FIRSTLY.
I drove three hours and hurried to my appointment, to finally get there and wait half an hour for the hairdresser to arrive. Salon was atrocious. Absolute filth. Other people's hair all through the seat I was sitting on, dirty benches and other people's hair and hair products all through the combs.
SECONDLY
I showed them a photo of what I wanted, which consisted of a nice brown and blonde balayage, with dark brown at the top with lights through the natural brown to blend into a nice ash blonde at the ends.
They insisted they didn't need to color my hair, even though it was a part of the package, I thought, well if they're charging $650 they must be good and know their stuff right? Wrong.
You know you're in trouble when you request your own hair cut and the hairdresser insists "no, ratty hair blends better with extensions".. So maybe it does but I've never met a GOOD hairdresser that would refuse to cut your split ends. Cut them, but use your skills to blend it maybe? Too hard. They'd rather sit on the computer and online shop while drinking energy drinks and chatting amongst themselves.
THIRD
They washed and blow dryed my hair, and eventually put the extensions in. Half way through with a mullet hanging off the back of my head I'm informed I'm going to need to pay extra for more extensions to make them look "perfect", how much extra will it cost? An extra $60. Yeah because I havent received half the package I've paid for and you're going to rob me more money otherwise I walk out of there with a mullet on the day of my going away party. Nice!
I was told I would need to straighten my natural hair and curl the fake hair to make it blend. If you're paying $650 you want to be able to wear it straight or however and have it blend!
FOURTH
I was not shown the back of my head before I left. Normal hairdressers pull their mirror out, show you the back and ask If you're happy. Not this one. More concerned about getting an after photo, which didn't make it to the instagram page like most of the other disastrous "makeovers" I assume. I was only shown the front which looked okay when I left. It wasn't what I walked in there hoping for but it was just okay.
FIFTH
I arrive to my going away party, about 30 of my 70 guests point out my hairs not really blended, with a few even thinking I brought synthetic blonde extensions off ebay and throwing them in my near black hair.
someone even took a photo to show me how bad it was, which I will upload.
SIXTH
I message the Facebook page to explain my situation where I'm left with no reply. I explained my situation and asked for a solution and it wasn't delivered. I called the Brisbane salon (as I'm moving interstate in 2 days) to explain my situation, emailed photos through as requested and no response. I had to call them back days later to chase it up.
Finally, after a week of wearing these embarrassing hair extensions I'm getting them fixed, yay!
Arrive at the Brisbane salon, wait another half an hour to be seen. Hair dresser had a better attitude this time and was a lot more helpful in fixing my hair by adding extra darker brown extensions. Although it made it look better, it still wasn't what I had in mind when I walked into the south Yarra salon a week beforehand. Fast forward a week and the extensions are starting to go ratty. Very ratty. They look cheap and nasty. I have had microbead extensions for $100 of eBay and they were alot nicer and lasted longer than these. Which brings me to point
SEVEN
Hair looked nice curled after I got it fixed, but straight it again just looked like I had chunky blonde streaks through my hair, so down to chemist to get 2 packets of dark brown hair dye I go. After an hour and a half my hair finally looks nice! It's finally blended. But, I can now see synthetic stands that didn't pick up the dye. Lovely.
All up I paid,
$710 for the "makeover package" of which I only received half of, including shitty synthetic hair
$40 fuel Money to go to Brisbane to get the hair fixed
$30 on hairdye to fix it myself
=$780 dollars for what ended up being dark brown extensions, which, according to their generic text message today, is on sale for $399! Awesome. Will never recommend kiki to anyone. I want my money back. read more
