Roegiers Law

Roegiers Law

I feel that she did not want to invest anymore time since she already had her money. She implied that she had negotiated my family member to be released and the prosecutor was in agreement with the deal and to get the court date as soon as possible. At court he was excited to get out and to start working on life again. That day he was sentenced to prison. The COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what was supposed to happen according to Ms. Roegiers. "Oops, my bad. I misunderstood the email" That is so unprofessional. This is someone's life not a little "oops". I feel if a lawyer can easily misunderstand any form of communication, she can misunderstand the law. She could have delayed the hearing to keep him in county as long as possible since he only has a few more months rather than expedite him to prison like that. I understand that nothing is guaranteed. I'm just infuriated with how unprofessional and inexperienced she ended up being. I would have been better off saving my money and telling him to go to a public defender. In my opinion, negative reviews are feedback for your service. Take this as a way to improve instead of lying and getting my review removed. I have paperwork with my name showing I placed her on retainer and the agreement for her services and this review is MY opinion of services.

Law Office of Todd A Kawecki

Law Office of Todd A Kawecki

I regret not listening to the lone review from June 1, 2023. That person was absolutely spot-on…read moreabout their experience with Todd Kawecki. I was arrested in July 2024 for a DUI. I did not take a breathalyzer at the time of arrest. Afterward, I contacted several attorneys about my case. I ultimately chose Todd Kawecki because his pitch sounded genuine. He warned against lawyers who promise to "get you off" or secure a great deal, calling those red flags. Instead, he claimed he would fight to the very end and get the best possible outcome based on the evidence. Like most attorneys I spoke with, he was attentive--returning calls and texts promptly--until I paid him in full. His assistant, Jessica, was also responsive at first. But that changed after I made my payment. I paid $3,500 in cash (with a discount for doing so), thinking I was doing good business. I expected the same level of professionalism in return. Unfortunately, that did not happen. After payment, communication dropped off sharply. Neither Todd nor Jessica responded to many of my texts or calls. I have months' worth of unanswered messages. It became clear they were no longer prioritizing my case. After attending court twice, Todd finally called me into his office to discuss a plea deal. I was shocked to hear him offer me the mandatory minimum DUI conviction deal--the kind of deal public defenders offer just to clear their dockets. I couldn't believe my paid attorney was suggesting something I could've gotten for free. I told him I wasn't interested and even proposed a compromise: a reckless driving charge, probation, and up to 10-14 days in jail to avoid the DUI conviction. His response? "Have you seen the body cam footage? You're pretty much dead to rights." That was his idea of fighting for me. I didn't hear from Todd again until 3-4 days before my court date in January. I had sent multiple messages over the months. For example, on November 15, I texted Jessica asking for any updates--no reply. I texted Todd directly on January 27, asking to go over what to expect in court the next day. Again, no response. And this was the day before sentencing. Sentencing Day - January 28, 2025, Stuart Courthouse, Downtown Stuart: I was the fifth person called up for sentencing. The four people ahead of me received: 2 reduced charges to reckless driving 1 DUI diversion program 1 violation (a traffic ticket) I stepped outside with Todd and asked, "What was that?" referring to the much better outcomes others were getting. He said, "Every case is unique and different," and gave a vague explanation about evidence levels. At that point, I was completely over it. I accepted the mandatory minimum deal--not because I thought it was fair, but because I had lost all confidence in my attorney and couldn't afford to hire someone else. There was no chance I was going to trial with Todd representing me. It doesn't end there. Three months into my sentence, I became eligible for a hardship license. Todd and Jessica both told me it was being taken care of and that I didn't need to do anything else. At that point, I had completed DUI school, paid my fines, and done the impact panel. On April 22, I texted: "Hi Jessica, did you find anything out?" Then again on April 29: "90 days is today. Now what?" On April 30, she responded: "Your application was submitted on 3/3. I got confirmation on 4/2. The DMV will call or email you." By May 9, I had enough. No one from the law office was answering. I drove straight to the DMV myself. What I found out was infuriating. Everything Todd and Jessica had told me? Complete BS. I could've had my license weeks earlier if I had just walked in on the 90th day myself. They either flat-out lied to me or were so incompetent they had no idea how the system actually works. Oh, and guess what? When I went to the DMV myself, I had to pay an additional $270 in fees. Did Todd's office offer to take care of that? If I hadn't taken matters into my own hands, I would still be sitting on my bedroom floor, twiddling my thumbs, waiting for an email or call from the DMV that was never going to come I was livid. On May 9 at 1:40 PM, I texted Jessica, telling her how terrible their services were, how the hardship license process actually works, and how--because of them--I had to wait almost an entire extra month for my license. I told her I'd be leaving a review based on the whole experience. Suddenly, at 1:45 PM, I got a reply--the fastest I had ever received from their office. A couple minutes later, Jessica called me. Then, Todd himself called about 10 minutes after . I had never received that level of urgency or attention--until I mentioned leaving the proper review. That was the moment I realized: they cared more about protecting their online reputation than actually helping their clients. I am posting this because i went online my self to look at reviews before i hired an attorney and i should of known all those 5 stars were bought

I got a DA offer in October of 2022 that was the same he had me sign in April 2023. He used the same paperwork they gave me to sign without his help. He is a fraud. He promised to get me a better deal but I paid 1500 more with the same deal the DA offered. I should have listened to the DA assistant and accepted their original offer. He didn't fight for me at all and will not fight for you too (most likely). He was lazy with my case and it appears he just cares about getting rid of your case as soon as possible to get paid fast. Don't trust this law firm. You will never win and better off defending yourself. I called him and asked him why he accepted the same offer i was offered before. He said I docusigned his contract by email and whatever the outcome was, is not his concern. He was so cold. He didn't care about my case. Don't use this lawyer. You are better off defending yourself.

Both were VERY helpful about the Florida court process and knowledgeable in all aspects of defense. Coming from Texas we were not familiar with the Florida Judicial system. My husband and I were very discouraged and upset by the false charges against him. Christian and Tim's knowledge of the Criminal Florida court system and investigative skills truly pulled us through a very difficult situation. They were extremely helpful and efficient in resolving questions that we had. I was surprised by their accessibility. Anytime we had a question, and trust me we had many, they responded quickly. I truly had begun to doubt the judicial system, but they stepped up explained the process and plainly described our options and outcomes. Our stress levels were exponentially reduced by their representation. They never embellished the truth or gave us "false promises". We clearly knew what we were up against and that honesty and forth right knowledge helped us take the right path during our case. I am proud to say that Van Riper and Nies helped us receive the appropriate/ justifiable "Not Guilty" ruling. Thank you Christian and Tim for your dedication to details, and vested interest in our case! I would recommend you both to anyone!!
