This is somewhere I've always wanted to revisit. My first time here was years and years ago, and…read moresomehow just had my sights set on revisiting last night. I don't think the decor or anything has changed since that first visit, as it was stuck somewhere between the 70s-90s. With that said, the service was reasonably good. There were only a few people in the restaurant at the time we got there, yet somehow, all tables got their meals out of order. The people ordering their meals just a half minute before us, got their entree 15 minutes before ours came out, but we got our mains before them. The food was quite good. I had the curry puffs and the chicken fried rice and all of mine was tasty. My friends both said their sauces were quite salty, and apparently the cashews were soft and mushy. The other hiccup was nicely resolved though - whereby two soft drinks were definitely out of date, so the lady offered to take them back and gave them a bottle of sparkling water at no charge. It's a very nice casual meal here. I think with so many other choices in Melbourne, there's no need to rush back again, but if anyone in the area asked me where I'd suggest they eat, I'd definitely recommend it.

Great food? Tick. Authentic flavours? Tick. Comfortable setting? Tick…read more Trinitas is one of my favourite local restaurants. Having been to Thailand and sampled the food I was so pleased to find a restaurant at home that could deliver the same complexities of flavours in curries and stir-fries. The menu is split up into 3 sections: traditional, contemporary and fusion. I highly recommend having a selection from each. The Thai imperial fish ($27) from the contemporary menu is phenomenal: battered fish with spicy sauce and yoghurt cream. The beef basil ($20) and red duck curry (24) from the traditional section are both delicious, and reasonably priced for such large sizes. There's a modest wine list that's worth a glance, and the coconut rice is the perfect accompaniment to any of your choices. The service is great, and they are always eager to make your experience enjoyable. If your downstairs ask for a good seat as it can get quite cramped when busy.

I've been coming to Rama Thai for years. It's a favourite for me as far as the food is concerned,…read morebut as far as the service goes, well that's another story. The restaurant isn't huge, and when really busy, it can seem cramped. But they've "modernised" it a little and it's a nice atmosphere. Parking is usually good, as it's on a stretch of Bourke Road where there's only a few other restaurants, and one of them isn't even open at night, so parking has never been an issue. I'd normally order Chicken Curry Puffs, but they only have vegetable ones. So I ordered the Golden Canape, which is deep fried marinated chicken on bread (toast) with a chilli sauce. Let me tell you; these are HEAVENLY. They are SO good. I haven't seen these on any other Thai restaurant menus (and I go to Thai places a lot). They're delicious and I could almost eat them as main meal too, lol. For my main, I ordered the Chicken Fried Rice (of course). This was delicious too and made according to my modification requests. I did find it bad that the waitress didn't know answers to questions about the food on the specials board. That's something staff should be trained in. And the food came out quicker last night than other times, because they weren't quite so busy. But the food is delicious and really tasty and if you don't mind slow service at times, this is a restaurant I highly recommend.

I'd highly recommend it if you love Thai food and craving for it since Rama Thai preserved the authenticity of Thai cuisine by not localising too much. For the entree, I'd recommend Chicken Satay, Co-co prawns or just Rama Entree combo for 6 pcs. Soup: Must get a Tom Yum soup (the original one should be spicy, but you need to order it as spicy if you want it, otherwise they serve non-spicy version by default.) Salad: Calamari Salad and Softshelf crab salad are our favourites, we haven't tried all of them. Thai curry: Rama Thai's curries are the best, any one of them are good depending on your preference. Grill: Rama grill combo is the best if you want varieties of meat grilled. Highly recommend Talay Thai which is a stir-fried seafood combination with vegies but a bit spicy. All dishes need to accompany with some coconut rice! Dessert: Coconut sticky rice ice cream is the best!

There are so many reasons why I love Thai food. The richness of coconut cream, the spiciness of…read morechilli and the tangy flavour that comes from ginger and lemongrass. Great Thai food should be able to combine all of those flavours and not let them overwhelm one another. Narai Thai comes pretty close to delivering. The menu may look pretty standard but the flavours are definitely present, and several dishes are brilliant. I recommend the calamari salad ($9.90) as an entrée, followed by either the Muu Yang ($14.90) or the sweet chilli jam stir-fry with chicken ($12.90). Narai offers take away, but it's always nice to dine there. I love being in the restaurant surrounded by purple and silver decorations, and the polite and hospitable staff. While Narai may not be able to keep up with the fusion fine dining Thai venues in Melbourne, it holds its ground well amongst hundreds of local Thai restaurants where the customers go just for a serve of pad Thai.

