I went to this one place for a motorcycle key copy, told them for what bike showed them the key and he pulled one out that looked similar. The key was 14 bucks and some change, took him like a minute or two to get it done, pretty quick. Paid for it then asked if it needed any adjustments I could get them, since I wanted to try it on my bike before I left. It was pretty rough and it did clunk in to the on position but not to the lock position. He took the key back inside to the machine I assume. Brought some spray can for my ignition then tried it again, still didn't want to lock. But after he looked at my original key he noticed it was made too long so he took it back and shorted it. After that it worked for both on and locking position but it's still pretty clunky honestly, he was pretty helpful but did seem like he didn't want to waste or spend more time on the key. He did say the key has a lifetime warranty on it, it's a okay copy for emergency purposes only but definitely not an everyday key. Now that I noticed it side by side, it does seem still longer and the notches are a bit smaller then the original so maybe that's why it's still clunky. I'm thinking of bringing it back to see it if they can refine it, or something. I gave it a three star review for now, the service was pretty quick if you need a key done fast but I'm a little disappointed that it came out clunky. read more

I went to Key Evidence to have a door lock re-keyed. While I was there I spoke to Doyle, the owner, about installing a Ring Doorbell that I had purchased. I explained that I had an older doorbell, that was not compatible with Ring and that Ring had sent a part to install in order to make it compatible. Doyle assured me that they had installed hundreds of the Ring Doorbells and that there would not be a problem: the cost, $150.00. Several weeks later, I made an appt. to have the doorbell installed. Doyle, arrived and the moment he walked through my door, he began selling me on why the particular model that I purchased wasn't correct for my application and that he had one on his truck that was much better. I politely declined and asked him to proceed with the installation. I explained that there were two doorbells with 2 different rings and if it were easier to install only one that would be fine. Doyle clearly did not have a working knowledge of my older system so he called a friend who was an electrician and waited for him to arrive. 45 minutes later, the electrician arrived. Meanwhile, Doyle spent the entire time trying to sell me on various security systems. Once the electrician arrived, he completed the install in 20 min. Doyle showed me how to use the App and then presented me a bill for $295.00! Double what he had quoted me. When I questioned the bill, his response was, "I was here a long time." I should have paid the original quote and thanked him for wasting my time. In addition to overcharging me, the original doorbell chime no longer works, unless I have my phone with me 24/7, I do not know if there is someone at my front door. To say that I am disappointed with Doyle and his unethical business practices, would be an understatement. After reading the reviews, it is apparent that Key Evidence makes a practice of quoting one price and charging nearly double once you accept. read more

