Went in to get some retirement pension papers notarized for free since we are a customer and we have been a customer since 1986. A young man named Mike said he could notarize papers, and then when he looked through our papers, he made all the excuses you can think of of why he was not comfortable notarizing even a single paper, He never asked to see our IDs just looked at the papers and had a cannot do attitude the whole way ! I left saying I will review this branch again and I do not like this branch. That's why I avoid it! Every time there's a problem. ! We left and drove immediately over to the Lakewood branch and had a very pleasant successful experience there and got our papers notarized which should have been the case at the Steilacom branch! The high rating is literally due to the staff the manager is terrible When I went in to the drive through to make a 6 check deposit, she scolded me for not coming in. When I come in, she treats me badly if I say anything other than hello. On Friday,I was discussing products with an employee since I was considering opening an account. The manager saw me, assumed we were small talking and slammed chef keys on her desk twice while glaring at me. I thanked the staff member for the information and promptly left. Since when does discussing business during business hours become a bad thing. Not a welcoming atmosphere. Although I like the staff, if I didn't work so close I would do my work banking at another office. All commercial banks offer pretty much the same products. Customer service is the only thing they have to offer. I wish she would acknowledge that fact. Then I might reconsider opening an account. read more

Terrible experience with this bank. $36/week for overdraft. That is not a misprint. I went into the bank, was promised by teller that she & her mgr would review & c/b. Never did. Follow up phone call handled the same by male teller. Third call to branch manager, Michelle, who did not apologize or correct problem. Do Not Bank Here!! read more

I guess Key Bank would be a great bank to deal with if your account is in the plus. DON'T let your account go into the minus because of a problem you couldn't help. Trying to fix a problem there in Steilacoom branch is like pulling teeth without anesthesia. I went to the bank and talk to a banking personel named Nikko. After giving him all the info about the problems with my account, he said he couldn't help me. I told him he was worthless and he game me a sarcastic "You have a nice day." I had the same problem again with my account and this time instead of wasting my time driving there I called and actually got the branch manager named Michelle. She told me to call her the following day because the problem didn't show up that day. The next day the problem show up. I called and left her a message to call me back. Nikko was the one that was supposed to give her that message. Well, by no surprise Michelle the branch mgr didn't call back. I called the following day and left a message for Michelle to call me back. A lady named Joe answered and took the info for Michelle to call me back. No call back from Michelle. I worked for McDonalds as a assistant mgr in the 70's. We treated the customer buyng a 35 cent cheesburgar with more respect and help than this bank does for it's customers when they have problems. This bank is great to deal with when there is no problems with your account. If you have thousands in your checking account, they will kiss your butt to sell you on one of their CDs or money market plans. Been there done that. If you go into the red, you are annoying and they treat you like a pest when you ask for help. Michelle tones on the phone made me feel like I was a pest. Now she won't return my calls. :( read more

As a former employee I can not believe the way the branch manager Mr William Yu treated me today. I remember trying to assist a client prior to this and having to communicate with him. I knew his name rang a bell and he was rude and unprofessional back then and is still the same rude person today I see after contacting him about an issue that I was having. Funny how people that upset you so much are hard to forget. Mr Yu is an awful example of superior customer service and needs to study service mentor a little closer. Good to know the guy still has a job while so many good and caring reps were laid off recently. Mr Yu, shame on you and a little advice as well... You should not deal with the public period! read more

This is an ATM review only, I never go inside. I gave 2 stars because the ATM when it works will dispense money. Usually of late it's broke down and the last two times I went to use it the maintenance tech was there trying to fix it. I like the new exterior on this bank, a new ATM would be nice read more

Okay now look. The reviews before mine are WRONG. Key is very close to my house so I ignored the reviews and gave them a shot. The woman that helped me, Jill, was AMAZING. She spent over an hour with me, making sure that I had every question answered, she made sure i was completely satisfied! They are awesome. I didnt have a long wait, and she went over everything with me. I am so satisfied with opening my account there. I will be updating with what follows, but so far, i really reccommend them! read more

We have very good service at the Lakewood Branch. Tellers are all very friendly, Michelle the Manager goes out of her way to assist the people who come into the bank. She always takes care of us and has called us when a follow-up was needed. We have been banking with Key Bank for 20 years with no particular problems so these bad reviews are surprising to me as we have the opposite experience. We have our personal and business accounts with them as well as accounts for properties our real estate manages and there have been no problems over the years with those accounts. I cannot express how unsatisfied I am with this bank. I absolutely hate them. I have had fraud on my account on 3 different occasions previously. I went to cancel my checking account the gentleman who was supposed to do it at the Steilacoom branch didn't even tho he said he would.. then I had a $60 fraud again on my checking account. But because he emptied my checking account for cancelation it over drafted my account.. so then to cover the over draft it took $80 from my line of credit to cover this charge... even tho I just paid off my line of credit to cancel my account. So I had to use a new hassle free account (non checking account) while I waited for the money that was stolen from me to return to my account which takes up to 3 weeks. So I needed a debit card for my new hassle free account.. the lady who issued it sent one for my checking account that I had tried to cancel. It's the completely the wrong account. Also every employee had been rude and un sympathetic threw this whole experience. Nobody's been willing to help me at all and all I want to do is cancel and not bank with this bank anymore! Now I'm out even more money then when I had started. Don't bank here they don't give a rats a** about you. read more

I have used this physical branch three different times, each time was problematic: long waits, unfriendly bankers, rude bank manager. One time I was trying to start a business checking account and the banker that I talked to was so uninterested in helping me it was ridiculous. So I opened it with WSECU instead. Another time, after 3.5 years of no banking issues whatsoever I had a couple of weird things happen to my account and went negative. The bank manager that I talked to was very unfriendly and unhelpful. I get it that they can't always help but it was just very frustrating to feel like the bank is working against you. If you are looking for a banking branch with friendly people that actually want to help you, this doesn't seem like the best option. read more

Worst service bar none. This doesn't come from a disgruntled customer that had money problems or denied a loan or anything like that. I still have my account there. In fact I have three of them. It's about the service. They don't go the extra mile for you. Four visits and two phone calls over a six week period trying to get debit cards sent to me. They sent out a letter saying they were sending new chip cards instead of the old system to the customers. Then I got a letter saying that I haven't activated them yet so I came in to tell them I haven't gotten the cards to activate. They said let me order them and we will have them mailed directly to the branch. I gave them 10 days came back in no cards could not see where they were even ordered. Said they were going to order them again. Gave them another almost 2 weeks came in no one could find the cards said they would order yet another set one more time. I kept calling them following up to see if they had them when I would talk to someone it was always someone new that couldn't see in the computer that I had even ordered them the first time let alone the two additional sets. I kept saying I was going to end up with an expired card that wouldn't let me use it and I don't want to be in that situation. Sure enough I needed gas couldn't use my card went to make a deposit at the ATM could not use my card so I called the bank said where are my cards? Even went to a different branch to see what I could do to get the cards. They told me to come back to this branch. When I called one last time they said "oh they're sitting right here"and have been for 3 1/2 weeks and they had not gotten a hold of me. I tried to tell them that if they couldn't get a hold of me by phone maybe an email or a letter and they said they don't usually correspond that way. And their final statement when I was leaving was "I don't know what to tell you." Use a different bank or at least use a different branch. read more
