I will try and keep this review PG-13 because I know kids are on Yelp. Alright to find any KFC in central Mexico is unheard of, this was the only one I saw during my stay in Guadalajara, to be honest the part of town it is in is far from desirable, make sure you speak very good Spanish or the odds of getting your order correct will be slim. This KFC is clean and the staff are friendly which is the good part, now for the bad part, this is Guadalajara and if you are not familiar with this part of the world, well just about anything goes! A block away is Cadillacs and that's a well known strip club where they sell the dancers by the hour, how do I know this? Well a friend of mine took me there for my birthday in July and to our surprise it wasn't what we thought it was lets just say....What disgusted us both were all the American married men chasing after 18 year old girls in there, I'm sure the wives thought they were out on a fishing trip, but oh no, they fish for something else in Guadalajara. To give you an idea of how different this part of the world is from the U.S., we were at a well known channel 8 news studio on the main road in Guadalajara, very busy and congested part of town and right next door to the news station was a whore house where they even approach women walking past, it was down right disgusting! So this makes writing a review for anything in Guadalajara very hard, its such a different world compared to anything you have ever experienced that eating and restaurants are the last thing on your mind, we were there for nearly 2 months and only ate at a KFC one time, it wasn't close to our house we rented so every day was traditional Spanish food, so this was a nice change and made me miss Florida after eating here. What we liked most about Mexico were the taco buses, a taco with whatever you wanted on it cost 0.10 cents each, a glass bottle of coke cost 0.25 cents each, a burrito cost 0.30 cents each, a whole cooked chicken with 3 sides was $5 and came with 2 cokes! Food is cheap unless you order pizza, then the prices skyrocket, a large pizza in Mexico can cost over $30 and for some reason we ordered one every week, they were just so much better than any pizza you buy in Florida. I mentioned recently to my friend who went with me to Guadalajara that we should go back next summer, he is still laughing just to give you an idea of how different that city is, I would go back as long as we stay closer to Chapala, in case you have never been Chapala is strictly for the wealthy and on the far West part of Guadalajara, Chapala is beautiful but nobody speaks a word of English, so study up on your Spanish pronto. You can rent a new 2 story mansion on the lake for $500 per month, now that's a LOT of money to a Mexican born citizen, this is why so many Americans and Canadians have taken Chapala over recently, but they only live there during the winter months, so during the summer months its very quiet and peaceful. Even though many Americans have moved to Lake Chapala, you never hear any of them speak English because the locals do not even try to learn, so I cant stress how important it is to know at least some Spanish before you go, if you speak little to none there are MANY locals who will take advantage of you, Chapala is fairly safe but definitely not if you are alone, and Guadalajara forget about it if you are traveling by yourself, you are a sitting duck alone! Just like the U.S. drinking and driving is a serious offense, we heard stories about Americans who were pulled over after a few too many in Guadalajara who were never seen again, we were pulled over one night for driving too slowly in a town called Jocotepec by policia and had 2 guns pulled on us, this is not the trip for any beginner or novice travelers, I cant stress that enough!! If it wasn't for being with someone who is ex military and retired FBI, there is no telling what might have happened that night? Yet I would go back just because adventure is in my veins, but I will admit this is one of the more scary places I have been to. read more
