What a fun time. Prices were reasonable and the kids had a great time. Restaurant food and smoothies were delicious.

Deon and Robbie were great hosts. The river was extremely low but it was still a good time.

Ask the Community - Kickapoo Adventures

What is he river bottom like? Sand, rock, mud? Also how is the water clarity? Thanks

It’s mostly a gravel bottom. Water clarity is good depending upon water levels (it is a shallow river that gets turbid after rainfall)

They do not answer their phones and their policy says you must talk to the office for a cancellation. I called several days with no ability to speak with anyone. We did however book our tubing trip for the correct day. When we arrived we tried kindly explaining to the woman our situation. She was immediately combative and argumentative. She immediately went in defense mode. It was incredibly unprofessional and abrasive. We understand we made a mistake however we didn't deserve to be treated that way. Naturally we firmly and persistently argued back as we were approached in such a manner. Ultimately she did end up refunding us (allegedly - we did not receive it yet. But did get confirmation email we were refunded) but it was after a long awkward argument for really no reason. If the woman at the front office was polite from the get go we would have had a much better experience. The gentlemen who ran the tubing, said his name was Kim. He was very kind and professional. I would give this place another go because of his efforts in trying to make the situation more comfortable.

Clements has been around a long time, and now I bring my kids to enjoy the cool water & summer sun. I've only ever done the 5 mile tubing trips, but they also offer longer kayaking and canoe trips plus camping. After booking online (they do have same day walk up available but are sometimes completely booked), you just show up a half hour before launch time, get life jackets, and board a bus that takes you upstream to the launch site. From there, you have all day (the 5 mile tubing trip typically takes around 4 hours) to float, swim, wade, splash & relax your way back to the rental office site. Tube rental is $25pp. Helpful hints: pack food & drinks...that's part of the fun; the cooler tube is worth it...it's got a flat bottom large enough to hold a couple small coolers (we fit a small cooler, a backpack cooler & a bag of snacks); pack sunscreen and bug spray so you're prepared for a full day of sunshine and nature; consider taking bungee cords or rope to help keep your tubes tethered so your group can stay together; also, don't wear slides or flip flops...you'll likely need to walk through the water a bit at the low points of the creek

But we were not allowed to drop from 2 canoes to one several weeks in advance. We were on our way for an 11am trip and arrived at 11:01 (calling several times on the way) and told, "sorry, you need to wait until 12 now". And that trip didn't leave until 12:10! The front desk is run by 15 year olds who couldn't care less. Overall I'd look elsewhere for a better experience.

We live an hour and a half away & would not have come to Raccoon Lake if it wasn't for their boat rental! Unlike most boat rentals who only do pontoon rentals, Raccoon Lake also has ski boats & jet skis too. This is a fun thing to do with friends or even just as a couple. Staff is extremely easy-going but keep in mind that they still have rules you need to follow. Just don't be dumb & you'll be fine. We saw people trying to take their dog on the boat (which there are signs everywhere that say not to) and also saw people jumping off their boat while it was in motion. Don't be like those people. Be a smart human. You'll get a fine if you are stupid like this, so if you are hella rich then by all means, be stupid. The Lake is extremely large, so you won't get bored easily. We did 2 hours & thought that was the perfect amount of time! Keep in mind that in addition to your boat rental, you'll also need to pay for gas top-off (for reference, we used a quarter tank & paid $34 for a top off. They set their own gas prices). And you'll also need to pay to get into the State Rec Area ($7). Have fun, it's a blast & will definitely do the three hour round trip to go again!

Just figured that I would just find myself a shuttle service, although I have been kayaking already for about a month or so, I didn't know that they have a season for it and I was about a week to early. No problem I just wasn't able to go kayaking today but I will be back definitely, I'll just have to do better next time. I'm used to self shuttling. Got some cool souvenirs from the gift shop.

Hallelujah! TR Campground was completely full the weekend we visited. At times I felt that maybe we were a little too close to our neighbors, especially the neighbors with 8+ guests. Our site did have some unsavory things leftover from the previous guests(s) (dirty bandaids, dog poop, shoes, a canoe paddle), so the campground really does leave it up to the guests to cleanup after themselves. We were near located near the bathhouse, which was only good for toilets. The Men's and Women's showers were out of order, so I'm not sure what the tent campers did all weekend--I find this to be the most unsavory part of camping. The campground is within walking distance of Turkey Run State Park's Trail 7, which we appreciated. This was an incredibly hoppin' place, so I'd have to recommend it. I'd even recommend visiting during the week so you don't have to deal with as much traffic. The power along State Rd. 42 did go out for a period of time on Saturday afternoon, so that impacted electricity at the campground. Luckily this didn't happen on a super hot day. They have a suggestion box located near the exit of the campground which I should have used. This seems like common sense because they're so pet-friendly, but 20 or so signs saying, "please clean up after your pet" would be nice. Yes, this is outdoor living, but other people don't need to be stepping in your dog's $#!&. I recommend Turkey Run Campground, but you won't catch me camping again anytime soon. :)
