I highly recommend Keys to Communication, and specifically Julia Mora. My son started therapy with Julia when he was 4 years old, struggling with both speech and general comprehension, particularly with understanding sentences. From the start, Julia focused on setting the right, achievable goals, and it made all the difference. Because of her expertise, my son was able to meet every milestone we set. Her communication with us as parents is top-notch; after every session, she provides a clear summary of his strengths and areas for improvement, which helps us stay on track at home. Most importantly, my son absolutely loves her and looks forward to every session. We couldn't be happier with the progress he's made! I also want to give a huge shout-out to Tracy at the front desk! She is always so welcoming and helpful. read more

This is a wonderful speech therapy clinic. My daughter was referred to speech therapy at age 2 after her bilateral ear tube surgery and after they determined she had a speech delay. When we started at Keys to Communication, my daughter was barely speaking--she hardly said any words. After a year of services with Ms. Patricia and Ms. Janet, who were both equally amazing, my daughter is now at an average level for her age. I can't thank the staff enough, all of whom are so kind, for their services and for the wonderful care they provided my daughter while she was a patient at this clinic. I truly recommend this place and their services. read more

Keys To Communication - Speech Therapists Near Me - San Jose, California

My son's speech exploded as he started speech therapy a year ago at Keys To Communication and graduated just recently. What a difference a year makes! He use to only string together 1-2 words and max 3 words but now he can speak in full sentences and narrate stories. Ms. Simone was a vital part of his speech journey. She made each session fun while helping him crush his goals. He would look forward to seeing her every week which made it easier. She would also brief what happened in session and give suggestions on what to work on during the week. It's always a hard process selecting a therapist and knowing that speech is so impacted to be able to find a slot for my son. I had called over 10-15 places and I was so relieved that they put priority over Kaiser patients and was able to get my son in for weekly sessions. The staff is always friendly and the process was smooth dealing with insurance. Thank you Ms. Simone and Keys To Communication! read more

Keys To Communication - My 5 year old on his graduation day with Ms. Simone - Speech Therapists Near Me - San Jose, California

I can't thank the team at Keys to Communication enough for the incredible care and support they've provided. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and heard. Ms. Alissa, Ms. Janet, Ms. Meghan, and Ms. Patty are not only highly skilled, but also patient, compassionate, and truly invested in my kiddos progress. I don't know where we'd be without their guidance and support. We've seen such amazing growth in our kiddos overall communication, and it's clear that their personalized approach and dedication has made a huge difference. I personally have learned a lot from them and the debriefs they provide are full of helpful tools to continue helping your kid evolve at home. This has made the whole experience so much more reassuring and effective. Thank you for your outstanding service and for making such a positive impact in our lives. We are so grateful! read more

I hate writing negative reviews, but I am truly speechless and furious right now. They always talk about understanding and supporting parents with autistic children. But where is it? Seriously? Only in words! Our daughter is 3 years old and has autism. It is incredibly difficult for her to start attending new places. For her, just showing up is a huge step. It took so much effort, stress, and tears for us to start going to the Keys to Communication clinic. But we managed it. We were attending twice a week, we really liked it, and I felt a special bond was developing between our speech pathologists and our daughter. Due to a chain of events, she first got sick, and we had to cancel a visit. Then it was just impossible to come few times. When we were getting ready to leave, she would simply refuse to get into the car, throwing a tantrum and even having a nervous breakdown at the slightest pressure. We liked this place; we wanted to continue her sessions, we had no intention of quitting. Every day, we tried talking to our daughter, showing her pictures of the place, and hoping we would resume the sessions. Ultimately, we found out they had discharged our daughter from speech therapy in accordance with the clinic's attendance policy. We just received a letter. They didn't even try to contact the parents first to talk and understand the situation before they made decision. They just silently decided to remove us behind our backs. Where is the concern and real care for our daughter? Meanwhile, they themselves canceled sessions less than two hours before, and one time even when we were already halfway driving there. And that's considered normal. What really broke me was that they suggested we contact them in about 3-6 months, stating it would be more beneficial for our daughter to focus on her sensory needs through occupational therapy for a while. Seriously? This is better for the child? This is when all doctors insist that only a comprehensive approach, which includes speech therapy, gives the best chance for improving communication skills!!! All services are important and crucial because they work together to build a complete foundation. And they advise us to come back in 3-6 months? For us as parents, this is precious time lost for our child. If the issue is missed sessions, what do her sensory needs have to do with it, and why wait so long before we can return to sessions? They could have simply removed us from our current time slot temporarily. Or is the issue something else entirely??????? And if a child doesn't want to attend sessions, it only means that the therapists haven't found the professional and appropriate approach for her, and that our daughter has developed fear and anxiety about coming. Instead of canceling services, at least they should have tried to found out roots of that and explore other methods. I am simply disappointed in this clinic, which abandons autistic kid who so desperately and fundamentally needs these speech services! I hope someone else has had a better experience with this clinic than we are; We feel completely lost as a result. read more

