Food was delicious, great variety on the menu and serving size was very generous. Was able to BYO but also noted they had some good staple wines available for selection. Highly recommend, we'll be returning for sure! Was very quiet for patrons (maybe because it was midweek?) but takeaway seemed to be flowing in and out of the door.

It is seriously good, and reason enough alone to head to this Thai restaurant in Rosanna Village. The décor is calming and stylish and the second level makes this small space appear bigger then it is. The service is charming if not a little erratic and there is a limited beverage selection so BYO. Now to the main event, the food. It is consistently delicious. Have I mentioned the roti? Please don't be dissuade by my obsession with the roti, the rest of the menu is great in itself. Thai curries mingle with spicy salads and noodles. Everything on the menu is good, no great. The dishes taste as they are made from the freshest ingredients and the flavours are simple yet complex, like all good Thai food should be. Baan Thai also delivers in the local area and the quality of the food is maintained here too. Check the website and phone your order through, it is popular so on Friday and Saturday nights make sure you leave at least an hour. Baan Thai is a consistent and welcomed addition to my families birthday dinner rotation. And did I mention the roti?

You really can't go wrong and the coconut ice-cream is the perfect way to cool down any burning mouths if you get any spicy mains. Love it here. Oh - and don't steal any grapes or food on a plate near the register. I *might* not have seen the statue the first time I was there and so thought the grapes were a cute touch (like mints at the counter) and *might* have popped one in my mouth. The server very politely informed me what I was doing, and then presented me with a plate of grapes from the kitchen of my own, which was super lovely of them considering I had just committed massive sacrilege to their culture and religion by stealing food from the gods. I also really like the pants they wear here.

Nakorn Siam puzzles me…read more It has the potential to be a really great Thai restaurant, the kind where people from suburbs away will make bookings, or turn up in the vain hope that they may be able to get a table. The mains are fabulous: the Pad Thai is to die for, and the curries and stir-fries are always delicious and authentic, and I have yet to be disappointed with the size of the servings. However sloppy service (it was hard to manage to catch anyone's attention), boring entrees (tasteless spring rolls and bland crispy tofu), and an unimaginative dining atmosphere and setting land it firmly in the realm of the 'local' Thai restaurant. Takeaway serving aren't nearly as generous as eating in so you may want to order a few mains, or just bite the bullet and get a table if you want to try it. For quality Thai cuisine, you are better off heading to other suburbs or into the city. Judging by the mains, the Nakorn Siam has the potential to produce some excellent dishes but they can't seem to get the whole act together.

The Thai green curry is fragrant and deliciously authentic and this (my favourite dish) mirrors the quality of the the other dishes on the menu. The takeaway counter at the back of the restaurant does a roaring trade and the revolving door of customers collecting their order provides cool relief! Tarin is only open for dinner (from 6pm) but book ahead as groups of local families, couples and coworkers know this place well! Park across the road at Warringal Shopping Centre and collect a bottle of wine from the Sir Henry Barkly Bottle-O to enjoy with your meal. Although don't be concerned if you forget, Tarin is licensed as well as BYO.

The prawns were superb, the curry puffs needed the oil to have been a little hotter when they were deep fried, still tasty, just a little less puffy than I would have wanted. For the main course we had a green chicken curry and battered fried prawns with a tamarind based sauce, both we fine authentic fresh meals that had that Thai zing. Once again, tho, the prawns could have been done in hotter oil as they fell just a fraction short of being perfectly crispy. The wine list is small and modest but well priced, we had a Victorian Sauvignon Blanc for a quarter of the price we paid for similar quality local wine late last year.
