You really can't complain about kexgill if you're talking about cheap student accommodation, but when it comes to value for money, its a different story. I have been with kexgill for 2 years now, not so much out of choice, but because I couldn't afford anywhere better. The first house I moved into was not in the best of states to put it nicely. If I wasn't to put it nicely it was a dump, the only reason I stayed with them this year is because I found out that they were offering a newly refurbished house for the same rent per week which was just 10 doors down from me. I decided to change my contract over to this house, thinking that if it was newly done out then it would be much better, none of the problems that were there in the old house. I was wrong, yes it has been newly decorated, new kitchen etc, but the bathroom suite is very cheap, the toilet seat was broken when we moved in so I doubt that was included in the refurbishment. The kitchen roof also leaks when we have heavy rain. I know that it is student accommodation and I shouldn't expect much, but at the end of the day, they're getting my money and I was hoping they might make an effort seeing as it would be a better investment in property than the usual bodge job they do. It seems basically unfinished. None of the light fittings or electrical sockets look like they have been cleaned or replaced for 10 years, and the quality of the plumbing leaves me wondering who has been getting Kexgills money to do the job.
So my advice is that if you can afford a little more, then do so unless you're happy with living in a bodged, unfinished shell of a house. read more
