OK, where do I start to tell you about this absolutely fantastic venue…read more However, before I go into raptures about this oasis I would ask management to address one slight problem. Men sitting having dinner in the evening, shirtless, is a definite 'NONO'. A sign, at the entrance, asking that shirts be worn would not go amiss. Even, as a male, I don't want to see a guy with his gut hanging over his belt, I don't know what his partner was thinking. OK, rant over, maybe it's a personal issue on my part. We, most nights of our stay, popped in prior to dinner for their 'top' cocktails. Nowhere, I repeat nowhere, in Olu did anyone come up to their expertise in the making of vodka martini (in fact a Vesper) and caiprinha. They were perfect. But now I must come to their food. We ate one evening and were so astounded by the quality of the food and the service that I asked if a table could be reserved for our last night. Reserving is the best thing to do as there are so many people coming in on the 'off chance' of getting a table. On both evenings we were never rushed and, in fact, had our table most of the evening until we decided to move to the seating area at the back for coffee. Wines were totally delicious and at a reasonable price. The food coming out of the kitchen was beyond description. That chef was brilliant. We had, one evening, Jade Jumbo Prawns. Jumbo???? More like mini lobsters and in a ginger, garlic sauce. To die for. Dessert was beyond us. Then on the last night, a starter to share of seafood. That plate was OTT. Then steak with surf. Wonderful, mouthwatering steak with enough prawns on top. That night I decided to indulge in a chocolate soufle, my partner being full. It arrived with two spoons as, the waiter stated, I would not be able to eat it on my own. I broke the soufle and rich chocolate filling oozed out surrounding the home made ice cream. I needed help LOL We were treated like royalty on every night we visited. Fantastic guys, so friendly and helpful. I never saw the kitchen staff but they must have been working flat out down there. Thank you to everyone for making that ten evenings very, very special. Teşekkürler arkadaşlar

We had spent two lunchtimes in this delightful restaurant. Leaving, on both times, totally full…read morefrom eating 'filled to the brim' wraps and my gigantic baked potato. So, we decided, to give a go one evening. We are so glad that we did. First thing that hit us was the waiters memory of serving us before. We were then treated like old friends. While starting a bottle of delicious white wine we decided on treating ourselves to the best steak in the world, a chateaubriand. We have eaten this before and did realise the expense of this wonderful piece of meat. I London you expect to pay a minimum of £65 for two. The shock on our faces looking at the price on the menu, £20 for two. No contest. It arrived at our table in one whole piece. The waiter carved at the table, checking that it had been cooked to our satisfaction. Laid on plates with accompanying vegetables. The steak melted in our mouths. Beautiful. After this a break was needed but we were never rushed. In fact we had no room for a dessert so opted for a cappuccino and Irish coffee. Another surprise, the Irish coffee was a work of art. We had to take a photograph. Also the Irish coffee seemed to have very little coffee in it LOL. All in all, a wonderful evening and a fantastic dining experience. Service was second to none, food was top of its class. I would advise anyone to give this restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed. Try it for lunch and/or dinner, as we did.

I'm not sure if this restaurant in the old town is related to the Megri lokantasi or not but it…read moreseems there are several establishments with the same name (Megri cafe, restaurant and lokantasi). We prefer to eat at the lokantasi but ended up at this location guided by Google maps, mainly looking to try their desti (or test? I've seen it spelled both ways) kebap which essentially is a stew cooked in a clay pot. Both the restaurant and cafe are located in the same area with the old town, share covered outdoor tables and kitchen. The lokantasi seems to be nearby but not in the old town (also as per google maps). We first started with the Mediterranean salad and a couple of mezes (çacık and smoked eggplant), all were very good. The stew took a long while to be ready which we took as a good sign that it was actually being cooked as advertised and not just being placed inside the clay pot for show. One the stew was ready the pot was brought to our table and literally the base was lit up on fire I guess to continue the cooking and to help with cracking the top part of the pot open. The stew was good, they were generous with the amount of lamb meat and didn't just fill the pot with vegetables. The meat was overall tender but some pieces here and there were slightly overcooked. The dish is for 2 people and it's not cheap (1800 TL at the time of this review) but it was worth trying since it's not a dish commonly served in restaurants throughout Turkey.
