In this area between Stephenville and the Port au Port peninsula, there aren't too many options. We…read morealways make it a point to stop at local breweries and try the beer, and we are almost always able to get good food. Secret Cove is no exception. They have Canadian award winning beer, and they have a pretty darn good kitchen. They weren't busy during our visit in middle afternoon, so we were able to talk a lot with the friendly staff. We got a flight of beers right off the bat, and we were blown away by the James Blonde golden ale. That's not a style I ever drink, as I am a big IPA fan, but this thing was just amazing. Several of the other styles were so good, too. We picked up a couple of cans to-go that weren't even on tap at the time. Every one of them was great. So well done. The food menu appears to change almost daily. On our visit, I got a really good crispy chicken wrap. They have sides, but I picked a bag of Ms. Vickie's chips. Perfect pairing for some really good beers. If you're a craft beer fan and you're making your way through this area, Secret Cove is a must-stop!

They have buffoons running the drive-thru who can't understand "6 piece chicken nuggets with a medium coke and a LARGE DIET coke" We get handed two medium DIET cokes?!?! They are also extremely impatient while cooking their meat, since i got 6 mushy, raw and wet nuggets the other day. There has got to be some intelligence deficit in every worker in this McDonald's... DO NOT go here because they WILL mess up the simplest order.

A small place off the beaten path, so mostly caters to locals. Service was quick & friendly…read more I had the fish & chips. Excellent homemade fries. The fish had a light batter, probably the same flour coating as used on the chicken. The fish was steaming hot & moist. The coating was good, but too salty for me & I'd rather have traditional-type fish batter. My husband had a hot turkey sandwich with fries. He loved it, except for the dressing on the sandwich. It is a NL traditional, loose/dry bread crumb stuffing that he doesn't like. I took a piece of cheesecake with me to eat later. It is homemade and had a blueberry topping that was made with local wild blueberries. It tasted good, but I was disappointed that it was the unbaked, chilled kind, instead of 'real' kind. I would eat here again. I saw someone else eating the chicken: it looked yummy.

Worst experience of my life!! Will not return…read more I went inside to get a drink and was informed that you can't order a drink unless you order food. New rule, weird but no biggie I came to have a plate of steamed mussels as well. Only to be told they took them off the menu. So I asked what's on your menu now that is gluten free as I have a pretty bad allergy. The young girl tells me there's nothing on the menu that's gluten free and went into the back of house to speak with someone about this dilemma as I would still like to have a drink while I wait for my friends even tho I can't eat anything they sell but she quickly returned with a firm. "No, we can't sell you just a drink, we are a restaurant and there has to be a food sale on the receipt will any drinks" I was blown away, I have never felt such prejudice in my life. This BAR & GRILL is not within walking distance of anywhere else that I could have gotten food or drink and I don't think they should be refusing service to anyone especially because their menu is lacking and can not accommodate to common allergies. So shoes, no shirt, no allergies.
