The small lake was a hit with campers looking to cool off. Each site has electricity and a fire pit, but make sure you bring a grill to cook on or a pit grill to place on top of the fire pit. There's a large children's playground and horseshoes pits for the adults. Firewood is really cheap at $3/bundle and they even delivered it to your camp site. There are 4 restrooms on site, but no showers or running water. It's camping and not the Ritz-Carlton so make sure you know what you're getting into. Pete and Pat live on site and made sure to check on everyone at least once a day which was really nice. They even picked up our trash every morning. Make sure to bring cash as they don't take credit.

We were greeted with the utmost respect from the second we called, to pulling into the parking lot, getting help onto the river, and getting off. It was one of the prettiest parts of the river that we have seen, very wide open. Pulling into the campground from the river, allowed us to experience their adorable establishment. I truly can't wait to go back and camp next time. I won't say any names but we tried the same experience the day before at a close establishment. It was horrible, a long walk with no help, cash only, and a $80.00 cash deposit. The owner was very disrespectful also.

Our site was overlooking Green Lake, but was difficult to see because of the tree cover. Our site had a trail leading down to the lake. We swam in the lake and no complaints of swimmer's itch. Rustic means no electric and pit toilets. We love getting dirty and just camping for a few days, but there is a modern side on Duck lake with showers and electric and a small camp shop. Just down the road is Tom's grocery, several restaurants, a mini golf/ icecream shop and Interlochen arts camp. Check them out for free shows. Traverse City is about 30 min north. This is a great jumping off point to check out TC, sleeping bear dunes, or whatever else is in the area.

All of the sites are super close together, but well kept and clean. We were in site 380 and were close to the restrooms, but not too close that it was a nuisance. I kind of randomly picked this campsite, I was headed somewhere else when I saw the sign and…read moredecided to take a chance. It really paid off. The campground was clean, the spaces are not cramped together and more than a few have lake views. There is running water, pit toilets, and steps down to the lake, and each campsite has a picnic table, fire ring, and parking spot. A few are against the forest, some are in the middle of the site, and the others kind of by the lake (these were my favorite, nothing like waking up in the morning and looking out on a clear blue body of water). Overall I was very happy with this campground, it seemed underused, which was kind of surprising given the beauty and quietude of the area. My only complain was that it had a lot of yellow jackets that wanted to eat my lunch more than I did. Bring spray or something, you're probably going to want it. Or maybe it was just my site, who knows. You can fish in the lake, it's stocked with trout. The water also seemed very clean, I almost went for a swim (it wasn't that cold either). There is also a day-use area, so you can just picnic or fish if you feel like it. To get here you have to drive down S Stephan Bridge Rd and will then take a left - keep your eyes peeled for the sign. There is also a sign on MI-72 which will point you in the right direction.

My husband isn't a camper and we needed somewhere close to my parent's house to stay. We rented the…read morerustic cabin at Best Bear and our expectations were blown away! There wasn't much information to go off of online so we went in sort of blindly. The room was huge with a massive bunk bed and a seperate bed as well. There was a full sized fridge/freezer combo, a coffee maker and mugs and some other accessories, and some little snacks things. Towels and washcloths were also provided. There is an air conditioner which I wasn't expecting as well as an electric heater. Firewood is available for a small free and they will set up chairs and a table near the fire pit. The security of coming in each hot day to an air conditioned, clean bed is wonderful. There are communal bathrooms which are basically an actual single person bathroom with a shower. The Lodge provides you with quarters to use with the shower so it doesn't actually cost anything. They also supply a large amount of material on local attractions and restaurants. We had an incredibly amazing time and are so thankful we booked here! The price was so low for everything we were provided with and the service was amazing. We did not rent ATVs, however, we snowmobile frequently in this area in the winter and there is a massive two track system and many beautiful trails. If you have the time, this would be well worth your while.
