He sets high expectations, both academically and in attitude. He couples those expectations with extrinsic (McDonalds fries, frappuccinos, and stationery) and intrinsic motivators (encouragement and positive affirmation). He has also tutored our older son and worked with many other students whose families we're close to. As a long time educator myself, I have never seen a more dedicated and gifted tutor. I only wish both my children could take all their math classes from him. Over the years, Ludym has become a part of our family. They requested her school login for visibility on assignments/grades. It took 3 sessions to see how she learns, what techniques she's responds to and where her strong points and deficiencies were. Then they provided a tailored tutoring plan, 30 minutes for homework/tests, 30 minutes on advance math concepts. She's in 7th grade learning High School math! The monthly package is $350 a month for one hour a day M-F at either 3:30, 4:30 or 5:30. I love the flexibility. I have my step-son here too on the hourly pay-as-you-go plan and I'm happy there too. From a kid's perspective, they're lenient (aka kids can eat yogurtland in session) but they expect a lot.

I was struggling to find an effective, yet affordable, ACT test prep tutor for my son, who's a high…read moreschool junior. After reviewing Howard Test Prep, and all of the comments, I decided to give them a call. My son was paired with Rick, who has been more than I could have dreamed! My son - who is not a fan of tutors in general - hit it off immediately. Rick's professionalism and preparedness in working with my son has been wonderful. He has been open and honest about what would, and would not, work to prepare for the ACT. My son had four short weeks, but the time was used very efficiently. Keeping up with the additional ACT-prep homework was important, and Rick didn't set an unrealistic work load, allowing him to keep up with his regular school assignments and extracurricular activities. My son found Rick's instructions clear and easy to work with. It helped him go from a previous ACT score of 28 to a jump of 32! Four points after four weeks! And, as a parent, I appreciated the reports provided after each session with details about the lesson and assigned work. I also liked the convenience of Rick coming to tutor in our home and working around my son's nighttime availability. It made our lives so much easier. I highly recommend Rick as a test prep tutor and would have every confidence to work with him again in the future. Great tutor, great guy!
