I would never trust "Dr".Khoury.
Short version of the story: Either ineptitude or indifference led to a WRONG, life changing diagnosis that had I not followed up on it intensely, I would have led my life thinking I had this condition (which I did think for several weeks)
Long version: Went in for a test, was given life changing diagnosis. I asked her several questions, and she refused to make eye contact, or directly answer the questions. Even when asked the questions different ways she'd give the same stock answer almost as if she didn't know how to read the result, or know enough about the condition to answer questions.
I proceed to do my own research, learn that various tests for the same condition have varying levels of trustability. Over probably 3 weeks, several calls, and HOURS on the phone with the practice trying to find out what test I was administered, not only was the question not answered:
1. I was repeatedly told I'd be called back by the staff and never was
2. I requested to speak Dr. Khoury - she never called back
3. Eventually I was told to call the lab to get the info - which would be a clear HIPAA violation if the lab was to divulge any info. Never should have been advised that
After weeks or runaround, out of desperation I eventually called the lab, and conference called the practice staff in hoping that between the two of them they can get me what I need while I'm on the phone, knowing it wouldn't happen otherwise. Dr.Khoury eventually aggressively gets on the phone, demands that I stop talking and asserts that she will handle. This is after weeks of reaching out and requesting calls that were never made, but all of a sudden she knows exactly what's going on and I'm to shut up? Of course, the call ends, and there's no follow-up from Dr. Khoury with any of the information she claimed she would get.
As a doctor my sense is that you need to carry both a minimum and balance of knowledge and bedside manner. Dr.Khoury is severely lacking in the aforementioned. I could forgive the absence of one to some extent but not both. Further the practice staff (outside of one nurse) didn't seem to really know what they were doing - not maliciously, but but unhelpful all the same.
The kicker to this all? I DON'T HAVE WHAT I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH. I followed up and paid for a separate round of testing w/ a different doctor, and was given all the information I asked for to boot. The night and day between the two experiences was laughable. I look forward to never seeing Dr. Khoury again. read more
