Before you take the easy step of enrolling your child in this school I would advise that you ask…read moresome parents on the parking lot or at least do a research. This is the worst school I could had ever chosen for my child. He started going here on first grade, he is on 3rd grade now. The amount of problems this school has are endless. The principal will never see you no matter how many times you call front desk requesting a meeting! I HAVE ASKED TO SPEAK TO YOU FOR OVER 4 MONTHS NOW AND YOU WON'T MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!!! What type of principal doesn't show concern for a parent asking to speak to them for that long? The art teacher Ms. Artmendi is the worse. Her idea of making a parent aware of a child not doing well is sending little notifications on ClassDojo without making any time to have an actual meeting to assist the kids into doing better. I could drop names for days of all the bad teachers on this school for days. People that pick this carrier for the 9:00 - 5:00 job instead of actually respecting what being an educator represents in a child's life. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD HERE. You will be wasting the kids life. There absolutely nothing that the teach more than the bear minimum. The only teachers I have seen here that actually go above and beyond for their kids are Mrs. Finnin and Mrs. Barbosa. Maria the lady in front of the ADHD program is ver sweet. The only people that actually tried helping my child in all the time he has being attending this school. Not all kids are on with following a program that makes them slow mentally! We are on different times! Use technology for more than just showing movies! Stop limiting kids to learn in such basic ways that don't actually help them in their future! Hire teachers that actually know how to connect with little kids! You cannot treat small kids like adults! I am at the front desk of this school since 8:00 am waiting to speak to the principal and it is 10:07 am and she is still busy!

The teachers are truly kind and genuinely care about the students' growth. They're always willing to help and go the extra mile to make sure the kids understand the material and feel supported in their learning. Another thing I really appreciate is the variety of sports and extracurricular activities available. It gives the children a chance to explore different interests and stay active while building friendships outside the classroom. I would definitely recommend Our Lady of Lourdes to other families looking for a school that offers strong academics, caring teachers, and a well-rounded environment.

Ever since Amanda Delgado became principal, the environment has totally changed. People walk on eggshells. Parents are scared to speak up because they've seen what happens when they do. What used to be a caring, family like community has turned cold and tense. So many amazing teachers are gone, and what's left doesn't inspire much confidence. Communication with parents is basically nonexistent we're left in the dark about everything unless it's a last-minute demand or payment. It's really sad what the school has become under this administration. We stayed as long as we could, but it's not worth the stress or fear anymore. We're done.

The new administration operates through fear, and many of the experienced teachers have departed, replaced by those who lack certification and teaching experience. While there is much discussion of religious values, the administration seems to lack fundamental Christian compassion. Again there is plenty of talk about education but if the principal's ability to send communication email to parents free of typos, grammar and spelling errors is any indication of the education offered in the school, then run.

The historic marker was erected by the Class of 1964 in cooperation with the Historical Association of Southern Florida. Dr. Laura Cushman moved from Iowa to Miami in the early 1900s. After becoming an accomplished teacher in the county school system, she decided to open The Cushman School on the front porch of her home in 1924 with just 12 students. In 1926 the school moved into the Mediterranean Revival building designed by Russell Skipton that is still used today. The classrooms were arranged to ger the breeze from Biscayne Bay. Windows were added to the school that came from the Royal Palm Hotel in downtown Miami. The school bell on the roof of the main building is the same plantation bell that was used to call the construction workers to Villa Vizcaya. Today the campus is a mixture of the historic buildings and new ones and the high school building is a few blocks south on Biscayne Boulevard. Dr. Cushman served as principal of the school for 52 years. She wanted the children who attended the school to not only be good scholars but also good citizens with the character traits of industry, responsibility, reliability, courtesy, honesty and integrity. In 1992 the United States Department of Education named The Cushman School as a National School of Excellence. Today, the school consists of a mix of historic and new buildings spread across a beautifully landscaped campus in a historic pocket of Miami. The high school building is a few blocks south on Biscayne Boulevard. As a fellow educator I loved learning about Dr. Cushman's educational philosophy which positively influences the development of the child but with all of the data input and test taking that goes on in schools today, is not emphasized enough in the public school system. How refreshing to see that there is a school developing tools and educational programs that help children reach their highest potential while still promoting social responsibility. All of that comes at a steep price however as tuition ranges from $33,000 to $43,000 a year at The Cushman School.

When…read morewe we're looking for a preschool for our toddler we initially wanted a Montessori as it was highly recommended by few friends.Anyway the school was already booked for the next year. We did a tour and liked a school, and we were pretty satisfied with a year our two year old completed here. We decided to continue, but this year is a different story. Actually a friend of mine whose kid was in different class, pulled her kid before this school year, pointing out that school has some issues. I don't know if that's because the director changed or the school run out of money, but activities became so limited. Most of the days kids just doing coloring and painting, not much of diverse materials are used even though you pay for it.Last year was much better regarding this.Curriculum missing some creativity. This year there have been zero field trips even though they were promised. Instead of taking kids to a museum tour as a field trip, they invite you(it's optional activity)to bring your kids on the weekend for a museum tour and charge you like 60$ per ticket.Ridiculous. Christmas party that was planned for a while was basically a bounce house. Other important thing, they are short on staff. The pictures of daily kids activities are posted on the app not very often. For that I don't blame the teacher(my kid teacher is great by the way, knowledgeable, passionate and caring and we really like her),but she is by herself most of the times so obviously can't do everything. On the good note, the school is very clean, super safe, everyone is friendly, the atmosphere is great, front desk ladies are amazing, very communicative and always there for any questions, ready to help you out with a smile. My kid's teacher is amazing as well, she pours all of her heart in care for the children. So to conclude they should invest more (financially and academically)to make a better experience for the children.

I'm…read morein 9th grade (going into 10th now), and The Biltmore School left me severely underprepared for regular school life. Yes, the small hands on approach is definitely good for children with disabilities/developmental issues, however if you take a child without these difficulties and then put them into a regular school (public schools) your kids gonna have a lot of problems. The schools probably changed since my time attending, sure, however while I was there, it was even unsafe for kids with issues. An example of this would be with my cousin who also attended at the same time as me, who was autistic and low support needs. He was a victim of bullying, which got the a point where a student broke his arm. As for me, I didn't have these sorts of issues (I have ADHD but that's never effected my learning so I don't count it) and after I left The Biltmore, I was introduced to many different learning tools such as iready, IXL, ect. However, The Biltmore never taught me how to use these programs, and the larger classes of public schools meant that my teachers rarely offered me help with using these programs, leaving me to teach myself which made me struggle at the beginning of my education in public schools. To any parents thinking of sending your children here; DO NOT. DONT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE!!!!! As a former student, I'm begging you not to send your kids here, it was genuinely one of the worst experiences of my life.

Enrolling him here in kindergarten was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. He is included and it's evident in his friends group chat on his phone.