These Guys were amazing. My key was in pretty rough shape & my key fob was broken, I ordered a replacement key fob on Amazon. Key Evidence did everything that they could to try & cut me the correct key including trying to hand file one that would work. After numerous failed attempts they ordered me a key fob that would work & did not charge me for the one that didn't work, they directed me to get the key code from the car dealer. Once I returned with the key code they were able to cut the key for my specific vehicle & even made me a spare key to unlock the doors free of charge & the key fob that they ordered came in 3 days sooner than what was expected. I had to get a few keys made. The keys are for a Weiser lock. The door knob is from the 1970's. They were very helpful and the keys worked perfect. It is worth the extra few dollars to avoid the box home improvement stores. Those keys will work but not very smooth action I've been here a few times over the years and always had a positive outcome. I would recommend them for any lock needs. I came in there today just to get one simple "non-chipped" key duplicated for my Ford Ranger. The older guy's exact words were "Not to be a dick, but if it's anything is under a $40.00 purchase I have to charge you a $10.00 fee to use your credit card, unless you have cash", then pointed out the same info documented on the table. Are you kidding me!!!??? A simple two-dollar duplicate key to be made and I have to put up with that BS!!!??? You'd think they'd give an Army Veteran a break at least!!! Wow!!! Very good customer service. So let me start off by saying this, they were the only locksmith in central ca to do the job they did. This was a very labor intensive job. We're talking about a service truck a mechanics truck with a utility bed on it. This trucks bed key was lost to the tool boxes. There was no key code no info on the box itself or any sort of helpful information. No one and I mean no was able to help. I tried places in Bakersfield, porterville, Tulare, Hanford, Fresno, Madera, Merced, Turlock, Modesto and many more places. This place had a job on there hands. All the tool boxes were locked and the keys were lost and no info what do ever. Now let me back track a little, all the other places said the same story, " we need to drill the existing ones out and order you the proper ones and that would takes weeks." I needed this truck to be locked and secure the tools inside and also have access to the tools. One place I called went as far as telling me, " well you need to get in the tool boxes right?, so what's the problem of us drilling out the locks your getting what you want!!" I told him that wasn't acceptable I need to be able to lock the doors after I get in my tools and he said, "well what ever is in there must not be important to you then." I laughed and hung up. I want to thank key evidence for there great help and awesome service. The gentleman who helped Me was the older man who wasn't the Owner but this man was great. He did such a amazing job. The ONLY key I had to my Honda civic was worn down and broken in half. I brought it to Fred at key evidence and he managed to make a copy of it, even grinding part of it by hand to get it as close to the original as possible. He warned me that it might not work. For $50 it was worth the risk considering that my car was over and hour away from Visalia. I got home and by some miracle the key worked! It opens the door, truck, and starts the car! I wish I could give this business zero stars. Background: My keyless remote for my vehicle has the key integrated with the remote. The small, round plastic part that is used to attach the remote to a keyring broke off. Otherwise the remote worked fine. I therefore just needed a new shell case for my remote, not another brand new remote with the internal components. I purchased a new case online for $6 and switched the internal components myself. Took a couple of minutes, no problem. Services needed: The new keyless remote case has an uncut key and when I switched the internal components it no longer worked and needed reprogramming. I called Key Evidence on 5/11/11 and explained everything above and asked what they charged for the reprogramming and key cut. After I was placed on hold for him to look up my vehicle information, I was told $45 for the reprogram and $4.95 for the code cut. I also called the local dealership and explained the same thing. I was told $55 for the reprogram and $18 for the cut. Therefore I went to Key Evidence. The next day, 5/12/11, I arrived at Key Evidence and again explained my situation and presented both my old key case (which was broken), and my new, uncut, unprogrammed key. I also said that I had called the day prior and advised of the prices. The first question I was asked was, "How much did you pay for the new key?" I asked why that mattered for what I was needing done. No reply was given. I was then asked what price I was given when I called. I stated $45 for the reprogram and $4.95 for the code cut. Comment was, "Well our minimum is $65 for the programming." I stated that if that was the case then I would go to the dealer. "Local dealer?" I was asked. I said yes and advised of the prices I was given when I called the dealer. He then asks me where I got the new case. I replied that I purchased the new case myself. He asks, "Online?" I said yes. He then writes down my vehicle information and took both my old key case and the new key and went to a computer to look up information (not sure what). He leaves and goes into a separate side room and closes the door, with no comment to me about where he's going or why. He comes back from the side room and places both of my keys on the counter and says, "Yeah, you're going to have to go to the dealer." That's it, end of story, no explanation. I will never return to this business. read more

Really disappointed. After researching an inexpensive alternative to paying Nissan for a new key I found that ordering a key online to match my truck would work as long as you still have the original key in the truck. I brought the keys to key evidence thinking that it would be a simple job to copy my original key. Apparently it is very labor intensive because it was going to cost $40 per key. I asked why it was so expensive and was told that since I brought my own key blanks in they had to charge more because, and I quote "the labor involved and then not guaranteeing it would work" $80 to copy two keys. That seems criminal. I wish I could give them no stars. I ended up going to a local hardware store that copied my key for free because they wanted to see if it would work with the original key in the truck. It worked and they still didn't want to charge me. I will never go to key evidence again and I hope this review helps others choose to go elsewhere. read more
