Neverland Balloons and Facepainting

This talented duo: Balloon Josh (balloon twisting) and Amanda (face painting) was at our church's…read moreCentral Park service this past Sunday. They worked tirelessly creating amazing balloon art and beautiful face paint designs. Out of balloons, Josh made Moses, anime characters, Disney princesses, and even replicas of individuals. He also made Beauty and the Beast enchanted rose, unicorns, swords, motorcycles, emojis... Pretty much anything you can think of, he can create! I asked for Cinderella and it turned out beautifully: Long blond hair, pretty face, shiny interlocking blue balloons for the gown. For the face paint, there were 2 pages of different artwork to choose from and included unicorn horn, animal print, butterflies, hearts & more. A couple people asked for flags / other items and Amanda was still able to deliver a fantastic finished product. For example, one person wanted the flag of Haiti painted on, which is not an easy flag to draw. Amanda looked at the photograph and drew it really well, then added some sparkles and glitter. When it was my turn, I chose one of the fancy eye designs: Roses and leaves, along with a bit of shimmer. Amanda did a lovely job. I loved the two toned colors that were used: Light pink + deeper reddish pink for the roses and forest green + pale green for the leaves. It looked absolutely gorgeous. After, everybody complimented me and admired Amanda's handiwork. All who received balloon art or face paint were completely satisfied and enjoyed the experience of receiving it. Joshua and Amanda are true professionals and so incredibly sweet, personable, giving and work hard at their craft. You definitely will not be disappointed by hiring them, as they bring magic to any party or event!

This was not your basic dog balloon artist, He created a fire truck, light sabers and blasters. The young lady who did the face painting was amazing. I love face painting--I was getting made up to look like a cat at festivals, parties, & parks until…read moreI was nearly 30. And I always notice face & body art on others. So I was pleased to see a new face painter at this year's Danish Club of Houston - Vikingeskolen Danish Carnival celebration, & downright excited that my 3 1/2 year old son wanted to get his face painted for the first time, especially when I saw the results on the other kids' faces. My son asked Erika to paint a train on his face. This was obviously a new request for her. But Erika was easygoing about it--she simply hesitated, considering my little son's request while studying the canvas of his face. She let my son choose what color he wanted his train to be (blue) & immediately set to work. And though my son is very shy, he was perfectly comfortable letting Erika hover over him while she worked on him, her long hair hanging in a curtain around his upturned face. Both my son & I were floored by the results of Erika's impromptu train. It was *adorable* (See the attached pics). Better still was the more conventional face art--the absolute best I've ever seen. Many of the girls received abstract designs depicting flowers or butterflies. There were colorful & whimsical Mardi Gras-esque masks adorned with curlicues, tigers, cats, & best of all, face art meant to complete whatever costume the child was wearing--one little pirate sported an adorably cartoonish eye patch & a red spotted do-rag--Ar! And though her designs were very detailed, Erika worked reasonably quickly, so none of the kids got too antsy while waiting in line. She's truly impressive. But I'm not the only one who thinks Erika is the absolute best--she also paints faces at Yelp-Houston's official events. So if you've received face or body art at a Yelp event, you've met Erika & have seen her work already. If you haven't, check out Rawr Party's other glowing Yelp reviews, & see their Yelp business pics & those on their "blog". Rawr Party! employs just 2 face painters besides Erika--Erika's sister & long-time best friend, but if you'd like to hire Erika specifically, just ask. The company's advertised rate is $100 for the first hour, $50 for each additional hour, for a minimum of 1 hour; & you need not book the full hour, after the first. My impression is that Erika is willing to be flexible with respect to pricing. Regardless, because of Erika's easygoing; relaxed; & flexible nature, her exceptional people-skills, & her incomparable face & body art, you can't afford not to hire her for your special event.

I got in contact with her via a twitter followed by a few Yelp PMs (private messages/message exchanges). She worked within my budget, created awesome designs to fit my event's theme (NOLA/Mardi Gras) and pleased the crowd. I WILL hire her again. And rec her to anyone. P.S. Thank you for painting a unicorn pooping a rainbow on my arm. #Winning

First, Liz asked us what we would be wearing and, then, what types of designs we had in mind. She also gave specific and useful advice about how to prepare our skin for the painting. On the day of her appointment, Liz arrived on time and armed with a makeup case of deeply saturated pigments, glitter, and stick-on gems. She also had printed out enlarged photos of the designs we liked and discussed her thoughts about the color palette based on our intended costumes and coloring. And then she went to work. In one of her other creative lives, Liz is a figurative painter and it shows in her gentle, but effective brushstrokes in creating flowers, vines, and other decorative figures. Her finished work on me was a knockout, and based on classic Mexican majolica. My partner's design was equally stunning, as well as witty. Liz fixed both designs with a spray fixative, which was easy to wear but tough enough to keep the design in place and intact for eight hours. And during that time we received tons of compliments for Liz's incredible work. I can't recommend her highly enough!
