I was treated with the utmost respect from almost every person at the behavioral hospital where I was! With the exception of maybe one. There were several very special people ; one of the occupational therapists named Joanie was very professional and sensitive to each person in the group. Another special person was one of the mental health tech's I believe her name was Kylie! She was very sensitive and empathetic and compassionate with each individual she encountered! Dayton friends- drive to Lindner Center of Hope in Mason. Our daughter came out of Kettering worse than when she went in. After her 3 day stay, we had to go to the ER. Basically they drugged her for 3 days and she didn't eat or drink while she was there. She struggles with anxiety and panic disorder. She was shaking and listless due to dehydration. This was in May of 2026. When we would ask to speak to someone they would grab anyone walking by that had no clue what was going on. she didnt learn any skills to cope. Don't even get me started on visitation...oh wait, please do get me started. I wore a sweatshirt 2 days in a row, On the third day they made me take it off and I had on a cropped workout tee. They said I could only wear one layer? My husband wore a hat but on the second day they said he couldn't wear it. We brought our daughter a book and they said it couldn't be hard back. That's fine but why weren't caregivers given a list of what the patient should bring and what visitors could/could not bring? When I asked this they said it's in the patient packet. 1 of Ohio worst Psychiatric hospitals. Whether your an adult or an adolescent; send your loved ones to OSU; Harding Hospital or Columbus Springs East. This is coming from a mother whose unfortunately had a daughter with a severe mental disorder. Out of all the mental hospitals here in Ohio; this 1 does not make the top 10. Each time KBMC would release and send my daughter home she was not stabilized and on 3-4 new medications. I'd talk with the case worker explaining my concerns and regardless they'd release her anyhow. Eventually she ended up taking her own life. BEWARE. We had on many occasions to stay at a hotel a couple of days before bringing her home to ensure that she was safe enough to come home due to THESE psychiatrists releasing patients way too soon and when they are not complete stabilized while being placed on to new medications. read more