I cannot speak more highly of Keys2Communication. My son went there for about a year, and Ms Janet, was absolutely focussed on my son meeting all his goals from day 1. My son had several development milestones delays, speech being #1. Ms Janet was able to get the word "Bubbles" out from him on day 1. We knew he was in the right hands. Our son officially graduated from Keys2Communcation meeting all his speech milestones. Everyone at the center is super friendly and professional. Highly highly recommend this institution. read more

Being a stutter with many past okay experience with speech therapy, I was a bit hesitant to try a new one for my own condition. However I was grateful I gave myself a chance to try therapy with Alissa and Keys To Communication. Comparing to other speech therapy sessions I had in the past, Keys To Communication is more systematic in the approaches to the speech impediment. Depending on different people's conditions and goals, Alissa and Keys To Communication work with you (as adult) to explore different approaches. And all these approaches / practices are backed by different scientific methods (Speech Language Pathology theory) which are proven to be effective given enough time commitment. The staff, Melanie, Tracy, and other therapists are also very friendly and highly professional. I usually don't like to talk to people I don't know (as a stutter) but I enjoyed chatting to them, whether in practice therapy session or just regular come in to share about different things in life. If you are looking for a speech therapy and like the scientific approach idea, I highly recommend Alissa and Keys To Communication. read more

Horrible communication and customer service. I was excited when I found them because the reviews seemed great. However, the greatness stopped there. I reached out via Yelp on 10/21/21 to submit an inquiry and get more information. I got a quick response on Yelp and was told by the owner to call the office. I immediately called and dealt with their receptionist who was less than helpful. Didn't understand why I was inquiring. I explained I wanted to make an appointment for my child and get more information. She said she would send an intake form and that it would be reviewed within 24-48 hours by the owner. She asked how I wanted to pay and I said I could either use insurance or pay out of pocket. I said I was willing to do whichever was faster as I only cared about getting an appointment, not the cost. She said okay and to send insurance info because they could quickly verify whether or not to use it. On 10/22/21 I sent back the completed intake along with pics of our insurance cards. Then.... Radio silence. I was notified on 10/23 that my email still had not been opened. I then called several times over the next week to Inquire and follow up. Was told they were "looking into it and waiting for the owner to review the intake form." On 11/9/21 I messaged on Yelp because I was not getting anywhere. The owner apologized and said the admin would be calling me. I got an email notification that my email had been opened by them for the first time since it was sent 3 weeks prior. I got a long excuse and was asked if I was still interested and to provide insurance info. I then also got a call. I restated that I had ALREADY provided the insurance pics in my original 10/22 email and that all I cared about what the appointment, not the cost. And it faster to just pay out of pocket. She was confused and said she didn't see my info and would look again. I replied back in my email as well saying all info had already been provided. No apology. Nothing. She then stated she would now pass on my info to the billing department. Radio silence again. And now on 12/2 I get an email saying they don't have an insurance contract with Health Net. They also don't know when they will be able to renew it. Nothing about paying out of pocket or apology. Just "Thanks!" A month and a half later and a total waste of time. No appointment. read more

