Old meeting house from the late 18th century with many original elements preserved. Very interesting and its spare decoration makes for some neat structural photography. Helpful volunteer was staffing during my visit. Free, but please give them a donation - they have much more work to do. Nice old churchyard to visit as well.

The bridge was moved here from its original location in 1970ish. It no longer goes over a river. It no longer allows vehicle traffic. It's cute to look at, but it's just kinda odd to walk over a bridge in the middle of a grassy lot.

So lovely the volunteers were to make the experience enchanting. The staff who contribute to the past but in the present. We toured the fort and the outside. Highly encourage it. I returned back in to get a beautiful clay dish. That I will cherish so much. So beautifully made with love and time. The family that I purchased it from. The collection includes 18th and 19th century decorative arts and furnishings. The very friendly and knowledgeable host/tour guide was full of facts & details about both families who loved here. How cooking was done on wood fires in the fireplace. Learn about how so many "modern household conveniences" from back in the day were designed and constructed to serve a practical purpose from the materials at hand. The paintings on the walls of the drawing room were gorgeous. Depicted scenes of live in that era as well as infamous locals. The ball room up stairs was most impressive! Maintained solely by volunteers from Weston.

BF is a charm of a town in so many ways. The restaurants are local owned, shops are fascinating…read morefrom fossils to records to art galleries of local work. A book store worth so much more, A real opera house with $6 1st run and classic films, concerts in rock, classical, folk, plays from two amazing theater groups etc BF are real people...oldcomers and newcomers all mixed with life long multi generational residents. All make it a point to keep the town's wonderful striving character having made a comeback from post-industrial hardship just 15 years before. I moved here last year and it's better than I could have dreamed. This is a town who is generally very active in community support, politically, in social justice and being friendly...but very honest. Lastly, my family feels safe and happy here. If you come to build walls and bring your nefarious baggage, then don't come. It's not for you. Cheers from BF

This village is an absolute gem! The community is very involved and we got to chatting with a few…read morelocals. Everyone was very friendly and happy to share local points of interest and community events. Their "Welcome to Bellows Falls" sign states the village was established in 1792. Old brick buildings are in great condition. What looks like an old factory on the river's edge has been converted to apartments. Town hall is now an Opera house with two theater companies utilizing the space, plus showing classic movies. A lovely book shop, two coffee shops, a diner, breakfast and lunch cafe, lounge, hardware store, antique shops, vintage clothes stores. All this and more on the main road through town. A small, easily missed road by the tattoo shop leads diwn to a Grist Mill museum, walking path and labyrinth. A small brown sign points the way. We pick up a small flyer in one of the shops that lists points of interest in the area and took a stroll through town. Wish we had more time to stay and explore this piece of American history. So happy we stumbled upon this thriving VT village. Get out and wander! There are gems to be found.

Where is one to find access to this kind of distracting technology in the hills of, specifically, Weston, VT? The nearest open Library - in Londonderry, of course. The library was open, and the staff wonderfully helpful! The had a good supply of books, an even better supply of amazing history, and best of all, a strong and free WiFi! I published my article, and since it was raining (POURING!) when I wanted to leave, stayed to chat with the man minding the building. He was great to talk with, and offered some warm and welcoming insights to the library and area. We talked about a lot, including the Weston Priory where I was headed. If you need a quiet spot to get a good book, or just to get some things done, check out this gem.

Great library - has a nice quiet reading room, a fairly huge children's room, and a decent…read moreselection of periodicals, non-fiction, and fiction. Computers are a bit old, but they work fine. Internet service is fast and free. Staff are lovely. This library participates in several inter-library loan partnerships in Vermont and possibly elsewhere - so if they don't have it, it's likely that they can get it pretty quickly. We went to the Geek the Library event back in May - it was great! So many folks came, and lots of interesting geeks shared their particular interests - watershed conservation, Steampunkers, mead-makers, the Stringfield Springer bluegrass group, and the pedal-powered smoothie bike were some of my favorites! Hope it becomes a yearly event. The annual booksale (usually in July) is also fabulous!