Tonight we ate two of the specials - red curry duck and slow cooked lamb Massaman - together with mixed seafood basil. They were each absolutely delectable and the serves are generous and not expensive. Add really friendly and efficient service and you've got a fantastic local restaurant. It's a beauty. I can't wait to return.

I love Thai food. I don't think you can ever go wrong with thai food. But I discovered today that…read moreyou can. Everything about this place was terrible. We went here after a movie so around 9pm and the waitress asked us when we entered if we had a booking. The kitchen was closing. There were no reserved tables. What did she mean? Overpriced menu. When we asked the waitress about portion size she couldn't explain it. We asked for the Thai green curry to be spicy and it tasted like it had sugar added to it. We ordered spring rolls, Tom yum kung and chicken green curry with roti. The spring rolls were the weirdest spring rolls I'd ever had. They had this weird crispy layer that tasted old. :( The tom yum kung literally only had two large prawns, some sliced button mushrooms (perhaps four in total), lacked the thickness due to coconut milk, arrived at room temperature and had some crunchy paste in it (perhaps they forgot to stir the tom yum paste - obviously not fresh). The Thai chicken green curry was two pieces of broccoli, four pieces of green beans, some chicken pieces, in a sweet creamy light green sauce. I felt like I was having ice cream as it was that sweet. Oh and there was a fly in our food. Nice. Our entree plates were never cleared or replaced with warm plates for our mains. Do not recommend.

"...YEAH.. FAIRLY ENJOYABLE.. BUT HONESTLY.. NOTHING TO RAVE ABOUT.. NO NOT REALLY.. NO NOT AT…read moreALL..." Such great reviews..!! Did we go on a 'not so good' night..?? Maybe..?? This happens, sometimes.. to even the best of them.. We ordered; 1 serve Vegetable Spring Roll - 4 fairly good sized rolls - fresh - crisp - but Sweet and Sour sauce was so so sweet... 1 serve Chicken Satay - 4 skewers - impressed that each was a whole tenderloin skewered - disappointed that such a tender cut ended up so DRY on the plate, it wouldn't come off the bamboo skewer - Peanut Sauce was all Sugar, with very little Spice... [and it's a bit tragic to see a clump of stale, wilted, brown-ended mesclun mix sitting at the end of a dish - a confident professional eatery would never do that..] 2 serves Roti Bread - 1 piece per serve - warmed but NOT grilled, NOT cut - NO Curry Sauce to go with it, just that same sickly sweet Peanut Sauce - not a good combination... 1 serve Gang Keo Wan Chicken [Thai green curry with chicken and vegetables] - average sized serving - generous with the Chicken and the Vegetables - good flavour - but, Sauce was far too watery.. like a soup base.. it lacked that unctuousness that a good 'GRAVY' [as the South East Asians call it] can have... 1 serve Pad See Ew Beef [stir fried rice noodles with sweet soy sauce, beef and vegetables] - lots of Beef - some serious Vegetables - more Spicy than Sweet - just delish - WOULD GO BACK FOR THIS DISH..!! - REALLY HIT THE SPOT..!! 2 individual serves Fragrant Steamed Rice - absolutely NO fragrance in this rice, NOR flavour.. NONE whatsoever - it was simply Steamed Medium Long-Grain Rice, THAT'S IT..!! 2 serves Banana Fritter with Coconut Ice-cream - 2 small pieces banana per serve - they were Nice and Crispy on the outside and DARK and BLACKENED on the inside [the bananas were over over over-ripe] - the 1 scoop of Coconut Ice-cream had absolutely NO SCENT, NOR TASTE of Coconut AT ALL - just a big shard of desiccated coconut, which grated on the teeth, every now and then - and what completely RUINED IT, was a so totally misplaced dollop of supermarket bought 'chocolate topping' - OMG this was truly a 'YUCK-YUCK' dish...!!! - I have absolutely no idea what they were doing here... Okay then: FOOD - some serious HITS and MISSES.. SERVICE - very friendly staff - it's not really set up as a restaurant - they have a few tables and chairs - you order and pay at the counter - they bring over the food - you help yourself to cutlery, serviettes and drinks from the fridge - they're flat out with take-away orders.. AMBIENCE - just a basic eatery, hey.. this rarely has any bearing on the quality of the food, but if you're after an 'experience,' then you might be a little disappointed.. COST - $70 for 2.. Yes, okay, but we didn't order anything with fish or shellfish in it... and I've had 'much better, elsewhere, for less'.. Visited on Thursday 19 November 2015 for Dinner with my eldest.