My son received speech services here, and he went from only saying 5 words to speaking sentences. Alissa and Patty did an amazing job. I truly recommend coming here for speech services. Every week, it was great to hear our son's progress and things we can do at home to help with his speech. If we had any questions, our questions were answered right away with detail. My son loved going to speech every week, and he looked very happy after being in session. Thank you Keys to Communication! read more

This place is amazing. All the therapists are amazing and sometimes the owner sits in during the therapy. I started bringing my son here a little before his 2nd birthday because Kaiser had referred him due to his extreme lack of communication. Ms. Simone Akay worked with him the entire time. She is truly the best and sooooooo caring. I could see the joy she felt to see my son come in every week and improve. She truly cared about my son and getting him to speak. There were times when we couldn't make it to the office and Ms. Simone would facilitate a tele-therapy to continue working with my son. It has now been about two months since my now 3-1/2 year old has graduated from here. I can say he still asks for Ms. Simone and misses her dearly. Don't hesitate to bring your child here. They will definitely learn the skills needed to improve their speech and will have a lot of fun doing so. read more

If you are looking for Speech Therapy for your child or someone you love, look no further. My daughter has been going to Keys To Communication (KTC) since December 2022 and has progressed immensely. I credit the amazing, caring, and competent professionals (Ms. Janet and Ms. Simone) who has gone above and beyond to help my daughter. The whole office feels like a second home. It is like you are dropping off your child to a family member. Everyone is so kind that you just want your kid to be around all of them. Ms. Melanie (front office) is always cheerful, knows EVERY child by name, and always happy to work with your crazy family schedules. I know that I picked the right place for my daughter because she is always very excited to go to her session every week. She would even cry if she is sick and will have to miss her session. Overall, we highly recommend this place, I now understand why clients from Morgan Hill and Los Gatos drive all the way to KTC San. Our family is so grateful to Keys To Communication for our daughter's progress: from a super shy and timid little girl into a confident and talkative first grader. We are looking forward to continue our journey together to help our daughter reach all of her goals in speech therapy. read more

Great place!! Megan is the best!! Our daughter has made so much progress. Megan really has a gift for figuring out what motivates the client. Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and kind. We value her more than words can express! The front office staff are always very kind as well and greet you with a smile. Highly recommend. read more

Not what you would expect. Owner of the place is hiring students, mostly from SJUC. They are "running" therapy for your kids. Most of the time it is a game play session, which is probably ok; however this way it will take a while while your kid will start to cooperate and say something (depend on severity level of course). The problem is when student will graduate and will decide to leave the place, you will receive a note that your kid has been successful meet all goals and has successfully "graduated". We were kicked out this way after ~5 month w/o speaking a word. When we've asked for treatment summary, it was a joke; we were not able to show it to next speech therapist later on.... Not recommended. Seems like rest of reviews are forced or very inaccurate read more

Have been taking my kid for 3 weeks and he seems to enjoy while learning. Would recommend Meghan.

We are extremely grateful that we found Keys to Communication to help our son with his expressive speech delay. Over the course of 2 years, he went from only saying a handful of words to speaking in sentences. He worked with Merrett and Janet and we had great experiences with both. They each took the time to get to know my son and use his interests in the lessons. After he graduated from speech, they even provided worksheets and activities to continue working and improving his skills at home. The front and back office staff (Melanie & Tracey) were just as wonderful and welcoming. We have nothing but great things to say about this clinic and would recommend them to anyone in search of speech therapy. -Alyssa Guzman read more

