitely be coming back every time we are here. This place is a real gem. If I could give it more stars, I would. The fish & chips came with a bed of fries and 4 huge fish sticks with furikake and sauce drizzled on top. The fish was nicely cooked and fried, but kind of bland. The mayo sauce was really good! I wished there were more of it for my fish. Fries were delicious! The poke nacho was just as amazing as the ones I sampled off of. The nachos were really crispy and the poke was fresh. Wished there was a bit more poke tho. The ocean salad complimented the dish really well too. I highly recommend the poke nachos from here! They offer spicy, avocado, or both. We came here after a mauna loa helicopter ride. We ordered a seared ahi wrap and the garden vegetable bun. It took a little under 10 minutes for the food to be prepared. We walked away before checking, but they mixed up the veggie bun with the chicken bun. The seared ahi wrap was great - good portions, fresh and high quality. Would definitely recommend. The chicken bun was just myeh. I wish we'd checked, b/c the veggie bun sounded intriguing, but the chicken bun was just alright. Both came with pretty good side salads and dressings. I didn't need the potato salad, but it was nice they provided that. I wish I could've tried the veggie bun, but I didn't get the chance. I wouldn't say this place is 5 stars, but it's a solid spot, and I'd recommend it to anyone post- Mauna Loa helicopter tour. read more
