The interior is one of a traditional German village eating establishment, but being located close to an American base, it make concessions such a menu with pictures and English to make it easier to order. The "Stammtisch" (German for "regulars' table) is not a table, but a section of bar. Great traditional fare with accompanying beer or wine. I dined on the traditional schnitzel and it did not disappoint as it was accompanied by a great local beer. Keep room for dessert and some schnapps to help with the digestion. NOTE: it is a smallish establishment so you need to make reservations to dine, it is well worth the effort to make a reservation and dine. Guten appetite!

So take a butcher who know hows how to cook and how to respect the cut of meat, add a healthy dose of love of food and Bavarian/German cuisine, and you have a quaint little restaurant near Ramstein AFB/Landstuhl. If you are within driving distance, don't miss this gem! I had the "Garlic Marinaded Pork Ribeye" and selected the pan fried potatoes. OMG OMG OMG ... meat cut thin so two cuts served... the garlic was there front and center but NOT overpowering in any way. A bit of herbed butter, roasted garlic cloves that melt in your mouth, and these fantastically flavored potatoes that are just divine. All served with a generous side of a parsley and ?? Sour cream to die for. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Bring cash, no plastic. I wonder if I can get a free ticket change if I tell Delta I'm "dying"... they just don't need to know I'm dying to go back...

The decor is a little eclectic but nice. The food is an excellent value. The salad was simple but fresh. My wife had a noodle and pork meatball soup of the day that she loved. Everything is cooked to order and nice and hot. I had a schnitzel stuffed with ham and cheese. It was very nicely breaded, just a little on the side of dry, with gooey cheese and some prosciutto-like ham. The croquettes were straight forward and good. The server was conversational and checked in once after the food came out, which is highly unusual for anyone used to German service. He also brought my wife a complimentary piece of pumpkin cake. A solid place for a regular meal. Looks like it could easily accommodate a good sized group. Make the trip!

The portions are enormous, the menu is full of comfort‑food classics, and the atmosphere has that lively, slightly chaotic charm that makes it feel like a local staple. I went with a group, and everyone found something they loved. The schnitzel was crispy and well‑seasoned, and the burgers were surprisingly great for a place known for German‑style plates. Service was friendly and efficient even though the place was packed, which I really appreciated. If I had to nitpick, the wait times can get long during peak hours, and the sheer size of the portions can be a bit overwhelming if you're not prepared. But honestly, that's part of the Big Emma's experience; go hungry, go with friends, and expect leftovers. Overall, a fun, hearty spot that delivers exactly what it promises. I'd happily come back.

My son ordered a cheeseburger but we didn't realize it was the size of a layer cake. It felt like kind of like a joke; like a spectacle and you're supposed to be amazed. But it was actually disappointing and my son didn't enjoy it. The rest of us thought our meals lacked seasoning and it was overpriced. There are plenty of really good and reasonably priced German restaurants in the area but this isn't one of them.

The reason was fantastic, which is that he grills the steaks slow and low, some for five hours. He had some steaks in the works, so we could come in. Our group was five, including a child. We had three steaks. 1. Australian rump. 2. Australian rib eye. 3. Irish rib eye. Harry came over to the table about four times during our two hours there. He first introduced himself, then explained how he ended up in this business and where the steaks come from. He came over to check on how the meal was going. Just the absolute best steak dinner we / I have ever had. It cost a pretty penny, but I'm thrilled we did it. All three steaks prepared medium rare I would say. We had some starters, and only one side, which was sweet potato fries.

From the moment you walk in, the warm lighting and relaxed atmosphere set the tone for a great night out, and the staff keeps that energy going with attentive, genuinely friendly service. The star of the show is absolutely the steak. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully grilled, and served exactly at the temperature requested; it's the kind of quality you usually only find at high‑end steakhouses. The sides are just as impressive: fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The chimichurri deserves its own shout‑out; it's bright, bold, and elevates everything it touches. Drinks are well‑crafted, portions are generous without being over the top, and the pacing of the meal feels thoughtful rather than rushed. It's the kind of place that works equally well for a date night, a celebration, or just treating yourself to a seriously good dinner. If you're anywhere near Kaiserslautern and craving a great steakhouse experience, Chacarero is absolutely worth the visit. I'd come back in a heartbeat.