I brought my 4 y/o here for treatment of her stutter. I couldn't tell if it was normative and we were home schooling due to COVID, so it's not like we could lean on a teacher to tell us anything was serious. I decided to get an evaluation for peace of mind and they suggested she would benefit from treatment. The course was relatively brief and after several weeks her stutter is improved about 60%! Scheduling was easy, the front staff was very nice, the office was clean and felt COVID safe. Merrett gave us the evaluation but We worked primarily with Amy. My daughter and saw her in person at first but then over video. She did a great job over video and my daughter thinks Amy has the "best games". Happy we came! read more

Merrett and Alissa have been amazing with our twin boys. Their techniques are very effective and they accommodate both of our boys for individual sessions at the same time on the same day. We are lucky to have been referred to them by our Pediatrician, Dr. David Trager. They have given us the techniques, tools, and signals to help us work with them at home. My boys are always extremely excited to see them and love their sessions. They are 20 months and we have had sessions for two months because our twins were language delayed and have we have seen significant improvement since K2C. read more

My 3 year old son recently "graduated" from Keys To Communication because he met all of his goals. While we are thrilled that he met his goals, we were sad to leave. From our first phone call, all the way to our last day, we had nothing but positive experiences. Everyone was kind, welcoming and professional. My son worked with Ms. Simone and she was amazing. She always had fun activities planned that kept him engaged and he was excited to return each week. I highly recommend Keys To Communication to anyone who is looking for speech services. read more

My experience with K2C was great from the start. I spoke to Melanie the first time I called and she answered all my questions and sent me the new client forms right away. We were paired with Amy and couldn't have been happier. She clearly laid out goals for my son that we worked toward each session. My son and I both looked forward to seeing her every session. Amy always thought of new creative ways to engage him when he would lose interest in an activity (as most 2 year olds do!) Not only did Amy encourage and facilitate my son's progress at each session but I learned so many great tools for working with him day-to-day at home. My son would often ask to see Amy on days when we weren't scheduled to work with her. Everyone in the office was friendly, cheerful, helpful, and communication was never a problem with front desk and billing staff. I can't say enough great things about K2C! read more

I recommend Keys to Communication to anyone looking for speech therapy. I decided to trust K2C with my son because Alissa Tone recommended to rewrite the goal with more specific therapy goals oriented for my son after hearing my son's case and reviewing his evaluations. She recommended Merrett and attended the sessions from time to time to check the progress. Alissa and Merrett gave their advices me to follow up for my son at home. My son has improved in interactions with others such as making calls to stay away from people saying inappropriate things at school as well as saying 'no' and expressing he was not happy to his peers. Merrett made a note book with the lesson summary with HW to follow up. She reviewed and explained practices to followed up with me and my son at the end of each sessions. She also praised things he did well and note the improvements he made. She was patient and professional. Some of the lessons were 'think it ,say it'; monitor people's reactions as you are describing your interests; stop and ask if they are interested; appropriate vs. inappropriate in different situations; etc. These activities also helped to self reflect, so he started to watch his own actions during conversations to reflect his intention and attention. She also had him practice with staff in the office and play game. BTW, the staff, Melanie and Tracy, were wonderful. They got the practicing buddy role down! Tracy's efficient in her communication in billing. Melanie is friendly and remembers everyone visiting the office and their schedules. Highly recommend Keys to Communication. read more

Merrett has been a wonderful experience for my daughter. We struggled to find her speech therapy and came across Keys to Communication. I am so happy we found them. Merrett helped my daughter greatly. Compared to other places we went, Merrett clearly explained the process and provided us with techniques and exercises to practice at home. Merrett and the team are very professional and experts in their field. Again, I really appreciate them telling me the parent how I can help at home! My daughter has graduated now and wouldn't think twice to go back if needed in the future. Thanks Merrett and Keys To Communication! read more

My son was diagnosed with a language delay just after 3 years old and we were lucky enough to work with Merrett for 11 months. The difference we saw in that time was just amazing - he went from being unintelligible at times, to saying clear, full sentences and understanding quantitative concepts. What was really impressive is that part way through our course, Merrett was able to pivot her teaching style to adapt to my son's preferred way of learning, which led to even more productive sessions. Aside from the weekly sessions, Merrett provided us with the techniques to use at home for my son's continuous learning, which helped a great deal. The sessions never felt like speech therapy, the environment was always fun and interactive, and even though my son has now 'graduated' he still asks to see Ms Merrett every Saturday. read more

I wanted to take some time to write a review about Keys to Communication. My older son had Ms. Amy as a speech therapist for a while. When he first started, his expressive language was very poor. Nobody could ever understand what he was saying. Within a month, we noticed tremendous progress as he was able to say certain sounds he couldn't say before. Ms. Amy provided weekly homework, which helped SO much! She's an extremely caring and fun loving person. My son looked forward every week to seeing her! She made each session fun and my son's speech improved drastically by her methods. Due to scheduling conflicts and schools reopening, I needed to change my son's time slot. Ms. Amy wasn't available for that timeslot, so he started seeing Ms. Mikaela! Ms. Mikaela was also amazing! She was very patient (my son likes to talk a lot!) and friendly with him, and he always had great memories of their session. My younger son is currently being seen by Ms. Merrett. My son is very shy but she has had such a great effect on him that he instantly goes to play/ learn with her. It shows that he has no hesitation and he enjoys their time together. We have seen such an amazing improvement and Ms. Merrett always has helpful feedback and provides tangible advice for improvement! We are extremely happy with all of the instructors our kids have had, as well as their commitment to improving their communication. They are without a doubt deeply committed, knowledgeable, and kind professionals. read more

Alissa Tone and her staff are simply amazing! Our 6 year old granddaughter is speech delayed and when my son asked Kaiser for an assessment they were totally clinical. At the time, she was 4 years old and did not want anything to do with any doctor. The doctors simply stated that she could not be assessed. Alissa came to our home and was successful in conducting an assessment. We could not be happier with the beautiful child our granddaughter has blossomed into. She has no problem telling her Pops that she wants In and Out or telling her daddy that it's time to get on the trampoline. Last night she sent her uncle to 31 flavors. We are loving it! My family and I have nothing but great things to say about Keys To Communication! We brought our son in for a consultation when he was around 2 years old and he was barely saying 3 words. Our Speech Language Pathologist, Amy Nguyen, worked wonders with our son! Amy instantly connected with him and catered the sessions to his interests. Amy did a fantastic job making the sessions fun and playful which allowed my son to connect and want to work very hard during his sessions. In just a short 8 months, our son was able to catch up and graduate from speech therapy. *Please note, there was a lot of "homework" we as parents needed to do with our son but Amy helped streamline this process with the wonderful sessions and guidance she provided us! Our son was always so happy and excited to go see "Ms. Amy!" and couldn't wait to get into the car to go see her. Ms. Amy will always have a special place in our hearts and we cannot thank her enough for all her hard work and expertise that she bestowed upon us! Keys to Communication is such a wonderful facility. My son was diagnosed with severe speech delay in 2020. After a long road we were able to get him the help he needed and we are so grateful it was with Keys2C! During his two year time he had three different speech pathologists all whom were phenomenal. Every member of the staff was always so welcoming, kind, and informative. When we first started my son was not comfortable around anyone especially strangers but he quickly began to look forward to speech and adapted wonderfully with each speech pathologist he encountered. Ms. Alyssa the owner is the one who helped us enroll my son into preschool and gave us the right keys to get him into speech services at school. Ms. Melanie, the receptionist is so amazing, both of my kids loved going in and saying hello to her or talking to her. She is such a sweet person who genuinely cares about all the people who walk through the door. She always helped accommodate us when scheduling changes needed to be made and always made it possible. Ms. Thao was his second speech pathologist at the facility and she was the sweetest . She is always so happy and bubbly, we could no longer do the time we had set with her so we had to change speech pathologists but she was always so kind when we would see her. Ms. Julia was his speech pathologist for almost a year until he graduated services and he was always so excited to go to his sessions. She was always helpful, friendly and pushed him to his greatest potential which we loved and are so grateful for.
